Hello, Everyone!☺️

First of all, I'm teacher Mariz Zapata but you can call me Teacher Maris. I'm currently taking up BsEduc - English at the University of the East - Manila. Before I begin to share the story of my life. Do you believe in the sayings "Life Doesn’t Always Go According To Plan (And Maybe That’s The Beautiful Part)?" I know that most of us have planned already what we wanted in the future probably because we want to organize everything as much as possible as we grow older, we don't want to be left behind among our other colleagues' success, and most of the time we're trying to be productive and goal-driven at all times. Well, all these common reasons are valid.

As I grew up, I always loved to travel together with my grandma. Every time we're on vacation we used to visit our relatives either in Isabela, Baguio, or Ilocos then, we go to beautiful places located in the particular area like heritage, museums, and famous foods in the local town. I remember when my sister and I went to El Nido, Palawan. The native people are very hospitable and approachable to us in which I like the most. During my previous travels, I have realized that my heart belongs to traveling beautiful places, and love to engage with other people. This is the reason why I wanted to become a flight attendant.

However, when I entered college my pathway was changed in just a snap. I could say that teaching is very far from what my heart wants but I think this is my calling and God's plan to help those children who are in need when in terms of education. Moreover, as a teacher in making it is my privilege to have this kind of opportunity to share and impart my knowledge to the children. Furthermore, always bear in mind, there are a lot of opportunities that await in us just take it slow and don't be afraid to change your plan and cross the other line because the other line will help you to grow and go out of your comfort zone. Give all your trust and plans to God then, he will guide you as you traverse your journey in life.

My advocacy and passion for teaching drive me to strive further as a future educator.

Journalist's Code of Ethics - My Mini Version

1. I shall scrupulously report and interpret the news, taking care not to suppress essential facts nor to distort the truth by omission or improper emphasis. I recognize the duty to air the other side and the duty to correct substantive errors promptly.

Explanation: As a journalist, it is important to seek the truth rather than anumalies, fraud, and disintegretirity of disseminating information around the community. Nonetheless, we need to uphold the truth, justice and wisdom for the sake of everyone.

2. I shall not violate confidential information on material given me in the exercise of my calling.

Explanation: As a journalist, it is our duty to protect one's identity and to taking care the integrity and principles of being a journalist.

3. I shall resort only to fair and honest methods in my effort to obtain news, photographs and/or documents, and shall properly identify myself as a representative of the press when obtaining any personal interview intended for publication.

Explanation: As a journalist, we must try to be restain in our emotions. Always bear in mind that we need facts, data, and a concrete information to answer the issues without any biases to the other parties.

4. I shall refrain from writing reports which will adversely affect a private reputation unless the public interests justifies it. At the same time, I shall write vigorously for public access to information, as provided for in the constitution.

Explaination: As a media reporter, it is a must to use tape recorder, voice tape or any gadget devices to avoid one-sided opinion as the writer states his opinion regarding a particular issue conducted.

5. I shall not let personal motives or interests influence me in the performance of my duties; nor shall I accept or offer any present, gift or other consideration of a nature which may cast doubt on my professional integrity.

Explanation: As a reporter, it is important to have a moral, integrity, and dicipline in the field of news industry because we are the one's to guide, to inform, and to deliver the information to our society. Therefore, we should eliminate the practice of bribery towards our profession.

6. I shall not commit any act of plagiarism.

Explanation: Always bear in mind that the rule of thumb of being a journalist is not to steal or claim of one's idea. Moreover, a journlists have an honest statements and opinions as he/she publishing his output.

7. I shall not in any manner ridicule, cast aspersions on or degrade any person by reason of sex, creed, religious belief, political conviction, cultural and ethnic origin.

Explaination: As a journalist, regardless of race, identity, beliefs and values of a person these factors should not m hindrances to seek the truth and to know the fact.

8. I shall presume persons accused of crime of being innocent until proven otherwise. I shall exercise caution in publishing names of minors, and women involved in criminal cases so that they may not unjustly lose their standing in society.

Explanation: As an interviewer, it is essential to protect their personal identity as we gather facts, details, and information from the person involved. Also, to abide the rules by the law called Data Privacy Act of 2012 and for the safety of the person as well.

