i’m always gonna want you back
2016 was kinda bad but at least we had Niall Horan.
✿ Bro otp: Harry Styles + Ed Sheeran ✿
You still make me nervous when you walk in the room, them butterflies they come alive when I’m next to you, over and over the only truth. Everything comes back to you
And I know that it’s wrong that I can’t move on, but there’s something about you
If the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you
Not to sound dramatic but the scholastic book fair in elementary school is the most pure and genuinely happy place I’ve ever experienced in my life
Not if you were poor and had to watch everybody else buying shit
Sometimes the ones that are hurting the most smile the brightest

Cold Coffee Chapter 112
Harry’s POV
“I can’t believe you are about to be a dad.” Louis said as he put stuffed animals on the shelf.
“I know. It’s a bit surreal isn’t it?” I said looking over from the bed I had just made.
“I’m sure Cali is ready. She’s beautiful but she is so tiny. Watching her wobble around….It just looks painful.” Louis said scrunching his face.
“You should see her little feet.” I laughed.
“Has she seen all of this?” Louis said pointing around the room with a teddy bear.
“Nope she has been off limits from this room. It was my surprise.” I grinned widely looking around at the finished nursery.
I was pretty proud of it. Most people in my position would just hire someone but I wanted to do something for Cali. I had some help from the boys and for that I was so grateful. I wanted the room to be a calm place for Cali, but somewhere for our little one to grow into.
“When will she be back?” Louis asked.
“Any time now. Liam took her to the store. She can’t really drive anymore.” I said and we both laughed. I thought it was so cute how little she was but how big she had gotten.
“Well let’s get the bow on the door then.” He said grabbing the giant bow that we were going to put up on the door. Cali had been impatiently waiting for the big reveal. Truth was I had been working on this for what felt like for forever and now with her about to have our baby any day I figured I should probably finish it up. SO when Liam, who seemed to be at our house almost every day for the last month, offered to drive her to the grocery I texted Louis to get some help with the finish up.
About 45 minutes later I heard the car doors close.
“Shit they are here?” Louis said as we both jumped up. I was nervous. I didn’t doubt she would like it but I wanted it to be everything she wanted. I ran to the door and swung it open. Liam was following behind her with bags. Cali had a bouquet of flowers in her hands.
“Harry look at these lovely flowers Liam found.” She said looking up and smiling.
“Oh those are nice.” I smiled.
“Yea we had stopped for some coffee. Well coffee for him green tea for me. And then when he came back to the car he had these.” She said walking past me. “Oh hey Louis.” She said walking past him in the living room.
“Yea I thought they might look good in the living room.” Liam said pushing past me avoiding eye contact. I looked past him at Louis with a smirk.
“You know Liam your right I bet they would. You know if singing doesn’t pan at you could definitely do interior decorating.” Louis said sarcastically and we both laughed. He and I followed them into the kitchen.
“Did you buy up the whole store Calista?” Louis asked jumping up on a counter and grabbing a hand full of grapes from the bag.
“I just….Everything looked so good.” She giggled as she situated the flowers in her vase.
I was plotting. I needed to get everyone out of here. I wanted to show her the room. But I know how Cali gets if I get to pushy. That’s my girl. Always worrying about other’s feelings.
“Louis…Don’t you have that thing?” I asked looking at him.
“What…Oh yea the thing!” He said jumping off the counter. “Liam can you give me a ride?” Louis said tapping him on the back.
“Your car is out front.” Liam said looking up at him from the bags of food.
“It….ran out of gas.” He said looking over at me and shrugging. Luckily Cali was focused on her flowers and not the exchange or she would have noticed the weirdness.
“Whatever I can do it when I’m done putting these away.” He said rolling his eyes. Louis looked at me and I widened my eyes.
“But I really need to go!” Louis said with a hint of a whine almost like a small child. I almost laughed.
“Well if you need to go that bad Harry can drive you.” Cali said finally joining the conversation.
“No!” We both said at the same time.
“O…K.” Cali said with a smile. “You guys are being weird.”
“Its just…..Harry is really pissing me off. And I….I just really need to go.” Louis said.
Cali giggled as I scrunched my face in confusion. Really? That is all you could come up with.
“Fine come on you.” Liam said standing up straight. “Sorry Cali.” He said walking over and kissing her cheek. Again that tinge of jealousy I had been feeling for the last month or so every time he was around. It had sparked that night he showed up uninvited and had dinner with us. The fact was I had been noticing things. He was always there always around always helping. And I know it was stupid but GOD he was always so helpful. I appreciated it at times but then there were other times where it was like geez really don’t you have your own home. He was like a lost puppy.
“No thank you for all your help. And for the beautiful flowers.” Cali said giving him a hug.
“Have a good night Harry.” He said giving me a soft smile.
“You too Liam and thanks for offering to take her.” I said hugging him. He tensed but hugged back.
I walked them to the door and waved goodbye. Then returned to the kitchen. Cali had started putting away the groceries. “Nope.” I said taking some frozen peas from her hand.
“Harry.” She said with a laugh.
“I have a surprise.” I smirked.
“Well I can’t wait to see it. But we have to at least put away all the cold stuff or it will go bad.” She said kneeling down to pick up more.
“I can do that.” I said bending down quickly.
“So can I.” She laughed.
“Let me do it I’m faster. Then the surprise.” I said grabbing an armful of frozen vegetables and shoving them into the freezer. Cali shook her head but leaned back against the counter.
I think it took me maybe 5 minutes to put away all the fresh fruit and vegetables and the rest of the frozen stuff. Cali looked on, watching me like I was a mad man.
“Ok that’s that. Ready?” I asked standing up slightly out of breath.
“Yea I guess.” She giggled. I grabbed her hand and lead her down the hall. She could see the big bow on the door. I felt her squeeze my hand. “Finally?” She asked. I stopped.
“Alright close your eyes.” I said putting my hand over her eyes for a second. When I moved it her eyes were closed. I took her hands and lead her the rest of the way.
“Ok ready?” I asked
“Yes!” She said almost in a scream. She was so excited she was bouncing.
“Alright one….”
“Harry open the damn door before I kill you.” She said quickly and I laughed.
“Alright here we go.” I said twisting the knob and pushing the door. I lead her in to the middle of the room. “Ok Open.” I said smiling. He eyes fluttered open and her mouth opened.
“Well?” I asked.
“Oh My God Harry.” She said spinning around taking it all in.
“I know that you wanted to keep it unisex because you don’t trust the ultrasound machines so I thought yellow and green. It can go either way.”
