dinner at Sonnets' || @madilynkaya
A little over a day after their conversation, Lula went to meet up with Madi. She has made sure to finish up charting, her cases, and to do the handover at the scheduled last hour of her shift, not wanting to prolong her dinner plans. She has already changed into her everyday clothes, too, ready to go straight home.
Madi smiles softly and makes her way over to Dr Lula as she hears her call her name “Nope! All done, finally” she mumbles that last part with a sort of playful annoyance in her tone. She adjusts her jacket and slings her bag over her shoulder. “Are you done yet?” She gestures to the computer Lula was standing near.
"I'm glad to hear that. And yes, I've just finished." She still checked whether the last page she had on was turned off, before facing Madi again. She walked with her straight to her car in the parking lot.
"Thank you again for agreeing to come over for dinner." The words left her lips just as she unlocked her car, and put her bag in the backseat. The true intention behind this meeting didn't even affect the genuine gratitude in her voice.
Madi steps outside with Lula, following slightly behind her so she can lead her to her car “Of course! Thank you for inviting me! I really appreciate it!” She responds genuinely, smiling softly, fidgeting with the strap of her bag. She opens the front passenger door and puts her bag at her feet
“A favour? For coming over and eating your delicious cooking? Please!” She teases, softly nudging Lula’s arm as she drives. As soon as they pull up to Lula’s house, Madi’s eyes widen “woah it’s massive! And so nice!”
"Thank you. My husband and I wanted for everyone to have enough space, so this was the perfect house, and we had enough money for it not to be a financial burden." The woman explained with a genuine smile on her face, as she led the girl inside. There, she slipped off her shoes, and she left the jacket by the door.
Madi did the same. She wasn’t often in houses as fancy as this, so she just followed what Lula did, hoping it was ok. “It’s really nice” Madi compliments as she walks inside, looking around. She smiles softly up at Lula, hoping she can’t tell that she’s not really used to this
"Thank you." Lula nodded her head slowly, before leading them both to the living room. She only stopped by the kitchen to greet her husband with a short kiss on his cheek, before she focused back on Madi.
"And please, try to relax. Iñigo and his friends probably ruined this house more than you could ever. One time they even broke one of my vases, so it's really fine." The smile on her face grew, turning more amused at the memory, and at Madi's behaviour. The thought also made her point in the direction of a few, self-made, and self-painted vases near them.
Madi smiles softly towards Lula’s husband with a small wave. She almost instantly reverts back to being a respectful teenager. “Hi sir! Nice to meet you” she’s definitely stressed about doing the right thing. She’s never really done ‘family dinner’ before.
She relaxes visibly when Lula reassures her. She looks toward the vases “you made these? They’re beautiful” she keeps her distance, scared of accidentally breaking one. She fidgets softly with her hands
"Hey, pequeña." Álvaro greeted the woman, turning his face towards her just for a moment, before he focused back on setting up the dinner for all of them.
"Yes, I did. You can touch, if you want. They're not toxic, nor do they bite." She joked a little, before she sat down on the couch. She stared up the stairs for a second. Still, she didn't call out for either of her kids to come downstairs just yet. "Would you like to sit down? Dinner should be ready soon, but we'll probably have to wait anyway."
Madi doesn’t really know what that means but by his tone of voice she assumes it’s a term of endearment. She gives a small nod in response. She glances quickly at the vases again before Lula’s voice grabs her attention, asking if she would like to sit “oh… yes of course” she smiles softly, realising she’s probably been standing awkwardly in their lounge room this whole time
"He just called you 'kid', nothing bad. I made sure they'd play nice." The reassurance left her lips in as calm of a tone as she could master, even with the thought of her children who were far more into teasing their friends than her or her husband.
"My daughter is around your age, so hopefully, it will be easier to discuss things with her." The sentence followed almost right after the previous ones. Her posture stayed relaxed, even as she noticed the awkwardness in Madi's stance.
Madi goes to sit next to Lula on the couch with a small giggle. She’s obviously much less stressed about the simple family dinner. She smiles softly as Lula reassures her that her daughter is her age “aww really!?” That makes her feel more at ease.
The woman nodded shortly, looking away from the girl for another second, as her gaze fell on the stairs again. She didn't seem to be focusing on them either, as she recalled both of her children in her mind. "They're both in their twenties, but I wouldn't be surprised if you got along better with Baila... Especially with how creative you two are."
“Baila?” Madi asks softly, not too sure which child she’s talking about. She gets more comfortable on the couch as she talks to Lula
"She's my daughter, she's much younger than Iñigo. He's closer to being thirty... I can't tell when that time passed." Lula shook her head gently, as if she was getting rid of memories from when her children were little. She kept smiling anyway, unable to stop the corners of her lips from rising.
