09 - Desert
Tried to draw that one sweet intro level from MMZ 2 and it kind of went sideways, but at least the birdman looks alright
08 - Savanna This is kind of annoying to look at, but at least I finished it
07 - Prairie I tried using clouds to create a more interesting composition
06 - Steppe
Feathergrass is oddly fun to draw
05 - Mixed Forest
I'm no good at drawing forests, but at least it's slightly better than my last attempt
That feeling when you add some more contrast to your art and now it looks like a different person made it
04 - Deciduous Forest Goofy ahh color contrast
03 - Taiga (and a spotted nutcracker :>)
Oops. That was my bad.
Background #2: Tundra Tundras are known for attracting plenty of birds during spring and early summer, so that was a low-hanging fruit for me. Now if only I knew how to paint rocks....
After realizing just how bland my backgrounds usually are, I decided to take on a background challenge. The first topic on the list was "polar desert". First thing I thought of was that one level from MMZ 2 (which is basically a moonlit snow-covered roof with some rocks in the distance), so I got curious if I could illustrate a scene happening in such a place. I'd say there was an attempt...
Each and every one of my attempts to draw something digitally may end in a massive disappointment, but at least I always discover a new way of using a marker brush :>
I wanted to draw something easier this time, so I decided to redo a really old drawing of mine (I ended up changing nearly everything and remaking it from scratch, so I decided not to include it in the end). I finally discovered reference layers in clip studio (so much sanity saved) and I also tried a funky square-shaped brush for my lineart. I wish I wasn't so shit at drawing clouds though. WELCOME TO THE TWISTER ZONE.
Hopefully that's one less boring art before I figure out how to git good at drawing.
I wish reblogs could be deleted along with an original image

edit: can you all go and like/repost some actual good art instead of this thank you