“It’s so perfect Harry.” She said covering her mouth. Tears were forming in her eyes and I felt so proud.
“You did all of this by yourself?” She asked turning to face me.
“Well your brother and the rest of the guys helped but yea no professional help.” I said crossing my arms and looking around.
“It looks like it came from a magazine.” She smiled.
“Well if the music career doesn’t pan out maybe…” I started but she crossed over and hugged me tightly.
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.” She said over and over.
“Hey this if for us. All three of us.” I said kissing the top of her head.
“I love the bed too.” She said looking up at me.
“Yea my mom told me I should do it. It’s called like a Nanny Bed or something like that. But it’s so if the baby gets up you can sleep in here.”
“Your mom is a genius.” Cali laughed.
“She knows a thing or two about babies.”
We spent the rest of the night exploring the nursery and laying on the bed and talking about the future. Cali was so excited about our future. What was to come for us and our little family? It made me fall more in love with her if it was possible. Her face lit up when she talked about her plans. I could sit and listen to her forever. Eventually she got hungry and I made us a quick dinner. Then I put the rest of the groceries away and we headed off to bed.
Cali wasn’t supposed to be going out and about. But she hated being cooped up in the house. And I wasn’t one to tell her no. Not that I didn’t want to I just knew she would do it anyways. So when she said she wanted to go shopping I agreed to go. Niall was going to tag along. I didn’t want to pry into his current situation with Lucy. I knew we would be able to tell without asking. Niall was never very good at masking his feelings.
“We need to find feeding pillows.” She said from the passenger seat as I drove the three of us to some boutique she had been talking about. Niall was quiet which wasn’t super abnormal but I knew he was thinking about something. He had his forehead scrunched up like he does when he is thinking.
Lucky for us the boutique didn’t have hardly anyone in it. We were free to roam like we pleased as opposed to having to hurry. Cali was quite happy about that and if she is happy I’m happy.
We walked through the store looking at random items. This trip was obviously more for her than for me but I couldn’t have cared less. She was glowing, she was happy and she was all mine. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. She went on and on about this pillow. It was absolutely ridiculous. Pregnant brain babble. And yet it was the cutest damn thing I had ever seen.
“Um here is that blanket you were talking about in the car ride over,"Niall said holding up a blanket that I am pretty sure she had looked at before.
"Oh awesome thanks Ni!” Cali said.“I read up about this blanket like fifty times and its guaranteed warmth.” I held in a small laugh at the ridiculousness of what she had said. Niall couldn’t.
“Aren’t all blankets guaranteed warmth?” He said laughing at her.
“Well Cali has been researching everything and there’s something about the thread count or whatever that is better for the baby. And it won’t irritate their skin too,” I smiled. The fact of the matter was if my child wasn’t the warmest softest, least gassiest child ever born in the UK I would be surprised. Between Cali’s crazy reading up on thread counts and what angles to hold a child to avoid gas and my insistence of already having almost a year’s worth of baby powder at home you would think we were going to have some sort of holy child. We were so cautious and in need of knowing everything so that we were perfect first time parents, I’m pretty sure that by the time our baby was here we were going to have to see some sort of psychologist for all our anxieties.
“Wow, fancy ass blanket,” Niall quipped and I almost laughed again.
“What’s an ass blanket?” Cali laughed.
“Shut up. What were you looking at over there?” Niall asked nodding behind us.
“Oh it’s some pillow thing for feeding. I’m going to go ask about it actually,” Cali said turning to look for a store clerk.
“Wait,” I said grabbing her quickly to give her a quick kiss “now go.”
I turned and watched her waddle away. I think it’s one of the things I will miss most about her being pregnant. My little duck.
“Dude if you could refrain from kissing my sister in front of me that would be great. Still not used to that.” Niall said snapping me out of staring at her.
“Oh shut up we are just in love, like you didn’t know that,” I said with a nudge.
I watched as Cali turned and gave me a wink. She was too damn cute.
“You know how it feels, you’re in deep too,” I said looking over at Niall.
“Yeah… I don’t know,” He sighed. Suddenly things were serious. He looked sad.
“What do you mean? Are things not going well with Lucy?” I asked and before he could say anything Cali was walking up.
“Things aren’t going well with Lucy?” She asked looking concerned.
“No no they are, there’s just. Well there’s something that’s going on that I’m not sure about; and I’m pretty sure I found out what that was today,” Niall said looking at us. I was sort of confused but Cali being her intuitive self picked right up on what was going on.
“Like she was keeping a secret from you?” She asked.
“Not much of a secret per say, more like something I never asked about and just assumed and when I finally asked I didn’t like her answer.” Niall answered.
“What didn’t you like about her answer?” Cali pressed.
“It just wasn’t what I expected.”
“Does that change the way you feel about her?” Cali asked looking concerned. She and Lucy weren’t 100% yet but she still cared even if she wouldn’t totally admit it.
“No of course not. It just makes me question our future because it’s obvious that we want different things.” Niall said looking down at his shuffling feet.
“Do you think that it’s something you can move past?” Cali asked tilting her head to the side.
“I… I don’t know. I think it’s something her and I need to talk about more.”
“I say you talk about it, but consider what she’s gotten over for you, you know?” I said not really thinking. It was more like word vomit. But the words rang true.
“What do you mean?” Niall asked.
“Well I don’t know about you, but, I know that when Cali told me about the baby I freaked out - you know you were there. And I didn’t want it now because I thought that it was something I was going to wait for. Something that we would have done in the future when it was more convenient. But I look at Cali and I realize that she gave up everything for me. Why couldn’t I get on board with this and in my case it was stupid because it was something we both wanted, it just came as a surprise.” I smiled with my arm around Cali.
“I gave up on my job and school after the accident, and with Harry’s career it only made sense that we shouldn’t have a baby now, but I couldn’t not do it. And with all things considered, Harry is putting his life on hold for this but… it’s what you do when you’re in love. You consider the other person as well as yourself and make compromises.” She added.
Niall nodded.
“It just feels like something is missing. She always looks at me like there’s something I’m missing or something that she wants and I just don’t know what it is.”
“Do you ever think maybe she wants to get married?” I said with a shrug. It seemed only natural to me. I mean her best friend was married with a baby. They had been together for a while. They lived together like they were married the only thing missing was the title.
“Married?” Niall asked but more in general not really to anyone.
“She loves you Niall, of course she’d want to marry you. Maybe that is what she’s been waiting for like… it’s what your missing but you can’t see it and she doesn’t want to force you.” Cali said as she hugged him.
“But she hasn’t said anything to me, how would I have missed it if she never mentioned anything?” Niall asked looking even more confused.
