How to keep your viewers attracted to the show by Julie Plec

Step 1) Give countless interviews about how Klaroline had their closure and is over forever.

Step 2) Announce that the female lead is leaving the Originals

Okay I’m not usually one to vent a lot about the shows but here’s another thing that has bugged me for a while.

When Joseph Morgan, Julie Plec etc say that the fans have been campaigning for a spinoff “The Originals” long before the show was even thought of being made and now they’re actually getting what they wanted.

HELL NO.

Watch one of those old fan-made “Original” videos on youtube or read any fic regarding an Original spinoff, look at any gif-set of the idea. And you know who the main cast is in it?

THE ORIGINALS.

Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah.

KOL FREAKIN MIKAELSON. We wanted sassy Kol with his sociopathic tendencies and we wanted him to be with his siblings on a show.

Esther. We wanted more development, to see this mother that created these ‘monsters’ and show that twisted love that only Mikaelsons’ seem to have.

Finn - they killed him off before we even had a chance to see his character develop??

I could go on but I just wanted to get at least that much out.

This isn’t about us Klaroline shippers just wanting them together. It’s about how you took an idea that the fans created. Yes that’s right. An Originals spin-off was first brought up by fans. And you warped it into something were we don’t even recognise the characters we loved so much.

It continues to BOGGLE MY MIND how we, the fans, had VERY SIMPLE AND BASIC ideas for a spinoff focusing on family, flashbacks, that would attract more of an adult audience...

And yet, now we're left with this show, about 2 originals + a bajillion other random characters + an unnecessary baby storyline + a bunch of complicated witch juju....

Like, usually spinoffs are SIMPLE CONCEPTS because the audience KNOWS the characters.

You literally had to go the most complicated, ineffective route...

So, I stopped watching the Originals after episode...6 or 7 I think?

Anyways, so Claire Holt is leaving? No More Rebekah?

A SHOW CALLED "THE ORIGINALS" WHOSE FOCUS IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON "THE ORIGINALS" IS ONLY GOING TO HAVE 2 "ORIGINALS" ON IT + 123845U435479838542 OTHER RANDOM IRRELEVANT CHARACTERS?????

I was planning on waiting for the season to end and then watching all the episodes online or on netflix this summer...but it's like, do I really want to get back into a show that's sinking?

Claire leaving just seems like a bad sign to me...

poor Joseph, who knows what kind of roles he could have gotten had his time not been invested in this show...

*flashback to when the Vampire Diaries was actually good and Klaus was the best character to ever grace my television screen*

Klaroline ▶ Most underrated moment in 5x11

↳ To me, of course. First, look at this cutie. Who could resist her? The smile Klaus gave Caroline after this so-typically-Caroline-facial-expression, was one of those he gives solely to her. It’s both an amusing and sad moment, because you can see in it that he missed this, that he missed her, but at the same time that he’s also aware he’s about to have to let it all go, perhaps for good this time around. Still, I think this nostalgic smile makes for a beautiful, true Klaroline moment, because you can see how much he still loves her after everything.
