Been listening to this song since it came out, love it. Ada Rook is also known as Black Dresses, known for her songs In My Mouth, Water, I Know, and Creep U. But this song takes a more rock metal approach.

This song feels like a campy queer horror/slasher movie with a low budget. In the best way possible.

I chose this version specifically because… it’s the first version I listened to. And I like it the best.

The background beat sound reminds me of a cunty rhythm game. But the vocals and guitar are more punk/rock, with scremo elements, that sound like a drag queen getting murdered to me. Again in the best way possible.

Something you should know about me is, regardless of only discovering her music this past summer, I love PJ Harvey. You will see more of her songs.

She emulates the 90s grunge aesthetic and sound, mixed with a healthy dose of female rage and perversion. The song has a slow start and then abrupt into this loud rage, reflecting how rage slowly festers inside of someone until it turns into resentment and bursts out suddenly.

You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette is an absolute 10/10 in my book. She’s a Canadian legend. Fun fact: this song was most likely written about Dave Coulier, aka Uncle Joey from Full House. Coulier himself stated he believed the song to be about him. He was 33 and she was 18 when they dated 🤢.

The song was written almost like she was writing in her diary, filled with plenty of young female rage. She isn’t afraid to dive into the deeply sexual and somewhat disturbing feelings as well. Perfect song to listen to after a guy fucks you over.