“Maybe she doesn’t really know how to say it. She probably wants it but doesn’t know how to tell you.” Cali said looking at me.
“So you’re saying I should propose?” Niall asked.
“No,” I spat out quickly, “I’m saying you should think about it and maybe talk to her about it and see if that’s what she wants.”
“Or you could propose,” Cali said a little too excited. I didn’t want him to jump in to quick. We were looking at this from and outward perspective. We hadn’t seen any of these fights, or how she had been lately. I didn’t want to be the cause for more issues. And jumping in to quickly is a mistake.
“Calista,” I laughed, “don’t tell him that because he really will propose.”
“You guys are right,” He said with a big grin.
Oh no,“ Cali grinned, "what are you doing?”
“I’ll see you guys later,” He said quickly turning on his heels
“Niall wait,” I said quickly realizing what was happening, “are you sure?”
“Yes!” He said still grinning widely, “I’m going to propose to Lucy!”
And then he was gone. I looked over at Cali and she was smiling almost identically to him. I took a deep breath.
“What?” She asked looking at me.
“Nothing.” I said not wanting to dampen things.
“Say it Styles.” She said hitting me with a blanket.
“I just….I’m hungry.” I said smiling at her.
I wasn’t really hungry. I was just worried. Niall like Cali had a tendency to act before thinking. I just hoped for my friend’s sake that it would work out.
I had to admit I was excited. The thought of Niall and Lucy getting married was something that we all expected. But the fact that it was coming was almost nerve racking. Not to mention he had dropped off the face of the earth since he had announced he was going to propose and ran out of the store.
Cali seemed preoccupied over the last couple of days. She was achy and sensitive. I caught her crying over a pickle commercial the other morning. While I would miss my little duck waddling around I definitely wouldn’t miss those awkward moments.
We sat on the long couch facing each other. She had a bowl of popcorn balanced on her stomach and she was throwing kernels at me as I tried to catch them in my mouth. We had a movie going but our little game became way more entertaining than the film.
“Wider!” She said holding up a piece.
“Ahhhh?” I asked with my moan.
“Okay ready…1…2….3!” She said tossing it high. The kernel flew through the air and landed on my forehead.
“Damn it.” She said shaking her fist in the air. Her wiggling made the bowl jiggle and she jerked quickly to catch it.
“Easy.” I said with a laugh.
“Mmm.” She said grabbing at her stomach.
“What?” I asked.
“Gas….Or child on the rib cage.” She said resituating herself.
“Sexy babe.” I said with a laugh.
“Hey you did this.” She said pointing at her stomach.
“Speaking of doing things….” I said sitting up. “Have you heard from Niall?”
“NO that asshole is MIA.” She said sitting up and grabbing the bowl.
“Language.” I said quickly.
She rolled her eyes.
“Hopefully that’s a good thing.” I said.
“Of course it is.” Cali said eating some popcorn. “Its Lucy and Niall.”
“Yea but Cali they have been fighting a lot.”
“Harry stop.”
“No I know it’s just….I am worried.”
“No Harry seriously stop.” She said looking at the TV.
“Yea maybe you are right.” I said turning to face the TV.
“Oh?” She said softly.
“What?” I said looking at her.
“Oh…ouch.” She said.
“What?” I asked scrunching my face.
“Ouch!” She said louder standing up. And then with that her pants were….wet. Water. Her water had broken!

Cold Coffee Chapter 113
Niall's POV
It had been a month and a half since Lucy and I patched up our argument. And I mean things were going well, but there was still some strain. We weren't jumping back and forth from fighting to having sex, but it was a little less... I don't know, upbeat I guess would be the right word.
I figured with being a nurses assistant and taking classes online Lucy was probably just stressed and tired and it wasn't my fault. But no matter how many nice little things I did there always seemed to be something that I was missing and couldn't put my finger on. Like she was keeping something from me and I didn't know what it was.
However we did agree to talk to each other about everything so I figured when the time was right, she would let me know what was going on. So I gave her the space that she needed and continued to be the boyfriend I knew how to be.
I was in the middle of making breakfast when Lucy came downstairs. I took the toast out of the toaster and started to butter it while the kettle boiled.
"Morning Luce," I smiled seeing her in the corner of my eye as she approached.
"Hey babe," she said sleepily kissing my cheek, "making breakfast? Wow, you continue to surprise me every day."
"It's just toast and tea, nothing fancy," I shrugged, "but I know you need some kind of caffeine to get through your day, and you don't drink coffee," I said winking.
"You're so cute when you talk about how much you know me,"she laughed reaching beside her to grab the tea cups, "but today is a rest day, thank god."
I smiled, taking the plate of toast slices over to the table and Lucy followed me with our tea, "so nothing planned today?"
"Not that I know of," she shrugged, sitting across from me, "Just relaxing and spending some time with my man I guess," she grinned.
"I like the sound of that," I said smiling at her before taking a sip of my tea.
After breakfast we cleaned up and I headed up to the shower. The hot water running down my body felt nice and I closed my eyes just in complete content. I heard the door open and grinned to myself when I heard the shower door opening and Lucy getting in with me.
"Well hello there," I smiled turning and taking her naked waist with my hands, pulling her close to me, "is it shower time?"
"Well yes Ni, thats why I got in the shower," she laughed pressing her body against mine.
"No I mean... is it shower time," I said leaning my head against hers; she knew what I was referring to and I didn't mean cleaning ourselves.
"Unfortunately this shower needs to include soap and washing," she said reaching past me to get the shampoo.
"Oh mixing it up with soap, Im intrigued," I said leaning closer and kissing her. To my disappointment she broke off the kiss and laughed.
"No I mean I actually need to shower and thought we'd save time. Julie called and asked if we could babysit Matthew - she has some job interview or something," she sighed turning us so she could get her hair wet.
"Why don't you sound excited to spend time with your nephew?" I grinned raising my eyebrow.
"Because I haven't really been around kids, how do you entertain a 4 year old?" she asked.
"It's not that hard," I laughed, "we will get through it don't you worry, I got you babe," I winked.
"Thank God for you," she smiled leaning forwards and kissing me before rinsing her hair off.
After our shower I headed downstairs to get some stuff ready for Julie's son to come over. We were rushing a little because well, we did have shower time despite Lucy's efforts to resist me. What can I say? I'm a convincing man.
I was assessing our grocery situation when the apartment buzzer went off. I walked over looking up the stairs to see Lucy still wasn't ready but I headed to the buzzer anyways.
"Hey it's me!" Julie's voice said when I answered the call.
