Tumblr’s Drag Race All Stars 2 Finale - Part Three - Personal Style
For this part of our All Star Ball, the queens show us their best personal drag and give us a lipsync performance to a mix of their choice!
Antonina Nutshell
Liz- Girl, like I’ve always said, I always enjoy your lipsync performances. You use all the space you are given and you tell a story. I want to know where the hell you broke in to film these scenes! The mix was great and the outfit works well. Your makeup isn’t the quite the best in comparison to some of your recent looks, but it’s still good! I love the outfit, and the torn up tights, it all fits very well with the your character. I am very proud of your time in all stars and I hope you are too because you have grown immensely!
Ava- I love this look on you! Especially the red hair, this look really sells a Bonnie & Clyde feel. Your mix was really great and sold the whole story you were going for. What I liked a lot was how well your camerman responded to your movements and actiosn (like getting shot). It made it feel like I was watching a serious music video. I like how your songs and spoken word sections moved into one another. It was a well mixed mix. As always, you utilize every inch of space you have and I think it helped tell your story and sell your lipsync even more. Really, this was great and enjoyable to watch. Great work!
Lila- BANG BANG, ANNIE OAKLEY (or should I say, Lasse-Maja!) I am getting Cyndi Lauper meets Bonnie and Clyde in Sweden from this. I am in love with this concept. It’s very Antonina, there’s kind of a inch of thought in everything - the ripping of the tights makes it look like you tried to kick the shit out of the officers arresting you or something. Your mix was fun, I got that you were telling a story of flirting, escaping and leaving the jail scott free, I just wish your clipping and cutting was a bit more fluid, since we went from sultry sexy songs to Primadonna within an instant really. I enjoyed this performance and look, great final submission, Antonina.
Garde Galaxia
Liz- When I first saw this, I was like this is very space like, but then I was like I think I have seen this before, and I can see the Midna inspiration. Twilight princess is probably the only Zelda game I have played, and Midna was one of my favorite characters from it so I love your homage to her. The outfit is absolutely stunning, and I love the attention to detail. Had you not had the hood, I think it would have been amazing to have a headpiece similar to hers, but again that’s minor. As for your mix, it was wonderful, I love that you gave us movement throughout and I feared for your life because I thought you were gonna fall but thank goodness you didn’t! It was a pleasure seeing your growth in the competition since the beginning of cycle 3, I’m so proud of you!
Ava- Holy moly. The crafstmanship on the outfit you made and the painting on the cloak is out of the park. You look astonishing, and I can see all the details that went into creating this look. I really enjoyed your mix a lot, and I think you sold your performance SO well. I felt all the emotion you were giving in the vocals, and I really love that you utilized all of that space you had. This was a really wonderful performance, and I could feel what this meant to you. It was a pleasure to watch, and you knocked it out of the park for this. I am so impressed.
Lila- YAS Midna, This is gorgeous. Very Garde to the end, and it’s where you began (if I recall with your audition) I’m pleased that we’ve got to see you triumph as (what some may argue as) an old school queen in TDR, and really present yourself as a front runner each week. Your makeup skills have really came out in this look, and I’m just amazed by this look. I enjoyed your mix, it was fun to watch and you hit each word on the head. You were quite flaily and up on the pole, back down, on the bin, holding onto a pole, on the ground, but honestly, I didn’t mind it that much. Great final submission, Garde.
Lynnae O’Connor
Liz- MAMI, this mug is beat! I’m so glad that you have finally found yourself and that you have come so far since your start even before TDR. The outfit is giving us glamour but still a hint of Lynnae in there. The only small thing I would have changed would be to have had a gold pump, since you are wearing mostly black, a hint of gold would have been spectacular. As for your performance, again great, you are a lipsync diva and know how to move and show emotion. I also love that you aren’t just in a cramped up bedroom but you’re in this beautiful room which also sets the mood. I’m really proud of the growth you’ve shown and I am glad you are here in the top 4. Congrats!
Ava- You look gorgeous! I love this makeup and the outfit. You look like a femme fatale. For your lipsync, I really loved seeing you perform this song. I could see you feeling every word in the song. You utilized all your space that you had. I’m very proud of your work with this. Great job mama!
Lila- I am stunned. Truly, this is probably the best you have looked in this cycle. The colour story works and it’s exciting to see you rock a gown for once. I do wish the hair was a little bit bigger or even a lace front, just because the black hair your wearing is a little flat. I’ve seen a lot of I’m Every Woman lipsynchs done (cycle 8 had like 8 of them, I think) so you took a real risk with this being a song shown before. I think it was a fun mix, but it didn’t seem like you were there to connect the performance with the mix. It was a slow start, but you managed to push through to the end. Life imitates Art? Anyways, I feel like you’ve finished this cycle on a high note, Good job on this final submission, Lynnae.
Mia E Z’Lay
Liz- I really enjoyed this look, you are giving us very pinup but still a bit campy with your look and it’s very you because I know how much you enjoy to have fun with some of your looks and performances. I love that you had an outfit hidden underneath. Your mug looks great, the body is great, and your performance was really good as well! You’re not afraid to express yourself and I also enjoyed that you don’t hold back by even doing a performance with male vocals. I’m really proud of you and I’m glad that with you moving around and everything that has happened with drama you were able to keep on with yourself and have fun. Great job!
Ava- You look so cute! It was so nice to see you in your element. I could see how much you really feel at home on the stage in front of an audience. You had me laughing watching you. It was campy and fun. I really enjoyed the mix you performed. You sold a really cute concept and was a full story from start to finish. Just like your country mix, this showed a side of you that I feel a lot of people on TDR don’t expect. You did a really great job on this, you campy queen you!!!
Lila- I’m in love with this as your finale look. I’ll be truthful, it wasn’t what I expected, but this is very Mia in silhouette and execution. You look so beautiful and the look ties together really well. The mix was really fun to watch, again, risky business using Vacation (that song gives me nightmares ELIMINATED) but it worked well. It was fluid mixing too! I only wished that your footage wasn’t blurry, because it was a struggle to see you sync to the words sometimes. All in all, good final submission, Mia!
