Have you ever met someone and it gives you an existential crisis
Lady Gaga on the set of āBad Romanceā music video.
Iām now the same age Gaga was when she created her magnum opus, Bad Romance.
It really is hard to imagine the level of fame she achieved in such a short amount of time, at such a young age. 23.
JYS with some important commentary. On the one hand, Iām sick of hearing about what other white voters think, but on the other, itās crucial for us white guys to share what we hear when no one else is around. Because itās worse than what a lot of you expect.
Iām pretty excited to be attending Parsons in January :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I already have my courses and the design streams I want to study (branding and identity, advertising, publication, possibly exhibition, information, web-based (keeping my options open)) picked out for my entire degree :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Hoping I donāt screwed over by housing and transportation and dining out in New York :)))))))))))))))))))
Hoping Iām safe :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Hoping Iām not reminded too much about the tumult of US politics :)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Erinās Law is named after childhood sexual assault survivor, author, speaker and activist Erin Merryn, who is the founder and President of Erinās Law, which is registered with the State of Illinois and the IRS as a 501 (c)(4) non-profit social welfare organization. After Erin introduced the legislation in her home state of Illinois, the bill was named āErinās Lawā after her by legislators and it has caught on nationwide. āErinās Lawā requires that all public schools in each state implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program. Watch Merryn and actor Julianna Margulies, who is being honored by Identification Discovery and People Mag on Nov 2 for her work with both the Brady Campaign to end Gun Violence and Erinās Law, take the BUILD stage to discuss this incredibly important law.
Even if this legislature doesnāt pertain to Canadian government, it should most certainly be a universal school mandate, to teach young children how to defend themselves and speak out against sexual predators, when theyāre afraid to or donāt fully understand the actions of adults who they love and trust, but are being abused by those very same people.Ā
Being a parent is so daunting, and itās a huge responsibility. Sometimes I forget that protecting children and keeping your family safe can be such a tough task; nowadays it seems there so much to ponder about the physical and mental health and safety of 21st century children, growing up in this nauseating, treacherous society of violence and virulent hate. I canāt believe that any parent would think this isnāt a necessary and life saving lesson, and yet there are clueless, careless, and unconcerned parents, uninvolved in their childrenās life. What is that about?
So I went to an art conference at my school. We discussed things there, like how colors can be very powerful and our subconscious picks up the subtlest of hints. Pixarās UP was a very unforgettable example. The colors of UP had a lot to do with why we cried. You all know what Iām talking about, right??
Ellieās death.
We were told that her color was pink. Thatās why her hospital room had pinkish hue.
And the next scene had strong pink hues. He misses her. I think itās got strong colors because of her personality.
Also, Itās like her presence is still lingering.
When he got home, only a small part of the frame (window on the right) has a pink hue as the sun is setting. By now, we know her presence is drifting away.
Mr. Fredricksen walks up the porch and goes into his house.
And when he shuts the door, the final frame looks like this:
Ellie is gone.
The entire frame is desaturated and cold because the warmth in Mr. Fredricksonās life is gone.
And thatās another reason why this masterpiece is heart-wrenching. And thatās how powerful colors are in films.
Thanks, I hate it!
Let them be the only voice heard. Ship them off to their own planet, and they'd still find a way to divide themselves and fight. Their hearts are ugly.
the fact that this was written two years ago and itās still relevant⦠what does that tell you?
Nothing will galvanize the American public to reform gun control. Remorse and grief have become indifference to what are now just bodies, upon bodies, upon bodies in the ground. Americans are at peace with violence--perhaps the whole world is.
Meditate on your own well being and protect yourself from violent images.
mother! (dir. Darren Aronofsky, 2017) MINOR SPOILERS
I donāt think Iāve ever been quite as galvanized to write, yet left utterly at a loss for words, inarticulate, and stricken with indiscriminate thoughts racing too fast for my hands to type or my mind to make coherent, than I am now, having seen mother!
Itās this same kind of protracted, grandiloquent language that Iām using now, that Darren Aronofsky employs in mother!, so if youāre weary of my prose now, I can assure you, this same āaffectationā will make the film insufferable for you. But while it is undeniably grandiose and indulgent in its symbolism, metaphors, and loose narrative, thereās one thing you should do when you decide to plant yourself into your seat for 121 minutes, which is to suspend all your beliefs about how to watch a movieāthis is a fairy tale of sorts; a gruelling, sickening one. Through intense sound, sights, nameless characters, and most of all, trauma after trauma after trauma, Aronofsky tells his own version of a creation myth, or if not quite that, he most certainly evokes profound rumination on the contradictions of pious zealousness, and a misanthropic, pessimistic, reflection on the cruel and selfish, destructive nature of humanity. Itās dividing criticsāsome call it pretentious, bombastic, and an assault on viewers. But, isnāt that what the world has devolved to? Into madness, violent images, horrific news, videos upon videos of real life trauma and brutality? mother! invokes all the ugliness of ourselves and compacts it, winds it up, binds it in so tightly, that eventually the tension of our existence, of every living, breathing thing, implodes unto itself. Itās an allegorical film, biblical, social, and political, so blunt at times, that itās a wonder how anyone could walk away from the theatre, confounded, asking each other what the hell happenedāhow the fuck did the film make you feel? If that isnāt the kind of question you want to ask yourself after seeing a film, then mother! is a futile, masochistic, and deeply unsettling filmic experience, bearing no reward. Otherwise, watch for yourself what happens, and the questions you ask yourself will surprise you.
There is plenty to analyze, to dissect, and to discuss, so many think-pieces to be generated and debated. While mother! may not be a pleasant film or even warrant the extreme distress of suffering it a second time, it succeeds in its profound visceral engagement and urgent message.Ā
The rapper Raury protesting at the Dolce&Gabbana ss/18 runway in Milan after learning about their support for the Trumps and their āboycottā campaign.
In times like these, everything is political and everyone is connected--to support a brand, a company, is to support a creator and their philosophies, ideas, values. Rauryās protest is a powerful and true statement of fashion as political--as it should be. GQās interview with him offers an insightful explanation to the controversy.
Thank u illuminati for bringing our girl back to us!!!