"come on up!" I said letting them in. A few seconds later there was a knock at the door and I answered it smiling softly.
"Hey guys, good timing I just came downstairs."
"Hey Ni," Julie said,"sorry to drop him on you like this, I just got this call for the interview and I didn't have a sitter."
"No problem," I smiled, "we will have a great afternoon right bud?"
"YES!" Matthew shouted running in and giving my legs a hug before running more into the apartment.
"Made himself at home already," Julie laughed. I laughed too and she held up a bag to me, "this is just a couple things he may need. His favourite book, a game he likes to play and a few granola bars in case he gets hungry."
"Awesome, you guys came prepared, we just ran out of everything you can feed a child in this house," I laughed.
Lucy emerged from upstairs with her hair still wet but she had changed, "Hey Julie sorry I just got out of the shower."
"No problem, I'm just getting ready to go. Wish me luck," she smiled crossing her fingers.
"Good luck,"Lucy said hugging and kissing her on the cheek quickly, "let us know how it goes when you get back."
"Will do!" she said giving a wave and heading down the stairwell.
"So," I said closing the door and clapping my hands together, "what should we do first?" I asked.
"Oh Oh Oh!" Matthew said running over to me, "can we go to the park again and kick the ball around?"
"Only if you call it what I told you to call it," I said grinning.
"Right! Can we go to the park and play real life FIFA?" Matthew said with huge eyes.
Lucy laughed, "real life FIFA?"
"Don't hate," I said, "everyone can dream that they're in the game for real!"
She laughed, "well we can't go to the park it just started snowing outside."
"Cant we play in the snow? Please?" Matthew asked looking up at her.
"Well," she said sighing, "I-I don't know Niall?"
I knew she was right but Matthew wanted to so badly, but I had to agree with her, "sorry buddy, looks like we will have to do something inside."
"Okay," he sighed, "can we colour?"
The next few hours passed by in a flash. 4 year olds have so much energy it's insane. At some points I could tell Lucy was frustrated but I always jumped in and helped out with the situation. Matthew was high maintenance but he was a good kid and relatively easy to please. He just got distracted easily and changed what he wanted to do every five seconds - you know a typical kid.
Julie picked him up after 4 hours and thanked us again, I smiled closing the door and turning to Lucy who had her hands gripping the roots of her hair.
"Thank god, that it's over," she sighed closing her eyes.
"Oh it wasn't that bad," I smiled walking over to her, "you did great," I kissed her softly and walked to the kitchen to get some water.
"Kids are so much work," she said walking to follow me, "he was so hyper how does Julie do it?"
I laughed lightly, "it's probably different when it's your own kid. I'm sure you'll feel differently when it's our kids."
"Yeah, not so sure I even want kids after that," she scoffed.
I laughed at herjoke, "very funny. You are going to be a wonderful mother," I said handing her a glass of water.
"Yeah well, seeing Matthew run around all day really turns off that idea," she said taking a sip.
I studied her for a second, "what do you mean?"
"I mean," she said situating herself, "kids were always in the back of my mind anyways and now just seeing how much work they are I don't think I can handle it."
"Are you saying you don't want kids?" I asked, starting to worry.
"At this point in my life, no I don't," she sighed.
"What about in a few years? You may change your mind?" My heart was racing a little.
"Never know, but for now I know I don't want kids. Im happy being an aunt."
"Lucy... thats kind of a problem for me," I said looking into her eyes.
"Why?" she asked, "I mean I know you love kids but... like we can decide that later. It's a lot of responsibility."
"Well yeah but I want to be a dad, this isn't a surprise to you," I said standing up straight from my leaning position on the counter, "you haven't ever said you didn't want kids."
"Well it never came up," she said with a look on her face as if i shouldn't have been getting upset, "it's just kids Niall we can talk about this later on like in a few years when it really matters."
"It matters to me," I said, "Cali and Harry are having kids and they're younger than us!"
"Yeah and look how thats going to screw things up Niall! His career will take the back burner, Cali's already has. I don't need to destroy your dream or mine and everything we have worked for just to be even more stressed out."
"So you're saying never?" I asked getting upset.
"No, not never. Just not now and I'm not sure about later."
I didn't know what to say, this changed everything. I wanted kids and the sooner the better... but now I wasn't sure what to think.
"Niall, I don't want to fight about this," she said coming around the counter and running her hands up and down my arms, "can we just talk about this later? or drop it for now and just enjoy today?"
"I guess," I said with a sigh. She hugged me tightly and I hugged her back, unsure of how to feel.
A few hours later Lucy ran out to get some books from the library and then some groceries. I decided the best time to call Cali was when Lucy was out so there was no argument. She said they were going baby shopping for the nursery and invited me to come. As if kids weren't on my mind enough, I figured if I went with them I may be able to get my mind off of this and focus on my niece or nephew coming into the picture.
The store wasn't that busy which was nice, because Harry and I got sick of having to disguise ourselves and try our best to hide Cali. Luckily in London it wasn't as uncommon to see us so we weren't getting swarmed all the time. We were looking in the section for some blankets and stuff and I saw something Cali had been talking about earlier so I turned to tell her.
I saw the two of them together like I was an outsider who didn't know them; Harry had his arm around her and she was talking about something but he couldn't take his eyes off of her to look at whatever she was talking about. It was like she was the only person in the world. I had caught her eying him like that earlier too, and it makes me wonder... does Lucy look at me that way from the outside? I know that half the time she's talking and I can't stop staring at her because this beautiful woman is mine.
I see Harry finally look at the pillow or whatever that Cali is talking about and he smiles. Its magical to see two people light up so much around each other. When they walk over to me I break my stare and clear my throat.
"Um here is that blanket you were talking about in the car ride over," I said holding it up to her.
"Oh awesome thanks Ni!" Cali says reaching out and taking it from me, "I read up about this blanket like fifty times and its guaranteed warmth," she said nodding and smiling between me and Harry.
"Aren't all blankets guaranteed warmth?" I laughed looking at her and then Harry who was grinning.
"Well Cali has been researching everything and there's something about the thread count or whatever that is better for the baby. And it won't irritate their skin too," Harry said nodding with his eyebrows raised. He was obviously humouring her but he had paid attention.
"Wow, fancy ass blanket," I said.
"What's an ass blanket?" Cali laughed mocking me.
"Shut up," I said smiling, "what were you looking at over there?"
"Oh it's some pillow thing for feeding. Im going to go ask about it actually," she said going to turn away.
"Wait," Harry said pulling her back gently and kissing her quickly on the lips, "now go."
She smirked and walked away from us towards the sales lady.
