We had a wonderful time at STEM Day today at the NC General Assembly
Trillian's wheels are a bit more worn out now, but she did a great job driving down the entire route of the Cary Christmas Parade! Zaphod and Benjy stayed on the float as they launched foam and inflatable balls into the air. The parade went well and we had fun being a part of it!
We have now released our Chairman's Award video for the 2014 season. A big thank you to the sponsors, parents, and mentors who have made this outstanding year possible!
It is one day into the 2014 Palmetto Regional and we are already having a ball! We got everything set up, calibrated, and even participated in some practice matches. Hopefully, tomorrow is going to be even more exciting with the beginning the the qualification matches. Read more about what we did today on our blog:http://thehitchhikers.org/2014-palmetto-regional-day-1/
This is it! Starting tomorrow, we will be competing in our first tournament with Zaphod at the 2014 Palmetto Regional in South Carolina.

With build season coming to a close, here is a look at the creation of Zaphod.
Introducing our 2014 Aerial Assist robot, Zaphod!
Zaphod is designed with an accurate shooter, speedy collector, and powerful drivetrain, allowing us to score consistently, pass quickly, and defend effectively. We are looking forward to the next few weeks and cannot wait to get Zaphod out on the competition field.
Despite all the bad weather, we are still making great progress! Here is a look at the chain guards Zaphod will be wearing during our Sunday scrimmage at Athens Drive High School.
Zaphod, our 2014 robot, had its very first demo yesterday at the Apex Elementary School Science Spectacular, showing Aerial Assist to over 400 students!
New video! Here is a look at some of the prototypes we created for this year's shooter.
The robot is moving!
New video! See our first reaction to kickoff and the new challenge, Aerial Assist.
Some parts of build season can be a bit of a grind, but it's all worth it.
The electrical team has been a little busy.
Potential t-shirt design for the hitchhikers this year
Today we begin our journey in 2014 with a new game: Aerial Assist. For this year, we will be working with other teams to carry 24-inch game balls down the field, over a truss, and into a goal. This is a very exciting time for us as we look forward to seeing what we can accomplish over the next few months!
The final edit of our video from THOR is now live! Watch and enjoy.
