Molly, in all honesty, isn’t too sure about the current events that have been going on lately. She’s still processing the fact that she’s here in the first place, being torn away from her home without warning. Still, there’s a small sense of curiosity biting at her as she holds the water bottle in her hands. But what if it gets dangerous…? Her Epithet seems to be restricted, and her abilities are more on the defense side. Maybe it’s safe! Hopefully. 

For now, she decides on sitting on a bench surrounding the garden, feeling herself relax slowly and steadily. She’s not in any particular rush, so this is a nice change of pace. Maybe Sylvie is exploring, too… he seems like the type to be curious about these things. Losing a part of his soul, even if it’s subtle, wouldn’t be that much of a welcomed change, to say the least. She’ll have to message him later…

She looks over once she hears someone speaking to her, staring for a moment. A nod follows, her hands fiddling with her backpack straps.

❝ Sure, I don’t mind. I’ve never really visited a garden before, so… ❞

She’s used to speaking to strangers due to working at customer service, so she’s not all too bothered. Regardless, he seems nice enough. 

     There’s been so much going on around here, what with this place showing up and so many other things as well but, it’s better than the place being boring that’s for sure. Yuri’s down here mostly because of his curiosity (despite how he feels about being down here with the water, he’ll manage somehow, thinking about the water bottle he has) though he has a feeling that it’s the same for most of them.

     He can’t blame them after all. You only learn about the world by getting out there and seeing it for yourself. That’s what happened to him, and it worked out in the end (putting aside the whole ‘saving the world’ stuff. That he didn’t expect to happen at all). Plus it’s not like they’ll get answers without being here after all. And that’s what some of them want after all - answers about this place and everything that’s happening to them. But Yuri’s not about to push himself to find everything at once.

     So that’s why he’s trying to slow down a bit, and why he’s at the garden to begin with. Take things as they come and figure out what to do once he’s got an idea or something. He’s just winging it in all honest.

     “Cool, thanks. Neither have I, so there’s a first time for everything, yeah?”

     It’s good she doesn’t seem to be bothered as he sits down next to her, looking at her. She’s rather young but at least he’s good with kids, even if she doesn’t look to be one.

It was awkward, to be honest. Sometimes leaving his room he had to take a breath. There was something there. There was something about the other that he knew, and there was something that he felt deep in his chest. A shortness of breath, that he was missing something.

And Yuri was right, they did know each other. The picture given to him was more than enough proof. So why did he not have the same memories?

A sigh escaped him as he placed the picture back on his desk, leaving the room. Making it to the kitchen without incident, he began to pull food out of the freezer.

Cooking felt familiar, nostalgic. Beef placed on the counter, and,

“Oh.”

Looking up, he saw Yuri standing in the doorway. A polite nod was given in greeting, and that same mixture of nostalgia and regret gripped his chest. “Yuri.”

“You know, we rarely see each other. We’ve lived together for a bit, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you were avoiding me.” A chuckle was offered as he took out rice. “Want some? I’m in the mood for some hamburg steak.”

     If he was being honest with himself it had been...awkward the past little while. Having a roommate wasn’t new to him but having it be Flynn, when he couldn’t remember him? That was making things...awkward for sure. Considering he remembered and Flynn didn’t, it was weird for sure, to be with your best friend but to him you’re just a stranger to him.

     It’s part of why he’s been out so much. Because it’s stifling being the in the apartment at times. Yuri can’t deal with it, because there’s a feeling in his chest that hurts and being there makes it worse.

     They need to deal with this at some point, but he’s not sure how they could do that. With how awkward it’s been. They really were being the worst about this, weren’t they?

     So he returns back to the apartment reluctantly after training for most of the day-

     “...Oh.”

     -only to find Flynn in the kitchen of all places as he stood in the doorway. He returns the nod as well, that feeling of nostalgia and something else that hurts swelling up in his chest. “Flynn.”

     “Me, avoiding you? Please, I’ve just been busy, surely like you.” Okay it’s a lie but like Flynn would be able to figure that out. “But yeah, food sounds good right about now. Want some help? Believe it or not I know my way around a kitchen.” Plus the less cooking Flynn did, the better.

Well, that certainly wasn’t the reaction he was expecting. Hands shooting up, an immediate attempt to calm the situation. He was, and always would be, a professional about even the most emotionally charged situations.

“Please, calm down.” Swallowing, he considered the other’s words for a few moments. Blinking a few times at him. If there was any recollection to be had, it certainly wasn’t coming from him. And according to this man, it wasn’t just a passing knowledge of each other, or a quick photo. Apparently, they had known each other for a long time, and had been close. Extremely close. ‘Survive together’ was how they had grown up.