Harry walked to stand beside me, but I think its so he could watch her walk away.
"Dude if you could refrain from kissing my sister in front of me that would be great," I laughed, "Still not used to that."
"Oh shut up we are just in love, like you didn't know that," he said nudging me.
"Obviously," I sighed. I saw Cali glance our way and give Harry a wink; he laughed beside me.
"You know how it feels, you're in deep too," He said finally looking over at me.
"Yeah... I don't know," I said sighing.
"What do you mean?" Harry asked frowning a little, "things not going well with Lucy?"
"Things aren't going well with Lucy?" Cali repeated walking over to us.
"No no they are, there's just. Well there's something thats going on that I'm not sure about; and Im pretty sure I found out what that was today," I looked between both of them, hoping they wouldn't ask me what happened.
Thankfully, my sister knew me well, "Like she was keeping a secret from you?"
"Not much of a secret per say, more like something I never asked about and just assumed and when I finally asked I didn't like her answer."
"What didn't you like about her answer?"
"It just wasn't what I expected."
"Does that change the way you feel about her?"
"No of course not," I said standing up straight, "it just makes me question our future because its obvious that we want different things."
"Do you think that its something you can move past?" Cali asked tilting her head to the side.
"I... I don't know," I said rubbing the back of my neck, "I think its something her and I need to talk about more."
Cali nodded and Harry shrugged, "I say you talk about it, but consider what she's gotten over for you, you know?"
"What do you mean?" I said.
"Well I don't know about you, but," Harry smiled putting his arm around Cali and pulling her close, "I know that when Cali told me about the baby I freaked out - you know you were there. And I didn't want it now because I thought that it was something I was going to wait for. Something that we would have done in the future when it was more convenient. But I look at Cali and I realize that she gave up everything for me. Why couldn't I get on board with this and in my case it was stupid because it was something we both wanted, it just came as a surprise."
"I gave up on my job and school after the accident, and with Harry's career it only made sense that we shouldnt have a baby now, but I couldn't not do it. And with all things considered, Harry is putting his life on hold for this but... it's what you do when your in love. You consider the other person as well as yourself and make compromises."
I nodded knowing that they were right, but I couldn't shake the feeling I had.
"It just feels like something is missing," I said sighing, "she always looks at me like theres something I'm missing or something that she wants and I just don't know what it is."
"Do you ever think maybe she wants to get married?" Harry asked shrugging.
"Married?" I asked, I mean the thought has crossed my mind but I didn't think she really had thought about it.
"She loves you Niall," Cali laughed walking over to hug me, "of course she'd want to marry you. Maybe that is what she's been waiting for like... it's what your missing but you can't see it and she doesn't want to force you."
"But she hasn't said anything to me, how would I have missed it if she never mentioned anything?"
Cali shrugged and looked at Harry then back at me, "maybe she doesn't really know how to say it. She probably wants it but doesn't know how to tell you."
"So you're saying I should propose?" I asked looking at them.
"No," Harry smiled, "I'm saying you should think about it and maybe talk to her about it and see if thats what she wants."
"Or you could propose," Cali said.
"Calista," Harry laughed, "don't tell him that because he really will propose."
Then it all hit me. What if that was it? She had been more into our relationship than ever, and she did talk about our future a lot which was amazing. And I couldn't be happier with her than I was... but the kids thing.
But Cali and Harry said it was about compromise. It wasn't about everything that just I wanted it was about what we wanted.
"You guys are right," I smiled at them, "you guys are totally right!"
"Oh no," Cali grinned, "what are you doing?"
"I'll see you guys later," I said going to turn out of the store.
"Niall wait," Harry said, "are you sure?"
"Yes!" I smiled, "I'm going to propose to Lucy!"
I walked out of the store and across the street to where the mini complex was that I knew had a jeweler. I had to find the perfect ring. It needed to be everything Lucy wanted. She had told me about it a long time ago now all I had to do was remember what it looked like. It would come to me when I got there.
The proposal had to be perfect. It had to be subtle but something she would notice and take her by surprise but not the kind that makes you nervous. Now I know I am jumping into this, but it wasn't going to be without planning. I wasn't going to do it that night, but it was going to be as soon as I could. I was thinking something cliche that would make her smile but she couldn't say no to.
After two long days of planning I finally figured it out. I found the perfect ring - I asked Julie and Cali both to give me some input and of course they told me exactly what I knew already. The ring was expensive sure, but it was nothing. Nothing was too much for Lucy.
I prepped all night long while she was asleep, I don't think she noticed because she was tired. She had been working all day and then studying all night for some exam she had coming up, so I let her sleep in peace while I made sure everything was falling into place.
The next morning I sent her off to work with a tea and some lunch; she kissed me quickly before running out so she wouldn't be late. I cooked and cleaned and prepped all day. I know it sounds like I was going all out, but really I did a few things here and there and mostly stressed the rest of the time.
After my shower I looked into the mirror, "you can do this Niall," i sighed trying to prep myself, "don't pussy out on this. She loves you, and you love her. Just do it."
Finally the time had come. I had cooked and everything was ready waiting under the warmers on the table. When I heard the door open I walked over to her.
"Well hello beautiful," I smiled leaning in to kiss her.
"Hey," she smiled against my lips, "someone looks happy."
"Why wouldn't I be?" I grinned taking her coat and hanging it on the rack before turning to her and taking her hand, "follow me into the dining room if you will."
"Oh I will," she smiled and laughed a little, "something smells amazing."
"Well only the best for you," I said pulling her seat out for her. She sat down and I moved to sit across from her, "I made all of your favorites. Steak, steamed broccoli and a baked potato."
"Oh my god," she smiled looking down at her plate, "you got all of my favorites right down to the potato."
"Don't worry there's more potatoes I just figured one to start would be good and then if you wanted another it would be good or another-,"
"Niall," she laughed taking my hand, "this is incredible."
"You are incredible," I smiled, "I also got some wine for us I thought you'd like that with your dinner."
She smiled, "Bubbly moscato?"
"Well yeah because I know you don't like champagne," I shrugged pouring some into her glass.
"Why thank you Mr. Horan," she said raising her glass.
"Thank you for joining me," I winked and we clinked glasses.
Dinner was perfect, we ate and chatted and had everything just completely blissful like it had been for a while. After she had eaten enough and I definitely had, I was ready for the next part.
"Dessert?" I asked.
"There's MORE food?" She laughed leaning back in her chair.
"Well duh, just because Cali doesn't live here anymore doesn't mean we go short on the food," I winked, "head on over to the living room and I'll meet you there."