Madi smiles softly in response to Lula’s smile “the way you talk about your kids, you must be so proud” she says softly, nudging Lula’s arm
"I am," Her voice, if it is even possible, softens more. Her eyes come back to Madi's face, even as Lula's head moves in a nod. Her attention soon shifts from the young woman anyway with footsteps, finally, echoing against the stairs.
Baila shows in their view not long after, but she doesn't notice them immediately. She chats up her dad as soon as she's close enough, seeing the food on the table long after she speaks up about whether the dinner is ready or not in spanish. "Oh, you're already here. Hi. Cause you're Madilyn, right?"
“Hi” Madi stands with a soft smile, making her way over to her “you must be Balia. It’s so nice to meet you! I’ve heard a lot about you!”
Lula follows after Madi, standing up, and walking closer to the dining table. She still doesn't say anything, since she lets the girls talk between each other. She even steps besides Álvaro to give them more privacy.
"I hope only the best things. My mom talks a lot about you, too, especially about the things you do for the hospital." Baila replies instead, smiling back at Madi.
“Only the best things” Madi reassures her, glancing back at Lula “and what did you tell her about me?” She playfully scolds, nudging Lula’s arm
"I've said exactly what anyone else would have said, a lot about how good of a social worker you are." Lula confessed with a little, growing smile. She didn't pull away, when the brunette nudged her, and the only movement was her arm following the one of Madi's arm. "Now, come on. Dinner is ready, so we should start, before it gets cold. Iñigo!"
Madi smiles softly “thanks Lula” she says genuinely leaning into her before following her to the dinner table
Everyone was sat in front of their plates, Lula's son coming down soon after she yelled out for him. The Sonnet family started to eat, too, and mostly neither spoke up in between chewing. Still, Lula was smiling gently - both from the knowledge that Madi had a warm food prepared for her, and at the gratitude in her behaviour.
"So... what's your spice level?" Iñigo asked, glancing at Madi to his side, and taking a break from the food just to talk to her. An idea already formed in his head, clearly for both women related to him.

i think we need to focus much more on the beauty of a human body, all the folds, curves, dimples and softness, and much much less on dieting and making yourself smaller
This is something I fully agree with.

whos your favourite quarry character?? i love Nick so much.
I really enjoyed Ariel Winter's character, Abigail. She was very sweet, though, I have only found out more about certain characters after my first time playing the game
have u met that one paramedic here? he looks like that one guy from the werewolf game's twin its fucking crazy. the guy who loses his hand.
First of all, to inform you, you are talking about Dylan Lenivy. Second of all, yes, I've met him before.
Happy pride month everyone!
Quick reminder to drive safely, too, since I'm posting a picture from when I dropped off some plushies for the hospital.
Besides that, if anyone needs some motherly love this month (whether you are out or not, whether your family is or is not supportive), you can find me anywhere in the department or at my home, but I'll be there for you even there with a simple call!
dr lula🤍i’m in love with you
Oh, thank you. Though, it’s not like I am doing anything. How could I not celebrate multiple important people in my life or multiple talented people from my work place? It certainly wasn’t a case of hesitation for me
your header is a screencap from The Quarry i automatically love you
Thank you! My daughter and I loved this game.

CW: Police officers being dicks, Child Abuse, foster system and all that is wrong with it, mental health
Malaki was brought into the ER, cuffed to the bed with a police officer shoving him down every time he tries to sit up. "LET GO OF ME" He shrieks as he thrashes.
He was quickly losing fight though, his body too malnourished and weak to fight much. He had runaway from his group home a few months ago, and finally the police had caught him. Apparently someone called about a teenager acting strange.
Unfortunately, they didn't seem to care about his comfort. They chased him down and tackled him, causing his face and hands to get all scratched up. Now they were acting like he was in the midst of a mental health crisis. Which he kind of was but only because he was terrified. Terrified of going back, of what the cops might do, of everything.
Madi steps in, hearing the screaming “hey HEY! Enough!” She steps between Malaki and the officers “what the hell are you doing to my patient!” Technically she wasn’t on his case but it seemed like lying was the best course of action
"He was being aggressive, we have to follow protocol." One of the officers says.
"he's almost an adult anyways" the other grunts as he tries to push past her to hold down the boy who was already beginning to get up. Malaki kicks out at them, wanting space but too emotional for words
“Almost an adult doesn’t mean he is an adult… back the fuck off” she pushes the cops out and shuts the door of Malaki’s bed bay. She sits on the chair next to his bed, staying silent, just making sure he’s ok, hoping he’ll talk when he’s ready
He curls up, tugging the cuff a few times. Each time he is met with a metallic click and resistance.
