💕💕 @taylorswift Thank you for making this masterpiece of an album. Thank you for opening yourself up to us with really personal songs and different sounds, new ideas.
This album means a lot to me. Each of your albums and eras have been so concrete and constant in my life that I often look back and reference my life in Taylor Swift eras.
Fearless- I was tiny and curious and full of energy and would listen on my iPod as I skipped around outside or doing chores.
Speak Now-I was going through middle school friend drama and would escape by spending time alone, being dramatic and listening to the album.
Red- High school drama. Being teased, feeling like an outsider. I escaped once again by listening to this album. My mom surprised me on Christmas with tickets to your concert - I’d be seeing you for the first time. It was my first concert and it made me so happy.
1989- Late high school. Scared of the future, conflicted, not sure of who I was or what I wanted. You followed me on tumblr the morning OOTW was shown on GMA and I cried before school and maybe in the school bathroom before class because I was so happy. I printed off a picture of the email saying you followed me and it was taped in my locker. Kids thought that was cool:)
Reputation- I was at the lowest point I’ve ever been in my life, so when I look back it used to feel like Rep looks. Darker and defensive. Feeling cornered. I was not doing too well and I found solace in this album especially. You understood, you were going through things too. I always thought of it like you were saying “Hey buddy I’m kinda having a rough time too. Let’s ride this one out together, yea?” And I think we both did.
Lover- And now here we are. My current era in my life- bright colors, “Summer of Love” vibes, uplifting and positive. I’m feeling inspired, confident, excited for the future. I’ve rid my life of some negative influences I thought I could never live without, but in the end it’s made me so much stronger. I’m happy. Genuinely. I’ve never felt so confident or joyous or inspired in my life. Right now I feel like this album- it looks and sounds like it. Funny how that always works out.
So thank you Taylor. I’ve had the privilege to grow up alongside you and your music over the years and I’m forever grateful. From the not so good times to the times of elation and joy, you and your music has been a constant throughout it all. Your art has been the soundtrack to my life as well as millions of others. And that’s amazing. I’m doing better than I ever was. Ever. And I hope that you are too. I hope one day I get the privilege of thanking you in person.
