SHE'S WEARING A SUIT YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO MY LITTLE GAY HEART
AFGGHGFJGHDONFUGHBD IT HAPPENED
I refuse to believe that Marc "I love my wife so much that I am willing to put up with Khonshu's bullshit" Spector was the person who set up that date.
IT HAS TO BE JAKE.
MOON KNIGHT ep 3 as textposts pt 1 (pt 2)
hey, so you know, you're bordering the edge of a long and complicated community discourse with those anons making claims about whether or not you can be a system without trauma. it's a discussion that's neither relevant to your blog (or the movie) nor easy to explain without a significant degree of research & understanding about DID. i'd be careful about posting anything else related to that vein of discourse & putting it in tags systems use. -a dissociative system who found you via tags
this is really true, and thank you for this. I've been trying to answer every new ask and get every opinion out there, but this isn't about opinions and it isn't about me. for y'all that are learning, including myself, listen to systems! They know best!
"BUt yelEnA Is oNLy acE, NoT aRO"
first off, just, just don't. that is wrong. that is incorrect. don't.
secondly, the mcu doesn't show sex or sexual attraction beyond vague references and that awful eternals scene. For all intents and purposes, in the mcu, ace and aro are the same thing. It sucks, i know, but there's not much room for nuance and the intricacies of queer attraction and identity in the mcu.
Oh also DID is the cause of Moon Knights plurality but there are other reasons plurality can develop in people which are unrelated to trauma and can develop past childhood.
To clarify a little; DID can *appear* at any time but is her ally considered to be developed as a response to childhood trauma (1-12 as other anon said)
That's very helpful, thank you! /g
People with DID do not have it in childhood automatically. It is developed between the ages of 0-12 as a trauma response. /gen
Ah, thx for letting me know! i've had a couple people tell me this and i didn't know that before! I'm trying my best with what i know, and before now i've heard that it develops in early childhood, but i appreciate y'all letting my know when i'm wrong! Thank you!
Ok but moon knight's DID portrayal doesn't actually seem that bad?
I know it's kind of the bare minimum to portray something without harmful stereotypes but they did it and i'm impressed
also the idea of "one alter is the avatar of a god and another doesn't know what the fuck is going on" is the most hilarious thing istg
I like that it's not DID as a superpower. Steven doesn't have DID that gives him access to an alter with superpowers. Marc is a superhero with DID who has to deal with switching in the middle of combat.
Khonshu: Marc you will be my avatar. You are a mercenary, a warrior. You will be perfect.
Marc: Ok so - are you familiar with the concept of mental illness.
This is such a good point! disability positivity is good, but that doesn't mean it's always a superpower, and it's refreshing to see portrayals where it isn't the source of powers or used exclusively for trauma. In real life, you can imagine how a superhero with DID would have to deal with switching, which makes it feel fairly authentic
Moon Knight's legal name is currently unclear in the show so at least for now they can't do that either. What a pickle!
That is true! if anyone else has other ideas, lmk!
The problem is that with MCU character articles the page names are typically the civilian names, of which Moon Knight has more than one, who are all just as much people as one another. So it is tricky.
Hmm, that is tricky. I could be completely wrong with this, so let me know if so, but maybe it would be best to put the legal name of the system's body if that's revealed in the show? Or maybe they could write it as "Marc Spector (Steven Grant)" or "Marc Spector/Steven Grant"? I don't know, just suggestions 🤷
Though people with DID have it since childhood. It doesn't make sense that Steven is an adult and doesn't know he has an alter.
That is true, although i know there are situations where alters front or don't front or a long period of time, or don't see each other in head space. I could be wrong, but i get the idea that Steven is usually the one fronting and believed his switching to be sleeping issues for a long time
Firstly, it’s only most common in childhood, not a solid 100%. That’s not fact. Secondly, most people with DID go a long time without knowing about their system, it’s very often concealed and hidden.
Thanks for letting me know! I try to do my research, but hearing firsthand from systems is always best!
