he sat just outside the building, his elbows resting on his knees with his head in his hands. he’d been worried sick all night long, something that he wasn’t used to doing much of, usually percy was a go with the flow kind of guy. but with the rumors that had been floating being confirmed, percy couldn’t help but worry.

percy rubbed his temples with a sigh before sitting up straight & leaning his body weight back onto his hands behind him. that’s when he noticed someone exiting the building & drifting toward him. he turned around to face the other with a sympathetic look.

“ hey.. i hope i didn’t wake you up when i got up, i - i couldn’t sleep.. there’s a lot to think about right now, ” percy spoke, his eyes steady on the person in front of him but his thoughts wondered profusely.

Carter shook his head as he looked down at Percy. His eyes were staring daggers into the other male. They boy didn’t sleep much at night, hell, he barely slept at all. Most of his time was spent reading or toying with whatever piece of technology he could get his hands on. They were distractions and the only things that gave him joy.

“Yyou didn’t” He mumbled, shifting his gaze to the open space in front of them.

she was stood in front of the room that esme often called hers, darwin’s fingers intwined within one another as she stared at the chipped paint and worn wood, the odd splinters and sad framework; she wanted to say something to her ––– ‘ you should kill them humanely. i can help, we could stay ’ ––– but all that left her lips was an exasperated sigh.

she left calgary to search for a life not dictated by a select few, yet somehow she’d found herself hurtling head-first into another hierarchy.

“ stay or go, stay or go… ” she murmured, biting down so hard on her bottom lip that a small trickle of blood appeared and travelled down her chin. darwin wasn’t a worrier, oh no, but she was concerned about the implications this would have; not only on the mutants, but on how close their possible next destination would be to her old home.

Carter had kept quiet all day. He barely moved from his room and when he did, he didn’t speak. The situation was entirely too much for him. Still, he had to leave his room sometime.

With his hoodie flipped up and hands firmly planted in his pockets, Carter made his way down the hall. The boy scanned the area, taking in as much information as he could muster. It was easier to pick up details when you said nothing. Still, that all changed when he saw Darwin.

He kept his distance, brows furrowed in confusion. “don’t go,” he mumbled bluntly. He wasn’t going anywhere, so why should anyone else?

Carter furrowed his brows, confused. He knew that’s what he was telling her, why else would he say it? He wasn’t deaf, after all. “Of course nothing lasts forever. That’s not possible.”

“This is by far the dumbest thing I’ve ever said, but — I really need to see the inhumans. Come on, I can’t be the only one who’s curious about it.” Already, Jack’s eyes were alight with a scientific interest, practically bouncing out of his seat with equal parts excitement and frustration.

“That is dumb. If you know it’s dumb why would you do it?” Carter asked seriously, scratching at his arm repeatedly. The truth was that he was curious. Just not curious enough to get himself killed. “Bu--but if you do t-take notes.” The boy said, better Jack than himself, after all.
