You came from a very strict, wealthy and privileged dynasty. They all save all the money they can, worrying 'just in case'. Besides that, they definitely care about your well-being, but it is too much at times. Your parents would rather keep you inside your room all the time. Come on, how disappointing.. the world is pretty. Why so uptight? You loved traveling and exploring new places. You valued experience.
..but after too many failed attempts to escape while grounded, they decided to assign you a knight. A female one, at that. You still remember the rage and pure fury going through your veins. You had no privacy at all. At all! And no, you weren't even that spoiled. What's so bad about wanting to go outside? To learn about earth? You still don't understand why your parents did what they did. Personal knight. A blow to your ego. You even tried to talk them throught this, but to no avail.
So.. when your parents didn't react, you thought that maybe your knight will. So you decided to make it your goal to make the girl quit. You acted spoiled, threw tantrums (literally the most childish thing you could do) and even tried complaining to your parents about her being aggressive with you. No reaction from them. And finally.. after a few months, you gave up. They did not care, so what was the point on dragging it further? At least Herta was cooperating and listening to your venting.
You grew attached to her after a while. It wasn't.. that bad. Could be worse. Ew, you even imaginated a lustful male knight watching over you.. disgusting. So.. maybe you were even grateful for having her? Damn it, no. Why are you even thinking like this? But she indeed cares deeply for you - even if it is just because of money - you feel safe, you can't lie.
And now she needed to handle another one of your escapades. Your heart desired to go on a winter festival, all that vibe and catchy carols pulled you in. Including that snow outside? Perfect. You couldn't say no to an opportunity like that! Besides.. you have done that before, multiple times, that's why you were so sure about it. Nothing to scare you now. You even had that black, plain cloak because of which you never get recognized. You had an attire for Herta too, and told her to act like her friend. This had to work.
"Okay.. now, do you have a weapon with yourself? No? Come on, why do I have to remind you all the time?" Your knight let out a sigh, rolling her eyes in the process. "And what if something bad occurs and I happen to not be by your side? Not that im expecting anything-" She explained, looking serious as never.
"I know, I know! You've told me this hundreds of times already! Geez, chill." You handled this with a calmness that annoyed your protector instantly.
"And yet you fail to remember such thing. Next time, I won't agree to this. Mark my words, I mean it." She looked at you and narrowed her eyes, leaning against your wardrobe.
You opened your window and let the cold breeze hit your face, then inhaled the refreshing air. "You're lucky it's not summer.. you'd be sweating as hell." You scoffed, then turned your head around. "You coming or not? We don't have all night." You said with slightly annoyed tone. She reluctantly agreed and you both left thought the window.
You sighed in relief when you successfully crossed your home's gates. Of course, Herta helped you. Excluding you almost getting hurt on the frozen snow, everything went smoothly. You were very proud of yourself.
The way to the festival was boring, just plain forest, plus it was dark and you two forgot to bring the flashlight. She scolded you for that, too. Like she couldn't be the one to bring it..
On the other hand, she had her hand wrapped around your waist, probably to ensure that you won't run off, but it still was a hand around your torso, right? It felt so secure. Disgustingly secure. But you hadn't let yourself relax against her grip, she would've seen that as vulnerability. You really wanted to relax, though..
When you finally arrive to your final destination, you're mesmerized. Everything is perfect. People are happy and minding their own business, exactly what you needed to see.
"Don't you even dare to walk away." Herta warned, her hold on you tightening. She stared at some people ahead.
"You're supposed to be acting like my friend. I don't think friends ale holding each other like this." You noticed and nudged her lightly with your elbow. She gave you a look that already scared some people away, but she pulled away in the end.
"It would be easier if i had my blade. God, how I miss my sword." She groaned into her palm while she watched you eat some food, then sighed. You two were sitting on some bench now, looking at people having fun.
"Don't you get annoyed sometimes? I'm sure this thing weights a lot. Let yourself relax." You replied in a somewhat lazy tone. You just wanted to enjoy your food right now, it wasn't cheap, but at least you paid with the money you stole from your parents. They will surely notice later, but you could just lie that you bribed a maid or a servant to clean your room or some shit.
You glance over at Herta again. Damn, she was stiff as hell, her eyes wandering and landing on every person possible.. You just rolled your eyes, there was nothing you could do.
Later, when you were ready to head back, she immediately grabbed your waist back. It was so normal for her that she just kept her head straight and acted like always. Unlike you, who whipped your head back to yell. "You're obnoxious. Seriously, again?!" You huffed, but you felt your cheeks getting hotter. Shit.
"Yes, again. You tried to run away from me twice today. Twice." She pinched your side. You gasped and fliched.
"Because you're a killjoy. Just like now." You replied with annoyance. "Let a girl have fun.."
"'Fun' is you getting kidnapped? You're lucky I even agreed to this. You're so childish." Herta looked at you, then raised her eyebrow
"Well, if you hadn't agreed, i still would have gone. Just without you."
Your knight thought she heard you wrong. "Mm, yes. Then all the blame would be on me. Perfect." She grabbed you fully now. You started walking backwards, and then your back hit a tree. "You're not allowed to walk without me outside. Do you hear me?" She whispered into your ear, but you only.. moaned in the reponse. You kissed her. Fuck, why did you do that!?
She relaxed her eyebrows and grabbed you by your hair, deepening the kiss. You desperately held her shoulders, but you didn't even know why.
She finally pulled away, then gave you a smile and turned away. "Let's head home. You must be tired, hm?"