She smiled and walked into the other room; I went to the kitchen to grab the most important part. I looked at the ring and took a deep breath, "this is going to work," I mentally told myself.
The living room was set up in a very cozy fashion. I had the fireplace going, a blanket on the floor in a picnic style but the couch was welcoming too. I walked in with some dessert in my hands and I sat the plate down in front of her.
"One more thing," I said running into the kitchen and coming back with two pints of beer.
"Beer and dessert?" she laughed.
"Yes, remember who you're dating," I grinned placing the beer in front of her, "Beer is a must when we are having a fire."
"Well, fire place," she smiled.
"Same old same old," I shrugged, "it's too cold outside to use the fire pit."
"Touche," she winked taking a sip of her beer, "So what's for dessert?"
"Chocolate cake - from a box so don't get too excited," I said handing her the plate.
"Niall," she smiled, "this is amazing. Why did you do all of this tonight?" She asked taking a bite of the cake.
"Well for many reasons," I said feeling myself get nervous, "one of them being that I love you."
"And I love you," she grinned leaning forwards and kissing me.
"Another reason being that, I can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together. I don't want to ever stop doing this kind of thing for you, I live to see you smile like that."
"Niall," she said smiling; I hadn't seen that smile in so long.
"I love you Lucy," I began.
She was smiling holding her hand over her chest as if to hold her heart still; it was working.
"You made me realize what its like to be in love, and what it means to be a man who cares for someone else so much that... I couldn't live without you."
"I couldn't be without you either," she smiled.
"After our chat the other day I got to thinking. I know that you don't want kids right now, and maybe not ever," I said looking at her.
"Niall.."
"And I know that I want kids and with you, but if you woke up one day and decided you didn't want them. I wouldn't care; because all I want is you. You are everything I've ever wanted and I can't think of anything that would be more important than you and our future."
"I.." she said, her smile fading a little. I think she was figuring out what I was doing but I didn't care. I needed to just ask her.
"So because of that, I need to ask you something," I said swallowing a little too hard but remaining positive.
"Ask," she said looking into my eyes.
"Lucy Marks," I said situating myself, "I know that we have been together for a long time now but it feels like just yesterday that I met you at the coffee house. I remember seeing you and my whole world changed. You changed me Lucy," I took a deep breath and got onto my knee, pulling the ring from my pocket, "Lucy, will you marry me?"
She was silent, her hands were over her mouth and there were tears falling from her eyes. At first I thought she was just shocked and then it was too silent for a moment.
"Lucy?" I asked trying to search her eyes.
"I.. I.." she tried but shook her head and stood up quickly walking over near the dining room.
I was confused, so I followed her. I placed my hand on the small of her back and turned her to face me.
"Lucy what's going on?"
"Niall you just.. you proposed to me," she cried a little.
"Well yeah..." I said with a half smile, "I want you to be my wife."
"I can't."
Cant.
"What?" I asked feeling my heart sink into my stomach.
"I can't marry you Niall, not yet," she said wiping some tears from her eyes.
"What do you mean not yet?" I asked feeling more numb by the second.
"I don't want kids Niall, and I am not ready to change everything like that. Marriage is a huge commitment and it's a huge change and-,"
"I understand that, but I told you I'd give up having kids for you... I thought we already had a stone commitment..." I was so confused, and hurt.
"I don't want to marry you right now Niall," she said shaking her head, "I can't say yes right now this isn't what I want. I know someday I will but-,"
"How far away is someday?" I asked not wanting to know the answer.
"I... I don't know Niall."
"You don't know?"
"No. I don't know. I don't know if it will be ever," she said letting some more tears fall.
I stood there for a second looking around at everything I had planned; I looked from Lucy to the ring and kept my eyes fixed on the floor. She didn't want this. She may never want this. I was so far off it wasn't even funny how far off I was.
I wanted a commitment, and a family and love. I wanted to start building my life and getting everything started. Lucy didn't want any of this any time soon or maybe even ever.
"So what does our future look like to you?" I asked turning to her; hurt and a little angry.
"Why do we have to think about the future? Why can't we just think about now and what we have here," she said taking a step towards me.
"Answer the question..." I said feeling tears bubble over my eyes.
"I don't know Niall... I want you in my future but I know I also don't want to get married or have kids anytime soon and... I don't know when I will. Can't we just wait it out until we are both ready"
"No." I said feeling the answer just rise from my throat.
"What?" she asked me as if I took her by surprise.
"No Lucy. No we can't," I said trying to fight back tears.
"Niall... what are you saying?" she asked me, looking like she had seen a ghost.
"I'm saying I can't do this anymore Lucy," I said letting the tears fall, "I can't keep waiting for you to be ready for everything and I'm not in the same place. I want a family, I want a life together. I don't want to play this game anymore."
"There's no game Niall!"
"Maybe there isn't, but I think you need to figure out what you're looking for in life because I already know what I want."
"So... you're done?" she asked blinking tears from her eyes.
"Yeah," I said holding back a sob, "Yeah Lucy I'm done."
As if the timing was perfect, my cell phone rang. and rang and rang. I decided to leave it for a while but when it went off three times in the silence I checked. I wiped my tears and answered seeing it was Harry.
"Hey Haz, now isn't really a-,"
"Niall! The baby is here!"
Cold Coffee Chapter 112
Harry's POV
"I can't believe you are about to be a dad." Louis said as he put stuffed animals on the shelf.
"I know. It's a bit surreal isn't it?" I said looking over from the bed I had just made.
"I'm sure Cali is ready. She's beautiful but she is so tiny. Watching her wobble around....It just looks painful." Louis said scrunching his face.
"You should see her little feet." I laughed.
"Has she seen all of this?" Louis said pointing around the room with a teddy bear.
"Nope she has been off limits from this room. It was my surprise." I grinned widely looking around at the finished nursery.
I was pretty proud of it. Most people in my position would just hire someone but I wanted to do something for Cali. I had some help from the boys and for that I was so grateful. I wanted the room to be a calm place for Cali, but somewhere for our little one to grow into.
"When will she be back?" Louis asked.
"Any time now. Liam took her to the store. She can't really drive anymore." I said and we both laughed. I thought it was so cute how little she was but how big she had gotten.
"Well let's get the bow on the door then." He said grabbing the giant bow that we were going to put up on the door.
"Shit they are here?" Louis said as we both jumped up. I was nervous. I didn't doubt she would like it but I wanted it to be everything she wanted. I ran to the door and swung it open. Liam was following behind her with bags. Cali had a bouquet of flowers in her hands.
