I wasn't a huge fan of this series when I first read it, around the time the movie came out. I think I got through the third book and put it down and never picked it up again. I'm hoping to give it a second chance though, I'm thinking maybe the things that bothered me won't be as bad as I remember? Also I have heard really good things about the spin offs and I want to read those but I really want to make it through the main series first. And I'm finally starting to read a discovery of witches! I'm reading and loving Wintersong, although since it's a physical copy and not an ebook I can only read it while at work on breaks so I'm not super far into it. But I really love the way they bring in music and the goblins and magic. I really can't wait to see how the story continues to unfold. . In other news I'm about 3/4 of the was done with Queen of Shadows and Holy Hell. It's so freaking good! I just can't with my need to read through non stop until I've read the entirety of the series. I'm glad I started reading it now so I only have to wait for the release of the final novel. The rest of the TOG series fans are seriously amazing. Can I say that I ship Manon and Dorian? My final pic for the Labyrinth sequence, at least for now. I was thrilled when I learned Henson's masterpiece had been translated to book form. It's not as long as I thought it would be but I've heard really good things from those who have read the novelization. I have been wanting to do a photo shoot of my Jim Henson merch for a while now, and with the book set from my father for my birthday I figured it was the perfect time for the first one! . I have a Jarath Funko, a candle that unfortunately got cropped out with the filter (I have a pic of the candle though for a future post) the Labyrinth and the dark crystal in novel format and the anniversary edition blue ray of the dark crystal. . Fun fact: the dark crystal, while a beautiful movie, kinda terrifies me on a sould deep level and I've never been able to figure out why. Of course I haven't seen it since I was in elementary school so it may be time for a re-watch. . I haven't posted in two days, my bookshelves are a mess and I haven't been able to sleep much these past two days. So in leiu of sleeping I'm going to organize my bookshelves a bit and then read more of Heir of fire. The TOG series is getting so much more interesting now that the fey have really been introduced. . Still haven't read stalking Jack the ripper yet. It's on my TBR but being a mood reader I just don't know when I'll get around to it 😭 hopefully soon though. . The plan for my bookshelves is to have one be my read shelf and one be my TBR shelf. Hopefully that way I'll clear more of my owned TBR. Then I'm planning on sorting by hardcover/genre/alphabetical by author and paperback/genre/alphabetical by author. As if I didn't have enough series on my plate already, this series has been on my bookshelf for years now. My aunt got it for me while I was still in highschool and I've just never quite gotten around to reading it, however it sounds really good and I really want to give it a chance! I just finished Queen of Midnight today and gave it 4🌟 rating, the first half was so slow I nearly gave up on it, but wow the second half was just amazingly good and I can see why people rave about the series if that moment keeps building. I also finished the second wheel of time novel (the great hunt) and gave it a 3 🌟 rating. The books are just really slow and hard to get into but it's also got some momentum to it now and I'm hoping the Dragon Reborn is a much better read I haven't worked on my own book much recently but I've got the ideas brewing and I've got 2000 ish words written which although not a lot is more than I've ever written before so there is hope. It will definitely need a couple of revisions though. If I didn't have a full time job I'd probably be spending the day writing. Out of all the contemporaries I've read so far this year, Accidentally Perfect by Elizabeth Stevens and Oh my Goth by Gena Showalter are my favorites. Of course I haven't read all that many...
