“I can still talk to you about other dirty topics, can’t I?” he teases, jogging in close to nudge him goodnaturedly, then moving back into his own space. “Alright, I’m trusting you. It better be pretty damn amazing for me to be out before the sun is even up,” he grumbles softly, feeling his breaths beginning to shorten already. And they aren’t even two miles in.
Running’s never really been his forte, and definitely not long distance, but he has to admit, Keith’s found a really good route to run. It’s not too difficult, but it’s definitely challenging, and when Keith picks up speed, that last half mile, Jay maintains his, too breathless to try for a sprint, and pretty content to watch Keith run ahead of him, anyway. When they get to the top of the hill, finally, he slows and stops to catch his breath, watching the colours change in the sky, then watching Keith as he stared up. “Hey,” he murmurs, taking Keith’s hand. “You’re right. It’s beautiful. Thank you.”
He grins to himself as he pulls a couple of yards ahead of Jay and keeps that distance all the way up the hill, throwing a few glances over his shoulder. If he was alone, he might’ve pushed a little harder just to feel the burn . . . but exercise isn’t the goal in mind this morning. His goals this morning were more Jay-related.
His gaze is already fixed on the skyline by the time Jay catches up to him. When he looks over at him, there are bits of sunlight caught in his hair and the golds and reds reflect against his glistening skin. Jay’s never looked more beautiful but Keith keeps that thought to himself.
He just smiles and takes Jay’s hand and moves in so he can lean against the safe pillar that was Jay’s body. “You’re welcome,” is all he says as he looks back to the rising sun. “If you kiss me now, I might just waive off the dishes and laundry, though,” he adds, sneaking an almost shy glance at Jay.
