reminder that there are many physical disabilities that involve the brain. disorders can be both neurological and psychiatric, but they are two separate categories of illness.

in discussions about brain dysfunction, people usually think of neurodiversity and mental illness. neurological disorders that are primarily physical are often left out of the conversation entirely.

many neurological conditions are not psychiatric, and treating the two as synonymous is denying the lived experiences of a large percentage of the physically disabled population.

How the fuck do you think they're ever going to reach out for help if they see everybody all the time shitting on them for being "disgusting" or "lazy" for something that spiraled out of their control due to depression, or ocd, or not being able to clean, or not having anyone to clean, etc etc etc. Living in a hoarding situation doesn't make anyone a bad person or filthy or undeserving of basic respect and love.

rare disability is a spectrum. some disabilities having only 3 recorded cases doesn't make disabilities that are 1 in 2000 (the legal definition of a rare disability) not rare. you can talk about the difference in experiences between different levels of rarity without scare quotes labeling comparatively common rare disabilities as somehow not rare.

i need you to understand that when i talk about medical fatphobia (or fatphobia in general) i am especially talking about the fattest person you could ever fucking imagine. yes i am also talking about small fat people and “chubby” people. but i am ESPECIALLY talking about people who are so fat they can’t take care of themselves, who can’t walk, who can’t take care of hygiene independently, who do nothing but sit/lie down all day and eat.

you need to get in your head that these fat people are human too, who are deserving of good healthcare. if you only support people who are a little fat or if your support is conditional based on weight and peoples efforts to lose weight or not, it’s not support. it’s eugenics.

Like, people doing ECT, people with migraines, people with brain fog, when you're delirious from either mental or physical illness or the meds used to treat them, trauma... it's a damn near universal experience because of all the different ways your brainmeats can forget. And it's such an action of love to fill someone in on all the "unimportant" things that only really matter because they're important to you.

I miss the cripplepunk community so much, and I feel ready to come back now. I’m so sorry for my disappearing act, but my mental health was really at the worst point it’s been at in years (the worst since my ex sent me so far into a delusion it nearly killed me, if anyone knows that story)

I won’t talk about my schizophrenia much right now, I’m not ready to. It’s messed up a lot of things for me and I’m still recovering from what over a year of psychosis does to someone, when I feel more comfortable I’ll talk more about it.

there’s also no moral superiority for never making unhealthy choices. you’re not better than everyone else because you don’t drink or smoke or take risks. imo you’re kind of boring for only ever making the safe, healthy choice. I want people around me who understand when I do things that are bad for me and make their own bad choices too.