"Harry look at these lovely flowers Liam found." She said looking up and smiling.
"Oh those are nice." I smiled.
"Yea we had stopped for some coffee. Well coffee for him green tea for me. And then when he came back to the car he had these." She said walking past me. "Oh hey Louis." She said walking past him in the living room.
"Yea I thought they might look good in the living room." Liam said pushing past me avoiding eye contact. I looked past him at Louis with a smirk.
"You know Liam your right I bet they would. You know if singing doesn't pan at you could definitely do interior decorating." Louis said sarcastically and we both laughed. He and I followed them into the kitchen.
"Did you buy up the whole store Calista?" Louis asked jumping up on a counter and grabbing a hand full of grapes from the bag.
"I just....Everything looked so good." She giggled as she situated the flowers in her vase.
I was plotting. I needed to get everyone out of here. I wanted to show her the room. But I know how Cali gets if I get to pushy. That's my girl. Always worrying about other's feelings.
"Louis...Don't you have that thing?" I asked looking at him.
"What...Oh yea the thing!" He said jumping off the counter. "Liam can you give me a ride?" Louis said tapping him on the back.
"Your car is out front." Liam said looking up at him from the bags of food.
"It....ran out of gas." He said looking over at me and shrugging. Luckily Cali was focused on her flowers and not the exchange or she would have noticed the weirdness.
"Whatever I can do it when I'm done putting these away." He said rolling his eyes. Louis looked at me and I widened my eyes.
"But I really need to go!" Louis said with a hint of a whine almost like a small child. I almost laughed.
"Well if you need to go that bad Harry can drive you." Cali said finally joining the conversation.
"No!" We both said at the same time.
"O...K." Cali said with a smile. "You guys are being weird."
"Its just.....Harry is really pissing me off. And I....I just really need to go." Louis said.
Cali giggled as I scrunched my face in confusion. Really? That is all you could come up with.
"Fine come on you." Liam said standing up straight. "Sorry Cali." He said walking over and kissing her cheek. Again that tinge of jealousy I had been feeling for the last month or so every time he was around. It had sparked that night he showed up uninvited and had dinner with us. The fact was I had been noticing things. He was always there always around always helping. And I know it was stupid but GOD he was always so helpful. I appreciated it at times but then there were other times where it was like geez really don't you have your own home. He was like a lost puppy.
"No thank you for all your help. And for the beautiful flowers." Cali said giving him a hug.
"Have a good night Harry." He said giving me a soft smile.
"You too Liam and thanks for offering to take her." I said hugging him. He tensed but hugged back.
I walked them to the door and waved goodbye. Then returned to the kitchen. Cali had started putting away the groceries. "Nope." I said taking some frozen peas from her hand.
"Harry." She said with a laugh.
"I have a surprise." I smirked.
"Well I can't wait to see it. But we have to at least put away all the cold stuff or it will go bad." She said kneeling down to pick up more.
"I can do that." I said bending down quickly.
"So can I." She laughed.
"Let me do it I'm faster. Then the surprise." I said grabbing an armful of frozen vegetables and shoving them into the freezer. Cali shook her head but leaned back against the counter.
I think it took me maybe 5 minutes to put away all the fresh fruit and vegetables and the rest of the frozen stuff. Cali looked on, watching me like I was a mad man.
"Ok that's that. Ready?" I asked standing up slightly out of breath.
"Yea I guess." She giggled. I grabbed her hand and lead her down the hall. She could see the big bow on the door. I felt her squeeze my hand. "Finally?" She asked. I stopped.
"Alright close your eyes." I said putting my hand over her eyes for a second. When I moved it her eyes were closed. I took her hands and lead her the rest of the way.
"Ok ready?" I asked
"Yes!" She said almost in a scream. She was so excited she was bouncing.
"Alright one...."
"Harry open the damn door before I kill you." She said quickly and I laughed.
"Alright here we go." I said twisting the knob and pushing the door. I lead her in to the middle of the room. "Ok Open." I said smiling. He eyes fluttered open and her mouth opened.
"Well?" I asked.
"Oh My God Harry." She said spinning around taking it all in.
"I know that you wanted to keep it unisex because you don't trust the ultrasound machines so I thought yellow and green. It can go either way."
"It's so perfect Harry." She said covering her mouth. Tears were forming in her eyes and I felt so proud.
"You did all of this by yourself?" She asked turning to face me.
"Well your brother and the rest of the guys helped but yea no professional help." I said crossing my arms and looking around.
"It looks like it came from a magazine." She smiled.
"Well if the music career doesn't pan out maybe..." I started but she crossed over and hugged me tightly.
"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." She said over and over.
"Hey this if for us. All three of us." I said kissing the top of her head.
"I love the bed too." She said looking up at me.
"Yea my mom told me I should do it. It's called like a Nanny Bed or something like that. But it's so if the baby gets up you can sleep in here."
"Your mom is a genius." Cali laughed.
"She knows a thing or two about babies."
Cali wasn't supposed to be going out and about. But she hated being cooped up in the house. And I wasn't one to tell her no. Not that I didn't want to I just knew she would do it anyways. So when she said she wanted to go shopping I agreed to go. Niall was going to tag along. I didn't want to pry into his current situation with Lucy. I knew we would be able to tell without asking. Niall was never very good at masking his feelings.
"We need to find feeding pillows." She said from the passenger seat as I drove the three of us to some boutique she had been talking about. Niall was quiet which wasn't super abnormal but I knew he was thinking about something. He had his forehead scrunched up like he does when he is thinking.
Lucky for us the boutique didn't have hardly anyone in it. We were free to roam like we pleased as opposed to having to hurry. Cali was quite happy about that and if she is happy I'm happy.
We walked through the store looking at random items. This trip was obviously more for her than for me but I couldn't have cared less. She was glowing, she was happy and she was all mine. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. She went on and on about this pillow. It was absolutely ridiculous. Pregnant brain babble. And yet it was the cutest damn thing I had ever seen.
"Um here is that blanket you were talking about in the car ride over,"Niall said holding up a blanket that I am pretty sure she had looked at before.
"Oh awesome thanks Ni!" Cali said."I read up about this blanket like fifty times and its guaranteed warmth." I held in a small laugh at the ridiculousness of what she had said. Niall couldn't.
"Aren't all blankets guaranteed warmth?" He said laughing at her.
