Economic effects: The telegragh was new best thing it a llowed for businesses to stay in contact with products and investors so in turn because of this the telegraph is marked as essential to the development of market economy in the united states,by helping intergrate the economy forging a national economic system. Geographic effects

9 years after I was a successful invention, only one state wasn’t connected to me.

1861- Lines were all over the American continent - Canada and Nova Scotia.

1866- The telegraph had lines from America to Europe. Later being a phenomenon in North America and Eurasia. The ‘transatlantic cable” ( loc.gov the impact of the telegraph. )

Political effects

The country ( America) now had more control over each state and their global connections with my fast form of communication. This changed their relationship and the amount of power they held. If there was a problem in another country, you wouldn’t have to wait weeks for a reply, which at time, the situation might’ve escalated by then. Politics became for organized, but also more powerful.

Social effects

Newspapers were able to get news faster than ever. Instead of the news taking days or weeks, it now took hours or minutes to get information. Not many people at the time had telegraphs. They were mainly used for businesses. The telegram was more for the average person than me. But I was the spark that lighted the fire. I was also avery big help in the world of crime. Messages of criminal activity and such were reported much faster, meaning that criminals had little time to cover their tracks and skip town. But it has also given them new ways to disobey the law. So this can can go either way.

What am I?

I am a system that transmits messages through a wire.These are mostly from long distances to send information from one place to another in a short amount of time.

Why was I invented?

I was created for long distance. During his time in England, Morse had gotten a message that his late wife had grown sick. He returned home immediately to see her. But unfortunately, by the time he got there, she had already passed. This led him to want a faster form of communication so that no one else would lose a loved one at the hands of slow communication.

Where was I invented?

I was invented in New York City, New York at New York University.

When was I invented?

I was being created through lots of trial and error throughout the 1830s and 1840s. But it wasn’t until January 11, 1838 that I was demonstrated. And not until May 24, 1844 that the first message using me had been routed from Baltimore to Washington. With the help of many other inventors along the way, 6 years later I had became a success.

Who invented me?

Samuel Morse of course! Co founder of the Morse code. ( get it, MORSE code? Yea makes sense now. ) He was born April 27, 1791 and died April 2, 1872. Both in April pretty interesting right? But get this, he was born right in Charlestown, Boston, MA! Despite being from Mass, he died of pneumonia in New York City at the age of 80! But before he created such an amazing invention such as myself, he was an American painter. One of his most well known paintings is a portrait of the Marquis de Lafayette.
