Great TeamInteractive Run
TeamInteractive Half Marathon Training Run #1
Thought via Path
There are few things I enjoy more than a long run with @tobyd at Hudson River Greenway – Read on Path.
Yesterday, Joe Marchese and Michael Denton set off on a 100 mile bike ride from Water Mill, NY (South Hampton) to Manhattan. Even though, Google Maps claims 9+ hours of riding, both assumed they were faster than the average biker. So much faster, in fact, that they expected to complete the journey in less than 6 hours. (yeah f#%K!ng right!)
Including a 45 minute dinner break, two dozen water/bio breaks, and riding through heavy rain for 45 minutes, the pair rolled into NYC at roughly the same time Google predicted. All it they clocked over 115miles in roughly 9 hours.
As most people know, when you are pushing your body to it's limits, humor helps to distract from the excruciating pain you're going through and the frustration of how much more you need to accomplish. The below two examples of Joe's humor stick out in my mind as perfect distractions.
NOTE: These aren't the only two Joe jokes, just the only two that were safe for publishing.
(upon seeing a 55mp sign)
MD: (jokingly) "Think we can do 55?"
JM: "Not in a 54. I got 99 problems..."

(At Mile 70 [approx] as we pass Woodside Acres Golf Corse)
MD: "Wunna stop and play 9?"
JM: "I only play 18, and we should walk it."
MD: "I could use the exercise"

A massive thank you to my partner in crime Joe Marchese for leading the charge and allowing me to draft him (topless or not) for the bulk of the trip. I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without you.
