After the game of capture the flag did not pan out how Ted had anticipated, he tried his best to put on a brave front. Tried but failed. his best being a revolving door of babysitters who found ted too much to handle, long nights at the office with ted sitting in the corner restless because he couldnāt find anyone to watch the poor kid and too many take away dinners that were interrupted because of important business calls
ted got pretty used to his own company and he hated it. he liked to be around other people, he was very inquisitive, very social
he definitely inherited demeterās warm temperamentĀ
he also inherited a love for cereal if he could,, he would live off it no lie
he would go to war for kelloggs
anyways,, as he got a little older, his dad thought it best to channel his unused energy into something so he was encouraged to play sports. plural.
and that he did
basketball, baseball, touch, honestly anything he could, he would
and he was really good at it too, not only physically but just in terms of teamwork and bonding
he loved it
and thank god for sports lmao they may have just saved his life
one day at baseball practice, the team received a replacement coach and well tl;dr the coach turned out to be a monster who was very intent on eating ted
fun times
teddy managed to get away somehow,,, thanks to his killer swing which left his trusty baseball bat looking like an uncooked noodle. the monster wasnāt dead, just down for the count but was ted about to stick around and wait? um nope
his gangly legs ran all the way home where he armed himself with every knife from the kitchen. even the butter knivesĀ
thankfully the next person who opened the door was indeed a person and not a creature looking to kill him. we love when that happens honestly
but yeah, his dad had zoomed home after receiving a call from scared little teddy :(( my poor boy
it was then that his dad explained (very poorly) that his mother was a greek goddess and that this was completely normal and more monsters would probably come after him and all that fun stuff. we love a supportive father
no but with everything explained to him, ted felt very mixed. he felt so much closer to his father but also very betrayed for keeping such a secret from him. he felt drained yet wired and excitable yet dread coursed through his veins
he also felt incredibly sad about his mother. heād always been told that his mother couldnāt care for him but she loved him very much and that was that. heād resigned himself to never being able to meet her but now he could?? yet sheād never be able to be a traditional mother thatād be able to go to his games or hang his awards on the fridge
a very bittersweet time
it was the year after that ted first went to camp (he was about to turn 12)Ā
um,,, he loved it??? was born for it???
wide open spaces, lots of greenery, a lava climbing wall, and a tonne of kids just like him
not to mention siblings???

ted generally always went back to live with his dad when summer was over. despite their relationship being barely there, the pair knew theyād have to look out for each other. and teddy knew his dad would let all his plants die... even the cacti
so life for ted basically became paper airplanes as a form of communication as he struggled through homework in his dadās office, playing as many sports as he could and a house empty of people but full of plants
cut to camp and summer which is when teddy was truly his happiest

heās constantly doing dumb shit but his heart is in the right place
tries to act like an asshole but fails?? what a dumb. heās such a lowkey soft boy but would threaten to stab you if you said that to him

god help the camp when he gets a crush
heās currently at camp full time while deciding what he wants to do with his life. he honestly thought about law school and following in his dadās footsteps but heās not sure and heāll never admit it to anyone. right now heās just trying to enjoy life and focus on training and looking after the younger campers
heās elected himself as everyoneās big brother whether you like it or not iām sorry
his role usually is the glue of a group he just wants everyone to be happy and to get along
he went on a quest about two years back and honestly everyone was so confused
why would you take a son of demeterĀ who seems like he never takes anything seriously on a quest???

but it was probably because he does act in the best interest for everyone and acts as the glue, trying to keep everyone together. and yes heās a dummy but heās good with a sword and he can point out poisonous berries