Suddenly he throws himself off the bed, arm bending back painfully as he tries to grab anything he can to help him
“We can’t get you out of those right now when you’re this erratic” she says calmly, hoping some sort of explanation will help “when you’ve calmed down a bit we can get them off ok?”
He makes a displeased noise and reaches for the chair, intending to throw it at the glass where he sees the police still watching him with barely hidden displeasure. His fingers barely brush against it and he strained more
She sighs, trying to stay calm but honestly she’s worried about him “I need you to take a few deep breaths ok?”
“Fucking PIGS” he finally grabs the chair and throws it in their direction, though it barely gets a second of airtime. He slipped and crashed to the ground with the throw. Simply curling up there as the police open the door, concerned for Madi’s safety. He wouldn’t hurt her though, she hadn’t done anything to him.
“Trust me I know” she mumbles under her breath. She’s had enough run ins with law enforcement as a teen to somewhat understand how he feels. Her eyes widen as the cops open the door “I need you out… he needs to calm down and you’re not helping”
“We can’t have him hurting you, he’s shown he’s violent. Get him his meds or whatever you do and let us bring him to the station” the bigger man says in his gruff voice.
Malaki looks around for something else to throw. He tugs the cuff desperately. The man reminded him of one of the fosters he had a while ago.
Madi gives a polite but tense smile. She’s already hates this guy “yeah I’ll go do that” she closes the door to Malaki’s bed bay again, this time locking it and closing the curtain too “I might have to give you something to calm you down ok?” She says calmly, just sitting for now, wanting him to have some choice.
He tugs the cuff desperately, hiding himself behind his knees. For the first time since he came in his actions were childish in a different way. A desperate attempt at safety, at protection.
His arm and shoulder were aching now, having been bent at an odd angle for too long. He looks up at her though his bangs
Her lips press into a thin line, trying to hide how worried she is. She wishes she could get the cuffs off him but she just can’t until he calms down, for his and her own safety. She sighs, weighing up her options “I’m gonna give you a sedative now, just a little bit, and then I can take those cuffs off ok? You’ll be awake and aware enough to know what’s going on and I’ll be with you the whole time”
He yelps as the needle pricks his leg, in a short amount of time he feels his heart rate slowing, despite the fear still strong. His mind felt coated with honey, thoughts slowing as he slumps. Distantly he was even more terrified, he wouldn’t be able to stop anything happening. He could barely before but now it was worse.
As he finally starts physically calming down. She gets the cuffs off him “you’re ok… I’m here with you ok? I’ll make sure no one hurts you… try to keep your eyes open ok?” she tries to reassure him. Hopefully the drugs will wear off soon. Hopefully he’ll be less erratic when they do.
He looks at her, legs slipping down as he tightens from the ball he curled himself into.
“You lied” he slurs, “you’re g’nna let ‘m take me way!” Malaki’s eyes had tears in them, though they wouldn’t actually fall
She shakes her head, her eyes brimming with tears herself “I won’t let them, I promise…” she tries to calm him down “shhh I promise I’ll do everything I can…”
He holds his hands close to himself, looking up at her. “I don’t like ‘m” he says as he points to the cops, flipping them off with what little strength he had left
“Yeah I know… I don’t like them either…” she says with a soft smile at his weak middle finger
“They hurt me” he pouts, trying to pull himself on the bed
“I know… they can’t anymore, I’ll get Robby or someone scary to go deal with them”
He nods and lays down on the ground
“…. You’re allowed to lay on the bed you know?” She crouches to be eye level with him “can I help you onto the bed?”
“Yeah please” he says as he tries to stand up again
“Mkay” she helps him up to the bed “there you go… better?”
He curls up and nods, “didn’t wan’ hospital”
“I know… but if you didn’t come here you wouldn’t have got to hang out with me” she jokes
He grins slightly at her, still loopy, “but they’re gonna take me away!”
“I’ll work something out ok?” She tries to reassure him, not sure how she’ll get the police to leave him alone but she’ll make it happen
He nods, playing with the bedsheets absentmindedly. He looks around the room
The blond-haired woman walked through the corridor to Malaki's room, easily noting the presence of the police men. She greeted them, but instead of asking them anything, she immediately turned towards the door.
With a short knock and the lock turning, she walked inside. Closing the door behind them, she checked if the curtains were pulled properly. "Hello, I'm Doctor Lula Sonnet. Before we start, what is the reason for the cops being here, and you likely having been handcuffed?"
