no point in hiding the truth, something was happening between them. or maybe it was simply her walls coming down, she didn't want to admit defeat so fast. yet avoiding the topic wasn't done so easily, not with his gestures. his holds, the way he looked at her. the way his eyes dug behind her, knowing how he watched her. arthur wasn't a predator, his intentions were clear on day one. enjoying her company, never any pressure. surely this was different from the past relationships, in truth dating. artemis didn't have time to date, her busy schedule were taking a lot of her time. plans of dates fell through and her getting together with friends were only made by months spread apart. her doubts circled, maybe he would get tired of her.

again her soon doubts were turning to wishes. wasn't it simpler to live solely alone. love endlessly without a cut end to another. her hands snapped open a fresh brew tea, her studio of a place in new york. barely touched as if someone never lived there, surely enough there was one room she bound herself into; her work. many large canvases stood tall as the focal point in the room, the darkened shade gifted a fraction of the afternoon burning sun. artemis grasped the two hot mugs and walked back to where arthur was waiting. handing him one as she smiled to him, too big of a smile. reminding herself to tone it down but purely she couldn't.

" anyways, as i was saying ." she laughed, falling into the cracks of enjoying his company. " - they are renovating the whole lower level of the building of gallery twenty, which all the holding of the view was meant to be -." artemis paused as she sipped her tea, setting it down and waving arthur to follow to get his expertise on his views on - the work. " time never seems to slow down - you wouldn't imagine the many entries - " at first artemis was facing arthur as she spoke, her excitement bubbled. again, those waves of doubt filtered and she turned to look at her work. talking about her worries of the location change to have a lot of drop outs. luckily in turn of events. " I didn't realize how many were willing to uh - " it wasn't on purpose for her to walk over to the siding of the room, the ledge being wide open invitation.

his hands felt firm on her hips, almost respectful. she swore she felt his hands glide a little lower to settle on the press of her arched back. maybe it was her imagination, too many late nights to firmly say. there she sat, leveled to his eyes as her body wiggled to squeeze into comfort. " - I didn't realize how - " good his eyes looked, how much she wanted to stare into them. her body leant forward, finger tips were inches from his shoulders as she went silent. " I - " she swallowed her hand back in and parted her mouth to speak. " too much work talk? yeah I know, I've heard that before. " her head bobbled, agreeing for him. gifting herself to use her thumb and first few fingers to grip his own chin, guiding it to a nod. " you can be honest with me."

why aren't they scared of him, athan plurged as he fought heavy thoughts. his hands feeling the skin tighten ever so slightly, body warning with tension of stress. stress, impossible for him to indulge even a glance. perhaps tho this was a reason more due to a building affection. dark eyes followed down as the light flames flickered and swallowed into the darkness of his clothes. black, nothing more suited him than what he best represented. why would she care for me - his brows knit before he reminded himself of being around the bond fire his father had dug into the middle of the field. nudged by the small laugh of kay's as she looked natural among the others. it wasn't till his eyes locked with his sisters and the annoyance of her giving him queue. a missed opportunity to not waste, not when he was close and on purpose.

athans mind raked with how to break into the conversation. his body making a movement to seem into it when it was something he didn't find interest, or really of his own. he reminded himself, one step at a time. right now was a moment for his connection with kay. his slideshow of curiosity stopped when he remembered a movie of the ideal idea of friends into a relationship, a spark clicked as he sighed. yet again his logical process of every little detail began hurling in - kay never gets cold. he beat himself to it when his darker and heavier black fleece lined flannel was soon swept off of his arm and onto hers.

the small restraint of any breath was concealed . a side glance to artemis who was already smiling at him, too giddy with her expression. overwhelming and it wasn't till he understood why artemis was even more expressive. the lips of kay onto the side of his temple, unaware of his hold of his body still leant as if he was waiting for rejection of his coat. only to soon feel her kiss fall into a smile, the smallest of appreciation from her. maybe those movies weren't so wrong in some ways. but love couldn't work that easy, or could it?

He studied the changing nuances in her blush-tinged face with an inquisitive gaze. The tinge of nervousness in Artemis' voice almost made him smile. As if mocking his origins, Arthur never sought anything other than knowledge. For him, the idea of love was nothing more than a subject for a novel. He has traveled thousands of worlds and lived thousands of lives in his unprecedentedly long existence, but love, that fickle companion, has never crossed his path. So what was it about the woman standing in front of him that was so different, so special that he could almost feel the feeling digging unwaveringly into his chest? There was no doubt that the same thoughts plagued her. But was it even necessary to fight against it? He didn't ask her for anything. Just her presence. But what if it was too much for Artemis to ask for?

"What is binding your thoughts? Is it the excess of work on your shoulders or perhaps…" He stepped closer and with a graceful movement, he anchored his arms on her fragile shoulders before looking deep into her eyes. He would have sworn he would be able to drown in the green waters. "Or is it perhaps my presence that makes your voice quiver, my morning star?"

war collapsed into yearning and retreat, he was reading her like an open chapter. a possible play he has done over many times. yet she laid little clue on where to step next. the sudden change in shadow, the closeness and artemis allowed it, the sense of weakness. could she survive this war which pulled her into forfeiting into truth. tinted lips parted before she felt the stems of his hands mapping into her bones. the skin calming, the hair rose into a comfort of a hum. she could curse them once in a solace place. " you say this to every dashing little star? " the corner of her mouth curled, a stare she wasn't to live and be lost. " you're ..." full of it, she thought. " on the right track. work doesn't help. and I. " painted nails pressed onto his stomach, feeling what was now invading her words to lapse into a fumble. " you're making me lose track of where i left off . "

fingers splayed to brush the buttons on his shirt, till the light grasp shoved his position back. to what little she could achieve. " you're not here to relieve my stress, Arthur. we are here to work. or at least, it feels as if I am to do it all. " a curt smile was colored when her head turned to look towards the table. her hands touching the coldness of the edges to battle down the heat he has sparked. breath taken, playing it off as if her eyes were studying the marble effect the artist had skilled on the canvas. " let us focus. " perhaps she felt the statement was more towards her.

there's nothing wrong and her moment to pull away withered into air. this feeling was meant to be untouchable, cased away to freely swallow into a smile. yet here she felt his hand almost caress the collar bone, he was becoming too comfortable. or was she dipping slowly into it to adjust. to dwell a little longer into this submission of ... attraction. framed chin tucked, questionable stare and her lips split open to reject what was evidently happening. " I have -I'm." she wasn't one to lie so sweetly, a titans curse she didn't want to inherit. " stressed. " she truthfully breathed before her inner wrist pushed down against his, letting the air split the pattern of her gaze upwards. now onto the floor she wrapped heated fingers around her neck. " I don't do well with stress." this mess that she has become.
