jules reached forward to give tati’s hand a light squeeze. other than jared, tati was jules’ oldest friend and she didn’t need to explain how much her mother could bug her. tati understood, since she was in the same boat most of the time. it was one of the reasons they initially connected. honestly, the two girls were practically sisters at this point. they’d expanded their friend group through the years but it always started and ended with tati and jules. “you might flirt with them but is it really going to get anywhere other than harmless flirting?” jules raised her eyebrows in tati’s direction with a knowing smile. “or would you still be waiting for a certain baseball player?”

 ever  since  the  break  up  tati's  heart  ached  for  jace,  he  didn't  end  things  because  the  love  wasn't  there  anymore,  she  knew  that.  that's  whats  made  the  last  close  to  a  year  so  hard.  but  she  realized  by  reaching  out  to  him  it  could  get  him  in  trouble  with  his  dad  who  never  approved  of  her,  maybe  it  was  because  she  was  the  polar  opposite  of  his  son,  he  was  quiet,  she  was  loud,  he  followed  the  rules,  she  made  her  own  and  hardly  ever  followed  authority.  the  biggest  difference  was  however,  tati  was  the  daughter  of  a  man  who  built  his  own  empire  from  the  ground  up,  she  was  wealthy  while  jace  was  not  poor  but  not  as  well  off  as  her  by  a  long  shot.  to  say  she  was  shocked  to  open  the  door  to  him  would  be  an  understatement.  "what  are  you  doing  here?"  she  asked  quietly  stepping  outside  but  keeping  her  hand  on  the  door  handle.  she  didn't  trust  herself  around  him and knew with just one look at him she’d jump into his arms.  her  heart  ached  as  she  listened  to  him  get  all  nervous  and  she  just  wanted  to  touch him, reassure him it wasn’t stupid that he was here.  but  she  couldn't.  "no  it's-  it's  okay."  her  eyes  found  his.  big  mistake.  "do  you  wanna  come  in?"  she  asked.
