Right ok I’m going to give the longest story you’ve ever read in your life so grab a snack. Where do I even begin?? I remember my mom downloading a few songs onto my first iPod, and 1/2 I really liked was Love Story. I’m not exactly sure what made my little 5 year old brain gravitate towards it, but something did. Clearly, her music has a broad spectrum of ages though. That was in 2009, so a year goes by with me still loving that song but not hearing any more releases. Then, Speak Now comes out, and some magical reason made my parents get it for me for Christmas. I. Was. Hooked. I played that album all Christmas Day, especially loving Mine, Sparks Fly, Mean, The Story of Us, Enchanted, and Long Live (clearly the slow songs weren’t my favorites yet lmao). As the years went by, I started discovering videos of her on Ellen, other interviews, and her other albums, Fearless and debut. I became such a stan that my parents bought tickets to go see her at the Speak Now World Tour when I was six. Even though I hardly remember it, I remember the fact that I was “tired” according to my parents, and that we left during Enchanted. I, for one, was not tired at all and would’ve stayed the whole show. I also remember being too small for any of the merch LMAO RIP. And that’s how it all started. Every year, I become more and more proud of the woman who has shaped my life, my friends’ lives (bc I constantly talk about her and make them listen to her), and most of all, the music industry. I thoroughly enjoy every single song she has released, and I stream them all about a gazillion times a year. I have stuck by her side through thick and thin, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving her. Seeing Taylor being recognized as Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade has literally made me feel like a proud dad, even though I’m WAY younger. I cannot wait for what the next decade brings for her music, relationships (👀), and her life. Here’s to the next decade being even better!