@madilynkaya
“The police said he was aggressive when they brought him in but he was mostly just erratic and confused from my perspective. Gave him a low dose of lorazepam that calmed him down” Madi explains softly, keeping an eye on Malaki to make sure he’s ok.
@tedoulula
Malaki stares at them, too tired to ask questions. He closed his eyes, turning to his side and hugging his stomach as if growls slightly
@tedoulula
Her lips moved to the side, as she pursed them. Her thoughts focused back to everything she has seen or heard by now. Her eyes stayed on the boy, who she soon addressed, "I will go talk with them, and then, I will come back to check you over."
Anything else that may have been said was lost on her, as Lula immediately did just that. The door closed with a push from her, and the handcuffs were already in between her fingers. Fortunately, she managed to convince them to leave without additional issues.
@redwindchaser
The larger cop looks over at her, standing straight up, "Is he clear to go?" He asks in a gruff voice, clearly not caring all that much about the hospitals protocols
"Not yet." Lula stared back at them, clearly unaffected by his demeanour. She instinctively straightening her own back, matching the man's posture. "Has he done anything except for acting out? From what I've heard, his behaviour didn't seem... mentally stable, which makes me consider keeping him for observation. Especially now with him having been sedated."
@redwindchaser
"He was being aggressive to us, not to mention he has been seen around the streets for a few days, just loitering. It is annoying people since he...well you know" He gestures to the kid, who yeah looked a little rough but what else could you expect from someone who's been on the streets for over a month
"No, I don't think I know what you mean, officer. I also don't think there was any malicious about his intentions for loitering, so as far as I am aware, it is not something that either of you need to stay here for." Her body shifted slightly, covering up the view towards the door from the men. Her eyebrows narrowed at the comment, even if her voice reimained calm.
Without any words, she stretched out her hand with the handcuffs to the cops to hand them over, ready to be done with them. "He is also a child, which makes me think of far more reasons that would indicate negative things about the boy's parents than about him."
The cop scoffs, "The boys parents, you think a kid like that still has parents around. No he's a ward of the state, a system kid, we've dealt with him and kids like him a lot. He's too aggressive for foster homes, we had to pull him out of a couple after he claimed abuse."
The other cop rolls his eyes, "He reported abuse, we could not find any evidence of it however, but he was removed from the home. That was almost a year ago now" he says, his words a little more gentle and understanding.
Her expression softens for just a second at the other cop's words, but she forces the seriousness back on her face just as quickly. Her annoyance at the behaviour of the man who talks the most right now is enough to help with hiding the worry she felt for the boy. That worry can stay there for when she'd actually talk to him.
"That does not give you a reason to handcuff or even arrest him for something that would be a misdemeanour in the first place." The mere idea of the mistreatment done by the cop that was, to use his own words against him, too aggressive for his job complicated the chance for Lula to keep calm.
"She has a point" The other cops says, "We can call his social worker and she can figure out the next course of action. If we need to charge him we can come back when he can actually understand what we are saying"
The big cop scoffs, something about homeless people ruining the city and he walks off. The other cop just sighs and follows him out, after giving Lula his contact information.
Putting the contact information away, she sighs out to get rid of any irritation from earlier. Only after that, and after another knock on the door, does she come into the room. Shortly, she glances at Madi as if to check on her.
She stays focused on the patient for most of it anyway. She talks to him, too, doing her best not to mention his situation. It wouldn't help with his assessment right now anyway... "The cops left, so that should be handled for now. Are you okay with me examining you right now, Malaki?"
@madilynkaya
“I’ll be right here with you observing from a mental health perspective… we can wait until you’re feeling ok for me to question you ok?” She reassures him softly “they’re gone now, you’re safe with us”
@redwindchaser
He looks between the two of them, the medicine in his system preventing him from getting worked up.
“Okay, I guess you can then…”
@tedoulula
With his permission, Tallulah steps closer to the bed, and to Malaki himself. Explaining everything as she is doing it, she begins looking over him. Her touch stays gentle as to not cause more pain. Her eyebrows are still narrowed, but now, more in concentration than anger.
"Would you like something to eat or drink after?" She questions casually, not looking up at his face from where she was checking his wrists.

@madilynkaya
“The police said he was aggressive when they brought him in but he was mostly just erratic and confused from my perspective. Gave him a low dose of lorazepam that calmed him down” Madi explains softly, keeping an eye on Malaki to make sure he’s ok.

Malaki stares at them, too tired to ask questions. He closed his eyes, turning to his side and hugging his stomach as if growls slightly
@tedoulula
@redwindchaser
@redwindchaser
"He is also a child, which makes me think of far more reasons that would indicate negative things about the boy's parents than about him."
dinner at Sonnets' || @madilynkaya
