EDWARD TONKS || SIXTH YEAR || RAVENCLAW || Â TAKEN || FC: ANDREW GARFIELD
Your cold blood cannot be worked into a fever â your veins are full of ice-water â but mine are boiling, and the sight of such chillness makes them dance.â
Before Hogwarts, Ted had lived a life not many were able to afford. His family lived in London, his parents had a successful business firm and he had never been deprived of anything. Despite the fact he could get anything he wanted by just asking for it, Ted was modest and didnât really expect that much. He wanted to fit in with the other kids and that wouldnât happen easily if his parents drove him to school in their expensive car now, would it? Of course his mother and father appreciated that about him. Even though they were rich, they didnât rush to throw it in peopleâs faces and brag, so it made them happy that his son didnât require that many expensive things, even if it was just for the cause of fitting in. But often enough strange things started happening to Ted. Whenever bullies approached him and his friends and it got so bad that they started a fight it was like every time someone tried to throw a punch at him an invisible force surrounded him, bouncing the other person away from the boy. He was very confused by this but it seemed like everything became clear the day he received his Hogwarts letter. His parents couldnât believe it. They were expecting big things from Ted, but being a wizard was definitely not one of them. Nevertheless they tried to embrace the situation and even went to Diagon Alley with him to pick up his things and help him get sorted, after all they didnât want their son to be thrown into a whole new world all on his own.
Hogwarts was an interesting place for Ted, filled with magic and wonder, but at the same time, there were many who hated him, just for being muggleborn. It was ironic since he had seen this kind of behavior from some of the other rich kids in his school, towards those who didnât have as much money as them. Ted had never behaved that way and a apart of him hoped that one of those Purebloods could be like that. Happily enough he wasnât wrong, he discovered that there are families like the Potters and McKinnons that accept everyone for what they are. But they were still looked down on in their society, no matter how good their cause was. What truly surprised him was Andromeda Black. He had learned that the Black family was by far the worse when it came to supremacy and discrimination, in fact he had had a few run ins with Bellatrix. Still, one day he was paired up for a project with Andromeda and discovered that the girl wasnât as scary as he thought. She was outspoken and opinionated, but polite as well, also after a few conversations he noticed how interested she was in the muggle world. She asked him questions about it and wanted to learn more but at the same time he could see how scared she was just by the thought of someone seeing them together. He probably should have found that offensive, but he couldnât help but feel sorry for the girl raised in such a cruel world. They started secretly meeting up and talking about everything. Ted told her many stories about the muggle world, his life and his parents and after a few months passed, Andromeda started sharing too. It wasnât easy for her and he could see that but he was thankful to have her close to him. Soon enough Ted realised that he had started developing feelings past friendship towards her.
Learning that someone from his house had been found dead was shocking to Ted. He knew the wizarding world possessed dangers, but he never thought they would be anywhere near Hogwarts. Moreover, the confusion and mystery around her death soon became the most talked about subject in the school, especially in Ravenclaw. While he was a little curious, he would never go as far as discussing it and he felt strange when he heard other people talking about it, as if they were trying to figure out a book ending, not the end of someoneâs life. Ted believed they should all keep quiet and pay their respects and most of all, hope it never happens again.
