Reflection Two
I am really excited about the technology that is available to us in this day and age. To think that when I first saw a computer in school, floppy discs were still floppy. Now there is so much available at our fingertips, it seems ridiculous not to bring this into the classroom.
Today I looked at a new software to create an e portfolio, and was really impressed. (Sad I know as I should really get with the times) Anyway, it was such a useful way to store, organize and present information. I also love that it is a free tool that you can bring into your classroom and access anywhere.I can't wait to get started!
Learning to teach a second time really does have its pluses.

Reflection
At first the idea of retraining seemed pointless to me, and if I am honest I didn't really think that it would be very beneficial. But now that I reflect I can see that I now have the head space to really understand the pedagogical theory, and really apply it to my practice. I know that sounds a bit "OTT" and "wordy" , but it's true!
Believe it or not, it is only now that I am realizing and utilizing, the link between the theory and advice that I read, and my students/ practice. It is quite amazing the effect that this experience is having on me. Whilst this first seemed like an obstacle it is now more of a stepping stone.
The Teacher's Role
First and foremost, teaching is about caring for childrenāevery last one of them in your classes. Itās about passion for studentsā learning, for making the classroom a kind of magical kingdom for them even when you and they are tired, and for working at the edges of your own virtuosity with large groups of restless minds who all learn differently and who are constantly pressing for your attention.
My Impact as a Teacher
I have come to a frightening conclusion. I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher I possess tremendous power to make a childās life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humour, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a child humanized or dehumanized.
