midvalley hcs part two because his concept and character perfectly scratches a part of my brain
(as I mentioned from my previous hcs, I’ve only watched stampgaze so this is mostly derived from how midvalley is depicted there)
• based on his name, I think he has American ancestry. ”Midvalley” is probably a surname. Maybe he’s half Chinese since he was likely born in Julai.
• If one asks him ”what’s your favorite ___”, he’d answer some avant garde thing most have never heard of. Fave food? Seared roasted toaster with caramelized paella and a braised dragonfruit (I made that up). Fave clothing brand (if they even have one in no mans land??) Aubergine’s fine made tailor that’s only found in a hidden corner in Julai (I also made that up if that wasn’t obvious). These names are so unfunny but I think you get the point
• he’s an extroverted guy who loves the sound and rhythm of crowds and conversation (as long as its not *too* loud that he loses track of what’s going on). He’d strike a conversation with anyone: from cashiers and someone in his audience to someone who happens to walk the same way he’s going.
• midvalley loves to listen to people’s voices. He wonders what range a person might have, what song their voice reminds him of, and the length of the intervals between talking and silence.
• As extroverted as he can be, he keeps very few people around. Long term friendships and commitments are not his forte. This probably stems from his cynicism and overall trust issues. His only truly close friends were his deceased band mates.
• horror is his biggest weakness. Anything that is somewhat uncanny makes his nervous system disheveled. After any encounters with such, he’d like to have someone by his side—anyone, as long as it’s not knives.
• If he would play a sport, I think he’d enjoy tennis. He would love the sound and the rhythm of a tennis game. For winter sports, he would enjoy figure skating. The feeling of sailing through the ice and dancing to a song … ajksksskd he’d love it
• he would be a collector of all sorts, especially cds and vinyls. Even a receipt would be a part of his collection. He had a little nook of his stuff at home, and after he left to join knives, he kept random trinkets inside the inner pockets of his suit.
•midvalley prefers cats over dogs, but not by a stretch. As long as they aren’t insanely messy and wayyy too energetic, then he’d enjoy owning either.
• he sucks at finishing books. He’d read a book he would enjoy, but would forget to pick it back up after a reading session.
• he also sucks at preparing and planning. usually he just wings whatever he has to do that, for example distracting an enemy by pretending to be someone important to said enemy.

Disclaimer: my understanding of his character in trimax and 98’ is scarce, as I have yet to read / watch these versions, and I’ve only seen tidbits of his depiction in those. pls don’t flame me if these are ooc 🥲 (or if he is ooc from trigaze, for that matter). I wrote this at approximately 5 am so this might only make sense to my then jumbled brain. this is just a brain dump that I had to write
• I think he is touch-starved or something within those lines. He can’t have had any healthy human contact after being recruited by knives, and he seems quite alienated from the rest of the ghgs (is that the correct acronym?) he probably copes through long, warm showers (I think there is a paper backing up this correlation). Also, his ability requires nearly zero contact with the enemy, as long as there are no hard surfaces that hinder sound waves from traveling, then he can probably go a long time without physical contact
• after being recruited by knives, his improv skills gradually declined. I’m not only talking about his performance in battle (as this is canon), but also his gigs. When he played for knives, and came to a part where he had to improvise, he would start stressing. Being a pro that he is, he does play a decent tune every time, but eventually his performances would become barely called decent, at least to his seasoned ears. It’d probably be indistinguishable to knives, though.
• he is quite good at math and physics. his circumstances don’t allow him to use his skills often. he’d probably make a great math/physics teacher (i mean, look at how the kids love him. also he could’ve helped me w my calc and physics finals 💔)
• his cooking skills would be amazing!! However, in no man’s land where sources are scarce, he rarely cooks. Not only because of the obvious reason, but also, his cooking smells so good it would attract a random co-worker which would force him to nr 1: have an encounter with a said person which would disturb his temporary moment of peace and nr 2: share food with someone who lacks decent dining skills (look at midvalley. tell me he isn’t picky about that. He’d definitely remember small quirks for each coworker and be thankful he ain’t like that)
•his hearing isn’t the only sensitive sense for him. I think with heightened hearing comes other enhanced senses. he hates specific things, for example, the sensation of clothes soaked, food having a more grainy texture than usual, and so forth. (idk if it makes sense but I’m lowkey projecting). which is why his time under knives sucked to bad; his fear combined with these sensory issues must have taken a great toll on him. Although was already an assassin beforehand and was familiar to these situations, fear only adds to the injury
• however, he is hyposensitive to smell, meaning he probably wouldn’t be able to tell that the kitchen has been set on fire until his lungs would be filled with smoke. He strikes me as a guy who would consequently use a lot of perfume
• he is familiar with many breathing techniques, both those that improve his performance and those that calm his nerves down. Sometimes one can hear him quietly counting up or down while forcibly breathing slower.
• midvalley has always had a habit of both tapping his fingers to a certain beat and humming. He also taps on random surfaces to see what sound they make and try different spots to see any differences. His mother often comments on how he has done these since he was little
• he strikes me as a somehow straightforward person. I dont think he really gets sitcoms and tv dramas with interpersonal relationships that have a bunch of layers that would put an onion to shame. Midvalley would be annoyed by, in his own words (likely), all the convoluted nonsense of such shows. he does, however, enjoy movies/ series that are somewhat avant garde. not those so abstract that it would require a ton of interpretation to even dissect the plot, though.
• honestly, with his looks, there is no way he didn’t have any past lovers. I think a reason a relationship wouldn’t work would be due to him being very prone to stressing out and overthinking. Despite the former hc of him being straightforward, I still think he often doubts, especially in his relationships. The only things he truly don’t doubt about is his sax skills and his love for music. Otherwise anything is up for questioning.
• small details are his forte. He makes sure that every part of his appearance is neat, that his victims are truly gone by inspecting any possible signs of vitality, catches habits of other people, and so forth.
• during extreme pressure, I like to think that his fight or flight reaction is freezing. He is just. Still. Can’t say a word. Probably zones out.
• he probably curled up and hid in a small corner (if there was one) when distressed as a child.
• speaking of which, I think he comes from a (mid)dle class background. His family was probably somewhat big (depending on what you consider as a big family). I’m thinking he grew up with 4-5 siblings, with him being the first born. Hes got that eldest son vibes to me