And if they had met, how could he have forgotten? It sounded so unlike him, and yet given the amount of anger in this other man’s speech, could it be false? They must have known each other, and appeared younger in this photo.

Flynn looked at it again, brow knotting.

“I’m…Sorry.”

And he was sorry, because there was something there, but…No, it was just a fog. Impenetrably thick, with no end in sight. “I’ve no idea who you are. I do not even know your name. And yet…It seems we knew each other very well.” The photo burned into his eyes, a gaping hole in his own memory. This man was someone important, the sinking feeling in his chest was telling him so. 

“Just what is going on here…?”

     Even if that’s not the reaction Flynn was expecting, it’s what he’s getting because really, Yuri doesn’t get what is going on. He doesn’t think Flynn would joke about something like this but then what is it if it’s not some kind of joke?!

     “I am being calm right now.” Still, he relents and tries to calm down as much as he can (which isn’t much given the situation) but he needs to. Because him yelling at Flynn isn’t going to help either of them in this case. He just does get it. He doesn’t get how Flynn could just forget his childhood friend, him, and all the years they’ve known each other and everything that’s happened to them in those years, and what happened to them so recently as well.

     Just how do you react to the person you’ve known for as long as you can remember forgetting you while you remember them perfectly? Yuri wishes he knew how to deal with this because despite all he’s been through; nothing’s prepared him for this.

     Yuri sighs, looking at the photo and then to Flynn, brows furrowed as well.

     “You’re sorry...?”

     It’s a shock for sure to hear those words come from him, but somehow Yuri knows that he means it. Considering how he reacted it...makes sense for Flynn to feel this way. “Yeah...we do. We know each other...quite well. Guess my outburst made that clear along with,” his eyes glance over to the photo. “That as well.” It hurt, and Yuri didn’t quite know why. Maybe because they had been friends for so long or...was there something else there?

     “That’s what I want to know. Why can’t you remember me but I can...?”

     Panic aside of this whole situation, Yuri thinks he’s doing well for himself.

     Okay, being throw into the water in a sense isn’t the best thing that could’ve happened to him, but he didn’t really expect this to happen to him. (No one did from how he’s seen others scramble all over the place.) At least he can still fight so there’s that but...

     Not everyone here can do that, can they?

     And Yuri hates it. That people are defenseless in this situation. He might not be a knight anymore but there’s still that sense of wanting to protect that burns within him.

     So when he sees a girl that’s not in a good spot, he doesn’t hesitate to throw himself into her way, wanting to help her if he can.

     “You alright?” he calls out before launching an Azure Edge at whatever was bothering her. “Looks like you could use a hand here huh?”

[cracks knuckles] it’s part two time

more than likely yuri will survive despite his now panic over suddenly being thrown out into the water (zaude flashbacks) so really there’s a few options on how this goes! since he can fight he’ll either team up with someone that can fight/has powers so they both can get out, or try and help someone that’s rather inept at fighting to survive as well. really it depends on the other muse!

     Gardens weren’t...really for him if he was being honest. They were nice places don’t get him wrong they just...weren’t really were he would be if he had a choice. They reminded him of stuck-up nobles with their gardens and tea parties and what have you... so he just had bad memories for places like those.

     Here though...it’s different. Maybe because there’s not any nobles here, maybe it’s the place itself or maybe it’s even him it just feels nice to be here. Maybe it’s because he’s been running on full tilt since he got down to this place or something. Yuri really doesn’t know.

     (He seems to be doing that a lot lately, not knowing why he reacts the way he does. He can’t tell if that’s a good or bad thing here. But he’ll figure it out in time won’t he.)

     Somehow he shouldn’t be surprised that someone else is here. He can’t blame them for being here, considering this place is rather nice. And with everything happening, maybe he needs a break.

     So he walks over to them, a small smile on his face. “Mind if I sit with you? A break sounds nice right about now...don’t you think?”

     Okay so maybe he’s just mad at the whole situation that’s happening and he’s wanting answers, be damned how he gets them. City shows up from underwater? Not the craziest thing that’s happened to him! Considering he’s had one place show up from under the sea (that was a whole other story though) it’s nothing he hasn’t deal with.

     So the minute he’s down in this place he’s off trying to find what he can, bringing him to the research center. Yuri’s not really sure what is even down here, but it’s probably the best place to go if he wants answers to anything really.

     (What does he even want to know he wonders. He’s been in this place for a while and he knows almost nothing about it. Maybe he just wants something to put his mind at ease.)

