I chose to perform a transformation using makeup.
Reading Response #5
It seems as though the idea of pushing boundaries has come up again in this week's reading and movie. While taking in all of this information I could not help but think back to when we were learning about postmodern art, which also broke boundaries and defied expectations. I think that because performance art is not clearly defined it allows for the artist to have the freedom to convey any message really. I think the question about what really is art is important because honestly, it can be anything that has meaning to any one person.I found a sense of freedom in this definition. I gathered from the material this week that art is an expression and the medium is simply the vehicle to get the concept to be seen, heard, or felt. Performance art allows emotion to be felt in a unique way compared to other mediums. I think this element is rather intriguing and I am excited to see what my classmates have to say about this.

Artist Statement: Wanted to explore the the relationship between musical rhythm and visual rhythm- turned out more music video than I wanted.
Bass won’t show up unless played through decent speakers- i.e. not laptop speakers.
This makes my ears feel like I am driving down the highway with one window open, so I don’t think it feels like a music video :D Also nice job lining up the visual rhythm with the actual rhythm.
Oooh I like the build up to the end! The last 5 seconds was probably my favorite though. I thought that the volcano was just going to explode so it was neat to see a color change instead.
I loved the intense build up action! So kewl!
I like the build up as well! I kind of wish the footage was flickering rather than layering that you added, but mines looks more music video so don’t worry!
I agree with what everyone else has said! I really enjoy the connection of the rhythm with the video. I think I would have liked to see a bit more variation but still enjoyed it!
awesome I agree with all of the other comments! the build up was really interesting and I think the color change the end was a nice twist and rather unexpected.
4D Project #4
This is my submission for our 4th project. This to me represents appearing and disappearing. I think the change over time is interesting and I also like how it always comes back around. From winter to winter, hope you enjoy.
Artist Statement:
Capturing the free energy and light heartedness that a dog has! Iv'e combined a classic song with a unique perspective.
Reading Response #4
I thought the reading was really interesting and also hard to grasp at the same time. The fact that motion can be implied is really strange to me. The illusion of movement can signify the passing of time or distance. I think it's great how this concept is meant to break out of confinements and structure. An artist can draw attention to one part of the piece to allude to other shapes and lines. Moreover, this is just another fantastic form of expression.
Project 3
Element: Wood
The progression of the woodchopping animation is really great. I think it is interesting how you show the tree in its whole form and then it being cut up.
Project #3 The Loop
Posting this now, as I will not be near a computer around 4pm.
My end goal with this project was to have created a couple GIFs that showed the progression of doing a hand drawn animation. So the first three GIFs are all frames that I drew with a Wacom Tablet directly into illustrator and then moved the images into Photoshop to create the GIFs. I started with a video of falling leaves and used a variety of filters and adjustments to create the other seven GIFS, I decided to stick with the same video base for all the GIFs so that I could really dig deeper into the infinite possibilities available. I wanted to spend more time manipulating the GIFs instead of searching for viable clips. This project actually made me really excited about the possibilities here to make my own mini animations, although the frame by frame animation is a lot of work it is really rewarding to see, even for a few seconds, your work come to life in new ways.
Love the GIFs they are really great. I especially like the colors. I think its cool how you manipulated the same image to look so different.
The idea to use a flower in place of military objects is so genius! I also love the contrast of the colored flower with the black and white photo. Perhaps you could have added more color with other objects in the photo as well. Great Job!
Reading Response #3
Gifs are really interesting to me because they are such a product of the time. They are certainly a new art form and quite honestly I did not know that they were even considered art. After the readings I have a new perspective on them and I appreciate their ability to convey a message. Being able to capture certain aspects of larger productions and pieces makes for a interesting perspective.
interesting subject matter
This is just lovely
Love this show
