So after watching the new Frankenstein movie I decided to re-read the book after about two years of not having touched it. My friend and I were talking about it and all the ways the story of victor and the creature can be interpreted so here's my take.

I feel like the concept is very reminiscent of teen pregnancy/motherhood. Hear me out. Victor by the time he would have made the creature he would be about 19-20 years old, so pretty young to be able to care for a child.

He was very excited and obviously passionate about his creation until it actually happened. When he saw the creature he ran away in fear, rejecting him. He tried to "erase" the creature's existance by pretending everything is normal and marrying Elizabeth without telling her what had happened, until the creature shows up and kills her.

I know this sounds weird but it sort of feels like a teen parent being exited about a baby before it comes but the moment it is born the parent feels the responsibility of it weighing them down and leaving out of fear. Then they try to get themselves in a respectable relationship (victor's marriage to Elizabeth) but then the kid shows up after years and kills the relationship both literally and metaphorically

Idk if that makes any sense. It's just a thought that crosses my mind. I might make a follow up post if I think of any other way to explain it.
