just watched one of my st lucias sprint over to a gammarus i put inside the tank with such urgency that i initially thought it was running away from my tongs. nope, just a hungry fuck

isopod update, one of my favourites in the colony because of the beautiful brown colour, also one of the few adults because when i bought them i got a whole bunch of juveniles which are slowly growing. havent had any mancae yet!

had to circumcise my coleus 😔 but i pressed the flower stalk!! i really wanted to preserve it because its so pretty. dont mind the freaky daisy to the right thats normal

got offered a place on the science course i signed up for today! interview went smoothly this morning and in three months ill be on the course, admissions almost immediately confirmed i was on it. feels a bit bittersweet for me because of other things going on, but im happy ill get to engage with biology a lot more, though physics and maths are going to be a bit of a struggle for me.

i noticed a tiny fucking mushroom in my ISOPOD TANK TODAY?? this is unprecedented, but it probably means the tank is full of healthy mycelium. i dont even know what kind of mushroom it is but its hanging onto a piece of leaf litter, so interesting

i applied for a science course today. i know why i gave up on science when i was younger, school and family life was stressful, and so was being undiagnosed neurodivergent, but god do i want to study something like entomology. i was thinking of doing something that would help me with my writing, but ultimately i dont feel like i want help with learning creative things, im self taught for a reason and ill write regardless of whether or not im studying. the only thing im afraid of with science is having to re-learn mathematics, but im willing to try. i really want to be ready for it.

this fucking thing needs repotted again, nightmare. i’ve let go of a few plants in the past months but this coleus continues to plague me despite multiple aphid outbreaks. i think it might be starting to flower actually
