New Yorkers have a lot of pride in the city they call home. This pride is often extreme, and it can somewhat explain why they’re so quick to call out a Long Islander or Westchester-er for calling the city their own. Many New Yorkers boast about the well-known, breathtaking skyline, but very few have seen the outstanding interior designs that exist within their very own city. Aside from Grand Central Terminal, both tourists and native New Yorkers alike will be shocked by Fast Company’s “12 Buildings To See In New York Before You Die.” Enjoy from your computer and explore the next time you’re in the city.
4 months, 14,000 miles, and 20,000 still images later, Shane Black has put together one of the coolest time-lapse videos on the Internet. Black traveled through the U.S. and Canada teaching workshops, and along the way he captured some incredible footage. Black hopes to inspire many to take the time to travel around our continent and take a look at our amazing sights.
When it comes to Airbnb sometimes you luck out with a fantastic place to stay in a great area, and other times you don’t. What if you could stay in a luxurious cable car suspended over the skiing resort of Courchevel, surrounded by breathtaking views of the French Alps (who knew that luxurious cable cars existed)? Airbnb kicked off the year offering that exact opportunity to select customers. Potential tenants shared why they’d like to stay there in 100 words and one lucky traveler won the one night stay. Way up. Check out the listing here, to see how one guy spent the night at the highest European point ever listed on Airbnb.
Our team is very excited that today, our managing partner Coltrane Curtis will have his content on the americanexpress Instagram account.
Coltrane was selected by American Express as one of six influential photographers and entrepreneurs to curate the brand's popular Instagram account as part of a social media takeover initiative.
Join us in celebrating the launch by taking a peek at the day-in-the-life content Coltrane created for American Express—inside and outside of Team Epiphany, and as always with his son Ellington at his side.
The #Heineken100 program made its 2014 launch with a collaborative beautifully crafted Parabellum tote. This collaboration is the first of three for this year's program. The tote—the brand's first canvas offering—features a front pocket and handles made from Parabellum's signature bison leather, black ceramic rivets, and a high-tech Trackr chip—which allows the selected members of the #Heineken100 network to track their lost or stolen bag from anywhere via a mobile app.
Complex sat down with the #Heineken100 Creative Director, Chris Gibbs, to discuss this year's brand pairings and how the Parabellum partnership came to life. Learn more HERE.
Introducing Glossier, the skincare line that doubles as makeup. Created as a sister brand to the popular site Into the Gloss, Glossier is a collection that aims to redefine how women view beauty. The introductory line focuses on creating a glowing facial canvas for all women, regardless of ethnic or racial background. It includes four products: Soothing Face Mist, Priming Moisturizer, Balm DotCom, and the Perfecting Skin Tint.
Each item can be worn individually or the whole set can be used together to create a fresh-faced everyday look. This line is the first of many, as Glossier and Into the Gloss creator, Emily Weiss, plans to debut a new collection every few months. The Glossier Phase 1 set retails for $80, or you can buy each face essential separately, with prices ranging from $12 to $26.
For more information, visit Glossier.
Evian and French fashion house, KENZO, have recently unveiled a limited edition 2014 bottle. The design, straight from KENZO’s fall 2014 collection, features an asymmetric lime and blue zigzag pattern. The look is reminiscent of Evian’s fun and youthful brand. Since 2008 Evian has worked with other designers to create signature looks. This collaboration marks another success.
Drinking water has never looked so good. However with a design this striking, you may spend all your time admiring instead of consuming.
Interior decorating can be difficult and a nuisance. You have to go into stores to measure the furniture and décor. With the way of the times, we like our lives and information instantaneous and easily accessible. Why can’t making our homes look gorgeous be the same?
Hem makes high-end design easy. It offers consumers the ability to tailor their products to the size of their house, apartment, studio, or wherever they call home. With refreshing designs and detailed craftsmanship, Hem is where you should shop.
In 2004, the hit sitcom, Friends, came to an end after a momentous run on primetime TV. Central Perk was the hangout spot of choice and home to some of the most memorable moments on the show. In celebration of the twenty-year anniversary of Friends, fans can experience a Central Perk pop-up in Lower Manhattan.
