[ID. 10 gifs of elsa from frozen 2 from various moments in “show yourself”. the focus is 4 big gifs of her interacting with the magic crystals. there are three closeups of her singing, one of her bowing to nøkk, one of her parting the curtain of magic and one where she gets her long trains on her dress as her mother’s memory watches. Frozen II (2019) dir. Chris Buck & Jennifer Lee
frozen ii is better than the first, whoops what was that? did i say something? no? who? sorry my voice slipped.
maybe it was because it felt like something new and not overplayed, or even under appreciated - but holy crap when olaf introduces the permeance of time that’s when you know it’s something different. the characters and story feel so much more mature, and that’s beautiful coinciding with the fact that i was 10 years old when the first one came out.
plot wise, it’s a bit of a mess; mostly because they probably had to keep the movie way shorter than they wanted to. but omg have you heard the outtake songs? imagine if they used them - the movie would feel so much more balanced. for example, the outtake “get it right” where christoph is singing about his proposal, where in the end anna proposed to him??? amazing. way better than the stereotypical “male gets down on one knee and girl gets all flustered with her hands and whatever”. elsa and anna still felt like the stars of the show in this movie, when the others like christoph were left on the side lines.
aside from the missed potential for the characters and the plot, WHY ARENT ENOUGH PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT HOW VISUALLY GROUNDBREAKING THIS WAS?????? BITCH TELL ME THE WHOLE THING ISNT JUST A PHOTO. plus the MUSIC. IS. SO COOL. also olaf is actually funny in this one and not ruining every serious situation. i actually didn’t want him to melt this time.
so if you haven’t watched frozen ii, PLEASE give it a go. it’s a fresh new perspective on a world that everyone seems to know so well (after it’s been violently nailed into our heads). it emotionally explores elsa and anna in a much more mature way than the first. god, even if you hate everything about it, just view it as 1h 47mins of eye candy.
Artist spotlight: Elliot the Bird
Elliot decided to take over my procreate drawing and make this beautiful art piece. He was very possessive of his work and tried to bite me every time I tried touching the screen.
I changed the colour for him a few times but he picked out a few of them himself.
disability advocacy went wrong when it became about inspiration porn and “differently abled” and savants. its incredible that that guy with no legs did a triathlon but your sister with no legs will not and she doesnt need prosthetics or five hour training days to deserve respect and compassion and accommodations. its incredible that that autistic guy can look at a city from a helicopter for an hour and then draw the entire detailed skyline from memory when he lands but your autistic friend cannot and they dont need to have a special Autism Power to deserve respect and compassion and accommodations.
activism framed around “we are just as CAPABLE” means that when people genuinely are less capable they are left behind. activism framed around “we are just as WORTHY” is fundamental to radical compassion.