"Well Cali has been researching everything and there's something about the thread count or whatever that is better for the baby. And it won't irritate their skin too," I smiled. The fact of the matter was if my child wasn't the warmest softest, least gassiest child ever born in the UK I would be surprised. Between Cali's crazy reading up on thread counts and what angles to hold a child to avoid gas and my insistence of already having almost a year's worth of baby powder at home you would think we were going to have some sort of holy child. We were so cautious and in need of knowing everything so that we were perfect first time parents, I'm pretty sure that by the time our baby was here we were going to have to see some sort of psychologist for all our anxieties.
"Wow, fancy ass blanket," Niall quipped and I almost laughed again.
"What's an ass blanket?" Cali laughed.
"Shut up. What were you looking at over there?" Niall asked nodding behind us.
"Oh it's some pillow thing for feeding. I'm going to go ask about it actually," Cali said turning to look for a store clerk.
"Wait," I said grabbing her quickly to give her a quick kiss "now go."
I turned and watched her waddle away. I think it's one of the things I will miss most about her being pregnant. My little duck.
"Dude if you could refrain from kissing my sister in front of me that would be great. Still not used to that." Niall said snapping me out of staring at her.
"Oh shut up we are just in love, like you didn't know that," I said with a nudge.
I watched as Cali turned and gave me a wink. She was too damn cute.
"You know how it feels, you're in deep too," I said looking over at Niall.
"Yeah... I don't know," He sighed. Suddenly things were serious. He looked sad.
"What do you mean? Are things not going well with Lucy?" I asked and before he could say anything Cali was walking up.
"Things aren't going well with Lucy?" She asked looking concerned.
"No no they are, there's just. Well there's something that's going on that I'm not sure about; and I'm pretty sure I found out what that was today," Niall said looking at us. I was sort of confused but Cali being her intuitive self picked right up on what was going on.
"Like she was keeping a secret from you?" She asked.
"Not much of a secret per say, more like something I never asked about and just assumed and when I finally asked I didn't like her answer." Niall answered.
"What didn't you like about her answer?" Cali pressed.
"It just wasn't what I expected."
"Does that change the way you feel about her?" Cali asked looking concerned. She and Lucy weren't 100% yet but she still cared even if she wouldn't totally admit it.
"No of course not. It just makes me question our future because it's obvious that we want different things." Niall said looking down at his shuffling feet.
"Do you think that it's something you can move past?" Cali asked tilting her head to the side.
"I... I don't know. I think it's something her and I need to talk about more."
"I say you talk about it, but consider what she's gotten over for you, you know?" I said not really thinking. It was more like word vomit. But the words rang true.
"What do you mean?" Niall asked.
"Well I don't know about you, but, I know that when Cali told me about the baby I freaked out - you know you were there. And I didn't want it now because I thought that it was something I was going to wait for. Something that we would have done in the future when it was more convenient. But I look at Cali and I realize that she gave up everything for me. Why couldn't I get on board with this and in my case it was stupid because it was something we both wanted, it just came as a surprise." I smiled with my arm around Cali.
"I gave up on my job and school after the accident, and with Harry's career it only made sense that we shouldn't have a baby now, but I couldn't not do it. And with all things considered, Harry is putting his life on hold for this but... it's what you do when you're in love. You consider the other person as well as yourself and make compromises." She added.
Niall nodded.
"It just feels like something is missing. She always looks at me like there's something I'm missing or something that she wants and I just don't know what it is."
"Do you ever think maybe she wants to get married?" I said with a shrug. It seemed only natural to me. I mean her best friend was married with a baby. They had been together for a while. They lived together like they were married the only thing missing was the title.
"Married?" Niall asked but more in general not really to anyone.
"She loves you Niall, of course she'd want to marry you. Maybe that is what she's been waiting for like... it's what your missing but you can't see it and she doesn't want to force you." Cali said as she hugged him.
"But she hasn't said anything to me, how would I have missed it if she never mentioned anything?" Niall asked looking even more confused.
"Maybe she doesn't really know how to say it. She probably wants it but doesn't know how to tell you." Cali said looking at me.
"So you're saying I should propose?" Niall asked.
"No," I spat out quickly, "I'm saying you should think about it and maybe talk to her about it and see if that's what she wants."
"Or you could propose," Cali said a little too excited. I didn't want him to jump in to quick. We were looking at this from and outward perspective. We hadn't seen any of these fights, or how she had been lately. I didn't want to be the cause for more issues. And jumping in to quickly is a mistake.
"Calista," I laughed, "don't tell him that because he really will propose."
"You guys are right," He said with a big grin.
Oh no," Cali grinned, "what are you doing?"
"I'll see you guys later," He said quickly turning on his heels
"Niall wait," I said quickly realizing what was happening, "are you sure?"
"Yes!" He said still grinning widely, "I'm going to propose to Lucy!"
And then he was gone. I looked over at Cali and she was smiling almost identically to him. I took a deep breath.
"What?" She asked looking at me.
"Nothing." I said not wanting to dampen things.
"Say it Styles." She said hitting me with a blanket.
"I just....I'm hungry." I said smiling at her.
I wasn't really hungry. I was just worried. Niall like Cali had a tendency to act before thinking. I just hoped for my friend's sake that it would work out.
While I would miss my little duck waddling around I definitely wouldn't miss those awkward moments.
We sat on the long couch facing each other. She had a bowl of popcorn balanced on her stomach and she was throwing kernels at me as I tried to catch them in my mouth. We had a movie going but our little game became way more entertaining than the film.
"Wider!" She said holding up a piece.
"Ahhhh?" I asked with my moan.
"Okay ready...1...2....3!" She said tossing it high. The kernel flew through the air and landed on my forehead.
"Damn it." She said shaking her fist in the air. Her wiggling made the bowl jiggle and she jerked quickly to catch it.
"Easy." I said with a laugh.
"Mmm." She said grabbing at her stomach.
"What?" I asked.
"Gas....Or child on the rib cage." She said resituating herself.
"Sexy babe." I said with a laugh.
"Hey you did this." She said pointing at her stomach.
"Speaking of doing things...." I said sitting up. "Have you heard from Niall?"
"NO that asshole is MIA." She said sitting up and grabbing the bowl.
"Language." I said quickly.
She rolled her eyes.
"Hopefully that's a good thing." I said.
"Of course it is." Cali said eating some popcorn. "Its Lucy and Niall."
"Yea but Cali they have been fighting a lot."
"Harry stop."
"No I know it's just....I am worried."
"No Harry seriously stop." She said looking at the TV.
"Yea maybe you are right." I said turning to face the TV.
"Oh?" She said softly.
"What?" I said looking at her.
"Oh...ouch." She said.
"What?" I asked scrunching my face.
"Ouch!" She said louder standing up. And then with that her pants were....wet. Water. Her water had broken!