9. I shall not take unfair advantage of a fellow journalist.

Explanation: To maintain our professionalism inside and outside the workplace. Also, we should set aside our differences, beliefs, and values to maintain a healthy environment.

10. I shall accept only such tasks as are compatible with the integrity and dignity of my profession, invoking the “conscience clause” when duties imposed on me conflict with the voice of my conscience.

Explanation: As a journalist, it is my responsibility to have a fair judgement into a particular issue or topic that I am writing. In order to achieve an honest results and to have a transparency between my personal and professional life.

11. I shall comport myself in public or while performing my duties as journalist in such manner as to maintain the dignity of my profession. When in doubt, decency should be my watchword.

Explanation: Being a journalist, we need to have a standard principles in doing our duties to maintain a good reputation and to maintain harmony within ourselves.

These are my realizations in making my authentic task:

First, always bear in mind the word SMART in making your performance task because we cannot achieve the learning outcome and goals of our lesson if we don't consider this acronym.

Second, we need to think and provide a valid, reliable, and dependable activity for the learners where they can be able to apply their learning throughout the lesson.

Third, keep in mind that the provided activity is easily accessed by the learners and/or available to their surroundings.

Next, make sure there is an application in giving a task to the learners where they can utilize their skills, knowledge, and critical thinking.

Lastly, the activity provided by the teacher can be able to perform by the learners in a real-world situation.

On the other hand, these are my insights in preparing and planning my authentic task:

First, I consider my specialization to choose a subject that I will be using in planning and preparing authentic tasks.

Second, I chose grade seventh level since there are number of competencies that cover for the students to perform in a real-life situation.

Lastly, I apply the learnings I have gotten from our course Assessment in Learning 2 such as the steps and procedure in making a scoring rubric and tips for effectiveness and efficiency in making a successful rubric.

Overall, as future educators, we need to be cautious, creative, and innovative in providing activities, tasks, and outputs to our learners because there are lots of factors that may need to consider just to achieve the learning outcome and goals of the learners.

I've learned the principles in education technology, which is the relevance and appropriateness of an instructional material that suited for a particular lesson and to the target learners. Also, the various instructional materials that can be able to use inside a classroom weather in a face to face class or in a virtual class. Apart from it, these are the following instructional materials that we could be able to utilize in our teaching: •Open-ended tools known as productivity tools that you can able to create, modify and editing a presentation.  (e.g., Ms Word, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, etc.,) •Human and Non-human Learning Resources in which a resource that can be able to help and achieved easily the learning outcomes and goals of a teacher in teaching. •Digital and Non-Digital Learning Resources refers as one of an instructional materials utilized by the teacher in teaching a particular lesson. This could help to put the learners into a comprehensive learning outcome. •For the last bullet, presentation skills as a future educator it is a must that we need to know and learn basic hand gestures and appropriate body posture because were the ones who imitate by our learners. So we should be more cautious in showing body movement to our future learners. Moreover, these learnings are important factors that I should incorporate to myself as I traverse my journey in the field of teaching. Furthermore, education technology has a huge impact to the skills and life of a teacher because it give them a privilege to discover more about technology, apply and impart their knowledge using technology, and to become more innovative and creative in teaching their students.

Reflection_01 in Technology for Teaching and Learning 2

In summary of a whole topic, I have learned  the characteristics of 21st century learners and how technology has continuously evolving in the field of teaching. Apart from it, having a background knowledge of the parts of a curriculum guide is a useful thing because it serves as our guidelines in making our unit plan. Also, I have learned about how to integrate technology in the field of teaching and the strategies on how to teach effectively using learning materials that gotten from the internet. Moreover, the most important factors that I have learned in this topic are: theories, learning approaches, and blooms taxonomy because it gives me a huge insight and strong foundation in the field of education. Overall, as a future educator it is essential that we are knowledgeable enough so that we can teach effectively and deliver successfully our lessons to our future learners because we're the one's to cater them, to nurture their skills and ability in performing a particular task, to develop their personality, and to achieve their goals in life.

Time management skills.

