The Crown of Secrets isn’t just a big fat story book. It’s also a pretty sweet coloring book!

You can color ALL THE THINGS!!! (or at least 32 pages worth of things)

WARNING: THIS COLORING BOOK HAS BEEN TESTED ON LIVE CHILDREN AND ADULTS. NO HUMANS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OR COLORING OF THE PAGES.

It’s 32 pages of coloring and creative activities to go along with stories adapted from the full storybook.

It also includes the full (and extra-beautifully colorable) Hunting My Dress, illustrated by Kristin Richland:

The two volumes match but are easily distinguishable, so you won’t accidentally color the wrong one. I know this is a problem sometimes.

Yes, I took these photos on my beautiful tile floor. I want you to know just how real the book is. Definitely has nothing to do with how I don’t have a black velvet background.

Announcing: The Crown of Secrets

Okay, so actually the book’s been out for a long time, but I’ve had nothing here on my website about the final product. Here’s the thing itself: a massive full-color 80-page book of stories written by me and illustrated from eight fantastic illustrators from all through space and time. (Really!)

The Pearly Quindle exhibits a peculiarly strong disdain for any apple other than the Macintosh. Unlike other quindles, the pearly species hides its spotted fur and one hundred twenty legs beneath a thick protective carapace.

Proakothans are large predatory scavengers. They are fiercely territorial, despite their nomadic tendencies (or possibly just really angry all the time).

The fact that the PELLIM is physically incapable of climbing trees has never stopped one from trying. Despite giving birth to live young, pellims are convinced that they come from eggs, and consequently are extremely protective of anything vaguely spherical. Pellims are renowned for their dental hygiene. Its webbed tail would make it an excellent swimmer were the pellim not mortally afraid of water. Pellims feed entirely upon insects, pinecones, and flowers, but have been described by many as "bitey."

A single untrained CAVE BASKORID will run from nearly any loud noise, but a tame legion will readily charge into the fiercest battle. Colorful ridges on the neck and head glow under ultraviolet light. Being reptilian, baskora rely on external heat sources but still enjoy mountain scenes with snow. They usually lay their eggs in mountain cave lakes. Many baskora live in caves that radiate heat from volcanic activity far below. They rarely allow anybody to pass through these caves, regardless of how polite they may be.

Though not physically impossible, it s exceedingly difficult for the SHORNOA to raise a cup to its mouth. Every one of the shornoa's sixteen fingers is actually an opposable thumb, as is its snout. The shornoa's muscular tail is frequently used as a weapon to gleefully swat food from others' hands. There is only one confirmed instance of a shornoa being unhappy.

The ONNOCK is an ominous omnivore that, though small, lurks in the shadows and waits for just the right moment to strike its prey du jour, whether apex predator or bouquet of flowers. Aside from its sensitive ears, the onnock's entire outer body is a curious blend of muscly bone. This renders it resistant to most attacks and lends great strength to its own pinching grasp. Though adamantly antisocial, the onnock is fiercely loyal once befriended and provided with adequate shade and comestibles.
