"The Kiss Never Given"
Dante and Beatrice in the canvas by Roberto Ferri In the canvas, the white of Beatrice's purity and the red of Dante's passion merge. Dante puts his uncovered arm around Beatrice's face, her body inspired by contemporary canons, and is about to kiss her. Roberto Ferri, “I realized that I was faced with a challenge and a very high responsibility, also towards my own artistic identity. And then I listened to the emotions of the two protagonists. Of the ardor of desire touched but never satisfied. Of that desire in which the impetus of eros becomes a viaticum of spiritual elevation. From that listening the work slowly took shape. It materialized in a triumph of sensuality suspended between light and shadow where the apparent antagonisms between soul and flesh, candour and eros meet and harmonize in that total satisfaction of desire which is a metaphor for life itself".
