Get To Know Your Neighbor youtube video

This video is based on an American neighbourhood where they have set up an intimate area where 2 people from the neighbourhood sit down and take turns at picking personal questions from the bowl to ask the other person. I thought this was a cool idea as it's a really great ice breaker to start conversations where people will actually learn stuff about each other which could also reveal things in common or spark deeper conversation.

After discussing what we want the stall to actually look like, we came up with the idea of a 90′s bedroom to base our stall around which would give us a baseline of where to place our items etc. Above are images from google for inspiration on what 90′s bedrooms look like. The main things we want to emphasise the 90′s bedroom feel includes:

-posters -rugs -chest (make from cardboard) -bean bags -shelving - a bedside table with lava lamp -tv (hire) -cabinet for tv to sit on with games etc filling it up -books -CDs/DVDs -bead curtain -desk covered in stickers -cassette (UE boom playing music behind it to give the effect of cassette playing)

The childhood graveyard

After we brainstormed these ideas we quite liked the childhood graveyard, we then used a thesaurus to look at other words for graveyard and found necropolis (meaning "city of the dead") we thought it sounded really effective with nineties necropolis using alliteration.

TAKE 5 FINAL PERSPECTIVE

This is my final perspective image of my take 5 building which used a combination of indigo renderer and photoshop. i am very happy with the outcome of this perspective as the lighting is very successful and i have depicted people inhabiting the area and using the features (telescope) of the this structure in particular; uranus.

FINAL TAKE 5 “OTHER”

I decided to keep my twin motion as it was as i put a lot of effort into it and got a lot of positive feedback of the depiction of my site through this video.

FINAL PLAN

Since my section and elevation are shown at night i decided to show my plan during the day to get and idea on different lightings and convey the scene in its busiest time.

FINAL SECTION

This section, i believe, is very effective and sets an appropriate atmosphere within. The atmosphere is created by the use of the night sky, people interacting with the structures and appreciating the stars and also the 2nd dome structure being lit up with the lights creating the illusion of the night sky. For the cut underground i decided to have it black because it is night, however, i added a gritty texture to show there is a dirt/sand substance underground.

FINAL TAKE 5 ELEVATION

i am much happier with the outcome of this elevation than my initial elevation. the stars in the background set an appropriate mood for my mihimihi site which is about astronomy. i also think the silhouettes of people are very effective to depict night time. i also realised that in my other elevations i had been cutting into the ground which is not what an elevation is. For this final elevation I made sure the underground is not seen.

My class feedback was what i expected.

I didn’t feel confident about what I was presenting apart from my twin motion. i felt that my perspective, section and elevation did not flow and sort of looked tacky. The feedback from my peers suggested this also and they said i didn’t have a very strong depiction of my space on paper. I will work very hard to create four coherent images aswell as my twin motion for my final take 5 to depict my site more clearly and create a mood within these images to emphasise my mihimihi theme of astronomy.

Take 5 “other”

i am very happy with this twin motion video as i think it shows that my site is interactive and has an “in and out” feel to it. i also think the video makes clear each structures features and purpose for example in the first structure (earth) you can see people sitting down chilling out.

TAKE 4 INITIAL PERSPECTIVE

i think this perspective works well as it shows the inside of the “Jupiter” structure at night time where the lights are turned on and are projected again the walls to create the illusion of the night sky. i used twin motion and photoshop to create this persecutive and while i am happy with the perspective I think my photoshopping could have been better.

TAKE 5 INITIAL SECTION

i used photoshop and indigo renderer to create this section. I think this could do with a lot of improving as it looks a bit tacky and the structures are very blurry.
