TW transphobia - kinda?? and implied abuse.
"I heard you started going by Dani at the theatre."
And they promised it wouldn't get out to anyone else. That he was safe there.
"It's just... a nickname, ma." He defended himself, his voice trying not to shake.
"Oh? And what about the he/him pronouns, ███? Also a nickname?"
The plate he was holding fell to the ground.
Fuck no, this isn't happening.
He came out to his friends – people there as a guy few months ago.
The words came out before he could stop them. He didn't even think about it.
His dad. He was scared of him. More than someone should be scared of their dad.
"He already knows. And he said he was gonna have a talk with you after he comes from work."
Panic bubbled in his chest.
He was gonna kill him. He was gonna kill him. He was gonna—
Without another thought he ran.
He had to get away. It didn't matter where. He had to get away.
This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't how it was supposed to go.
He didn't know where he was running. Somewhere. Anywhere. It didn't matter as long as it wasn't his house - he couldn't stay there.
His legs burned. They hurt.
And soon enough he couldn't run anymore.
He leaned against a wall near the bus station, breathing heavily.
His heartbeat was so fast, he slid down to the ground and stretched his legs.
What was he gonna do now?
All his friends lived in towns not too far away but far enough to walk to. He didn't have a car and he had no money.
He just sat there, not knowing what to do.