After taking the test, reflect on the following:

• What do the results of the tests say about you as a learner?

• What aspects of studying and learning do you find yourself lacking?

• How can you further enhance your skills in studying and learning? What changes are you will to do to make this possible?

As a learner, the test result score that I have gotten is 51 points in which I’m consider as a Good Time Manager. It basically talks about that I can be able to organize my schedule successfully, to be able to meet the deadlines of my tasks, and enable to cope up to the submissions of works. Also, it shows in trying to extend an effort to accomplished the projects, homework, tasks that are assigned as early as possible.

Apart from it, I need to put some strategies in able to improve my time management skills such as:

• Improving my techniques in note taking

• Immediately ask for some clarifications to professor, classmates, or friends if its needed.

• Balancing the amount of time given in a specific requirements/tasks.

• Using my reminders frequently to be remind on the next tasks that needs to be done.

• Putting an advance schedule to have a plenty of time to work for it and to avoid workloads.

In able to further enhance my skills in study and learning I should be able to apply the following strategies that I have mentioned to have a successfully education. Also, to have an ample time to discover my other skills that could be benefited towards to my future profession. More so, trying to avoid being procrastination at all times to ensure the quality time you have in daily.

Lastly, the changes that I’m willing to sacrifice is the unhealthy lifestyle that I have such as:

• Waking up late in the afternoon.

• Using my phone / gadgets from time to time.

• Lack of controlling myself in doing unimportant things.

• Spending too much on social media.

• Unnecessarily interaction to other people.

• Being procrastination specially if the tasks has given enough time for the submission.

In your opinion, what are the roles of a technology in times like a pandemic?

In this tough situation times technology brought a massive change through globally, economically, and to the daily lives of the people in the community. By the definition, technology refers to gather the data, information, and scientific research that the user will be use as the sum of techniques, skills, methods and processes in the production of goods or services or accomplishment of objectives such as: scientific, investigation, analysis, and interpretation.

These are the following roles of technology in the midst of pandemic:

• Dissemination of information’s are easily accessed by the person in just one click.

• It can lessen the tasks that you are working.

• Your health and welfare are secured in respective houses.

• It gives a practical knowledge to the people.

• It implicates the distance learning in which students, professionals, and peers can maximize their time in their self-paced of learning.

• It gives online entertainment of live shows and concerts that have gained attraction across the world.

• The adoption of technology in the field of stock market can easily increase the sales.

• Through technology our healthy lifestyle could be easier to maintain simultaneously through using health and fitness applications.

• Through technology it helps the business to grow, expand, and for the continuity for various companies. (E.g Virtual meeting, Cloud conferencing, Internet, data privacy security.)

Furthermore, in this midst of pandemic situation technology have been proved that innovations are helping in managing the pandemic in a timely, systematic, and calm manner. In conclusion, the realizations that I have learnt from this pandemic is to become vigilant and to stay prepared well in advance against in any crisis at both individual and collective level. All we need to do is to fight this epidemic COVID – 19. Truly, the advancement of the technology is a sign for steadily progressing; that grows uncontrollable. So, we humans who is continuously adapting the changes in technology. Let’s be a responsible user and at the same time continue to invest in building the technology system for the better and preparedness.

Online learning and your role as a student of UE Manila, College of Education

Having an online learning set up is a huge impact to our society specially in this pandemic situation. It gives everyone a flexible task. We can manage our time and using it productively in such: being able to accomplish all the requirements, workloads, and tasks in our respective houses. Hassle-free to travel going to school, office, and to the place that we are working. To secure the health of an individual. Spend more time to our loved ones. To enhance further our skills and to discover new hobbies that will help for the betterment of ourselves.

Furthermore, online learning helps me to focus on the things that I never been experience before. This set-up of online learning gives me lots of insights, lessons, and learnings through psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually that develops my inner and outer personality. This method of learning proves that we, human being is not stagnant and we are continuously evolving every day that we can able to transfer all our tasks and workloads using technology.

Moreover, as a student of UE Manila, College of Education. It is our responsibility to use the technology in a good way such as following some rules and policy. Having a strong principles and integrity in learning. Also, these are the following roles that must a warrior need to be considered as a diligent and responsible learner:

• Helping to stop spreading false information through different platforms of social media.

