it's a good thing this week went well because we do not make cute jockeys
And here we have Brianna attempting to be a southern belle 😍 (75% humidity today)
What an amazing week it has been! I learned so much not only from riding in this show but also from the atmosphere that a competition of this caliber provides. I'm very proud of my horse who stepped up to the plate and tried his hardest in and out of the show ring. Shoutout to our young riders for taking home another team gold (#3PEAT) and also to my fellow junior teammates (Veronica West, Shelby Rocereto, and Mia Slaughter) for pulling our efforts together and swooping a team silver! Thank you to our Region 7 team sponsors, my trainer Nadine Pestana, our awesome chef Jamie Pestana (letterperfectmxk.tumblr.com), my super groom/mom, and the rest of my family back in CA for cheering me on! Sammy and Val are starting their journey home tomorrow morning at 7, wish us safe travels! - Brianna
Simply can not believe what an incredible week it has been at NAJYRC. Val and I were apart of an amazing team of riders and together we pulled off a Gold Medal for Region 7, which is Region 7's third YR Team Gold Medal over three consecutive years. I had the time of my life dancing for the crowd in the freestyles last night, placing in the top ten and getting my first 70 from a judge at an international competition. I feel so lucky to be able to have bonded with my teammates and have made friendships that will last a lifetime. Riding in the Rolex Stadium and being surrounded by so many young, talented riders is an experience I'll never forget. Most of all, I'm so proud of my horse, who may not have had his best test ever, but performed certain movements better than he ever has before. I have learned so much and am so grateful for this opportunity -Lindsey

Region 7 Young Rider Team Gold & Junior Team Silver
Region 7 Young Rider Team Gold
Region 7 had an amazing Team day today!! Young Riders took home the gold and Juniors took home the silver. We are all so proud of our teammates and horses who worked their hardest for us. Thank you to our Region 7 and the NAJYRC sponsors, our parents for their unwavering support, our amazing Chef Jamie and Coordinator Tracy, THAT Barn and all our friends back home, and of course our incredible trainer Nadine, we really would not be here without you
there was a tiny water fight
Region 7 is ready for the team competition starting tomorrow!
Tuesday July 14 Started today off with the in-barn vet inspections, then headed over for the jog! The horses were good and we all passed! It poured on and off all afternoon and there are several flooded areas throughout the park due to bad weather. We got to school in the Rolex Stadium for 20 mins, and again all of the horses were well-behaved in the huge arena. After a quick outfit change we headed over to opening ceremonies and the annual opening party at the beautiful Spycoast stables. Looking forward to the Team competition tomorrow!!
Coming from the severe drought in CA, we didn't know what to do when we got the tornado and flash flood warnings!! 70 mph wind plus LOTS of rain (like more water than I've seen fall from the sky at home in the past five years all combined). Luckily, the storm only lasted about an hour and all the horses were very brave except for Val who decided he doesn't like not being able to cuddle with his BFF Sammy over the top of our new stabling.
Monday July 13
Crazy day today! Nadine and Chef Jamie arrived early this morning from California. Val was fabulous for his ride after an… interesting trail ride over to the arena. Sammy was good as well, braving the crowded arena like a champ. We had the rider’s meeting today at the USDF office (Region 7 is in the spiffy white hats). There was also a mid-day tornado. We got our team clothing, which looks amazing, big thank you to W Farms for sponsoring our clothing, can’t wait for the jog tomorrow!!