The pop-up is filled with Friends memorabilia, including displays of outfits worn by each of the show’s characters, cast photos, and signed TV scripts. There’s also a limited edition Central Perk brew, courtesy of Eight O’Clock Coffee, that’s available for purchase. James Michael Taylor, better known to Friends’ enthusiasts as Gunther, has even made a few appearances.
The Central Perk pop-up will available until Wednesday, October 18. Catch it at 199 Lafayette Street.
No one likes a lukewarm beer. With Chillsner, your beer temperature can change to cooler than cool.
Chillsner is shaped like an icepick with a bottle cap at the top. The device works best with an already refrigerated or chilled bottle of beer. Stick it in the freezer for forty-five minutes to an hour, remove the cap of your beer, replace it with Chillsner, and your favorite lager (ours is Heineken) will remain chilled while you consume. It’s that simple.
Not much of a beer drinker? For the wine aficionados out there, you can opt for the Corkcicle, a device that’s shaped like—you guessed it—a cork. It works the same as the Chillsner, cooling your favorite red or white from the inside out, but requires a longer period in the freezer.
Harman International and the NBA have linked up for a multi-year deal, bringing two storied brands together for an iconic partnership. The similarities between the two are unmatched: they both value cutting-edge technology and exceptional performance. As the NBA’s official headphone, speaker, and audio sponsor, the deal will allow Harman’s JBL brand to sell team and individual player branded speakers and headphones. The exclusive line may even be in an arena near you, with Harman expected to provide product to each of the NBA’s 30 teams.
Expect to see the iconic merchandise online and in-stores in six months.
Startup on the rise, Packnada, allows business travelers to leave their luggage behind during business trips. The service will go to the hotel, pick up their luggage and amenities, and store them for their next visit.
Worried about laundry? Packnada will also clean clothes in preparation for each guest’s next visit. The easier the better. Forget checking bags or carryon luggage, just bring your ID and plane ticket and you are as good as gone.
Our friends at Freshness Mag stopped by our NYC headquarters to check out the style of our three managing partners: Coltrane Curtis, Lisa Chu, and Sky Gellatly. They explained their style and inspiration while also sharing how they’ve emerged into their roles at Team Epiphany. Their style is top-notch, but their stories are even better.
Find out what they were wearing and more HERE.
New Yorkers who are looking to cool down this week, should check out evian's Twitter account. The water company is premiering #evianBottleServce - a concierge service that delivers a free bottle of ice cold evian to your door (if you're in their service area). #evianBottleService kicks off today with delivery services near Bryant Park. Check out their delivery schedule and tweet #evianBottleService to get in on the fun and hydrate stylishly.
What if you could access all the top-brands that can be found on Spring Street, or better yet all of the top designers you love right on your phone?
Now you can with the launch of Spring, a new app that facilitates e-commerce. A simple Swipe enables you to skip the line, and make purchase without ever leaving your home. The app’s feed resembles that of Instagram, where users can follow brands, like pictures, and swipe to complete a purchase. A like enables users to interact with brands and receive relevant updates such as upcoming sales, or potential product shortages (a marketers dream come true). What really sets Spring apart is how the app integrates with third-party brands' existing e-commerce infrastructure. As a result, the post checkout experience (i.e. receipt, shipping, customer service) is seamless and the remaining shopping experience resembles that of the brand’s website. Spring is simplicity at its finest – one app to shop all the brands you love.
Friday, July 25 was an ordinary day for most, but for a select group of New Yorkers life took a turn, UP. The crew was draped in all white, the Moët Ice Impérial was flowing, and Complex and Team Epiphany had a little something special up their sleeves. Prior to sailing, Wiz Khalifa arose from the bottom level of the boat and surprised guests with an exclusive listening session of his upcoming LP, Blacc Hollywood.
Shortly after the intimate interaction with Wiz, the boat set sail and the real party was began. Partygoers took in the breathtaking views of New York City as DJ Wonder bumped the tunes culminating in a dance party that defied the time of day.
This #SUMMERFRIDAYS event raised the bar, making a weekend escape to the Hamptons irrelevant, and a Friday afternoon in the city well worth it. Guests went their separate ways wondering just one thing - what in the world could Team Epiphany do next summer to top this experience?