• Knowing the rights and stands of being a student inside and outside the campus.

• Give credits or using a proper citation to the right owner of information.

• Set boundaries and limitations in using technology.

• Being responsible and cautious to your own words since we are in world of technology.

Overall, we must keep in mind that all the things that we are doing may affects to you as a person and to your environment. Having enough knowledge in using technology can lead for the improvement of the society.

Proposal...

When I was a senior high school, my professor in entrepreneurship was tasked us to group ourselves into 3 and came up a business proposal as our final requirement. During the process of planning it was crucial because we need to undergo for a comprehensive research and to further elicit all the possible factors that can be done into our proposal. Most importantly, as a group we need to consider factors in preparing and planning for a business proposal such as:

1. Target Customers - grades level and ages.

2. Type Location - food cart, commercial building, rental space, or house.

3. Recipe and Menus - meal, snacks, or desserts.

4. Starting Capital - how much all the expenses to establish a business. We must have the spread sheet, microsoft excel, and inventory of all the necessary tools, equipments, utensils, products, and bills for the place.

5. Net income and profit - how much the profit of this business. It is a must to monitor and to show the percentage of the income to avoid the bankruptcy, using pie graph or table will help determine the quarterly and annual income of the business.

7. Mission and Vision - it is important to have these principles in order to be guided in the future and to describe what the company needs to do now to achieve the vision.

Overall, planning and preparing a proposal was not an easy one because those factors are some parts of creating business proposal. In order, to have a successful proposal it is important to have a specific and detailed information about the topic. Also, to know the purpose, authenticity, demographic data, and clear idea of the content.

"It's not about the role, it's about the goal"

The following statement is all about my Personal Philosophy in Education. My views and beliefs on education and teaching as I go through in this journey. First of all, education is one of the utmost important aspects of growth and development, providing children with the fundamental tools necessary to move forward in society as confident and knowledgeable citizens. Education is the means by which we ensure that our society continues to successfully evolve. It is necessary for educators to develop new and innovative ways to give a helping hand for the children to become successful in the future.

In this quote by Lao Tzu "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" this quotation marks one of my perceptions as a future teacher because I strongly believe that teaching is the most powerful tool of a high standard and quality teacher. It must be something to be harnessed in able to give and to share what you have to your future learners.

Furthermore, having a strong foundation in teaching and enough knowledge in classroom management, a teacher will surely know what is best for the learners. Also, knowing more your students could be an edge for a teacher to further develop the learners’ skills and ability to perform tasks in a particular area.

Apart from it, a teacher with high expectations can lift up the good quality of learner's education. Also, two of my English professors taught me the finer points of creating meaningful, relevant, and effective lessons. It was under their guidance that I learned how to remain flexible, open to change, and communicate successfully with the learners. These two professors provided a solid support system and encouragement as well as honest, and helpful feedback so that I could learn and grow as I traverse in the field of teaching. As a future educator, I aspire to be a model values and professionalism in the classroom.

In conclusion, my main goal as a future educator is: to provide learners with high-quality instruction that meets their needs, understanding, and enjoyment on my teaching, to create an inspiring and equitable learning environment in which learners feel safe and secure, to have a legacy that my future learners will remember that I am sincere with a genuine passion for my craft, to be someone who is always ready to serve and to love her students.

These are the articles and sections that I have chosen in the code of ethics for professional teachers. First, Article IV – Section 1 is one of the most pivotal factors that a teacher must have. Because a teacher cannot just teach for the learners, a teacher must also boost the learner’s confidence to achieve their goal/s in life. And also, teaching is a profession with a courage, passion, and determination to change one’s life for a better future. Second to the most important is Article III – Section 2 a teacher must require to actively participate in community movements because a teacher is the one who caters and build the progress of an individual and many people within the community. Lastly, Article II – Section 3 it is essential that a teacher must be physically, mentally, and morally fit because, teacher is the primary source of information for every learner that needs to be nurtured. And also, a teacher is the one who provides the educational needs of the learners.