     He stops for a moment, hearing something that sounds like another pair of footsteps. He’s not alone here? He’s not sure what that means but he’ll figure it out soon enough he guesses!

     So he turns around at the source of the sound, eyes narrowed at the person that approaches. “Why are you here? I thought I was the only person here...guess that isn’t true anymore huh.”

The picture was what was more concerning than anything else. Armor clinked as he shifted. Taking off a bit of his armor had lightened his load, and also would likely make the others feel more comfortable. A cursory glance had made him realize many of the others were not walking around clad fully in a knight’s regalia.

But the picture he had been given…

It was kept on him. There was something important about the other man in the picture. Something that tugged at his heart strings.

And before he knew it, he was looking up and seeing that same man.

“You…” Opening up his shirt, he pulled out the picture, carefully placed close to him. “This is you.” Younger, by a few years, but still. Holding out the picture for proof, he bowed slightly. “Apologies for approaching you so abruptly, but I was given this photo of us.” A small smile, apologetic in feature, he shrugged. “And…I do not believe we have ever met.”

     It’s curious that the city doesn’t have anyone that looks like guards around here, but honestly that’s probably for the best. The city doesn’t seem to be in danger so there’s not really a need for guards or knights here. Yuri’s glad for it considering his feelings towards the knights back home, even if those feelings are a bit easier to understand know than a few years ago.

     Yet whenever he thinks about the knights back home his thoughts keep drifting to him of all people...

     It’s not hard to, considering Flynn is one of the few knights he can actually trust. He can only imagine how much he’s been worrying him, considering how long he’s been gone.

     So it’s a surprise to see him standing in front of him, and Yuri’s not quite sure what to say. He opens his mouth to speak, only for Flynn to talk first and hold out a picture of them, a few years younger. He’s confused but listens still, but that confusion is quickly replaced by... something else.

     This...this isn’t a joke right?

     “What do you mean never met?!” Now he’s angry because if Flynn’s joking with him, it’s the worst one he’s heard in a while. “Flynn I’ve practically known you since we were kids! Hell, we basically grew up with each other trying to survive in the Lower Quarter, you can’t just tell me you’ve forgotten about that, and everything we’ve done together!” He doesn’t get what’s going on here but he really wants an answer for this because yeah he’s kind of pissed off!

Making small talk is the best way to know the people.

One never knows when they may need help, and the neighbor might be the only person around, and there is so much to know about a place by the people who inhabit it. Ignis knows that much, knows that he will have to trust words much more than usual. 

“I’ve heard it’s odd, this city.” He starts, tentatively, as they both wait for a train “I cannot attest so much to the sentiment quite yet, but it does feel out of place. Doesn’t it?”

     Honestly Yuri’s not one for small talk. He’s a man of action not talking.

     But he’ll put up with it anyway, because he doesn’t really know many people around here. He’s been here what three months? And sure there’s people he knows from home that are here but besides that? No one else is really familiar and well, he probably should know more people considering how long he’s been here.

     So when the person next to him speaks up as they wait for the train, Yuri can’t help but respond as best he can. After all, might as well help him with what he knows, even if it isn’t much. “It really is odd. I’ve been here a few months and I don’t really get this place. It’s not bad but it’s... like you said out of place. Wonder if there’s something they’re hiding from us.”

[ ★ ] getting into fights with random people is always the last thing on prompto’s to-do list! he knows how to use a gun, yeah, but close-combat is definitely not one of his strengths (and he’d rather not use a weapon on regular people, thanks). too bad none of that seems to matter when you accidentally knock a big, angry guy’s glass over in a bar! who would’a thunk!?

“gah! i’m sorry! i didn’t do it on purpose, i swear! we cool?” all he gets is a knuckle crack in response, “okay, so we’re not cool! we’re not cool!”

the big guy’s blocking the front entrance, so prompto makes his way further into the establishment with a loud yelp, hoping for, well, he’s not exactly sure what yet! anything would be nice, honestly!

“somebody heeeelp!”

     He’s not a stranger to random fights, considering he’s gotten himself involved in a lot of them (whether he started them or not is a question for another day) but it doesn’t mean he has to like them. Okay that’s a lie, Yuri likes fighting when he can but even then he’s not the type to pick fights for no reason, he just likes seeing how far he can push people.

     Though right now he just wishes he could be at the bar in peace, rather than hearing what sounds like a fight ready to break out. Can’t people just understand accidents happen?

     Apparently not because Yuri looks over to where he hears someone yell for help, some big guy cracking his knuckles and looking ready to fight. Oh he’ll fight if he has to but he should probably try to help the other man that looks rather panicked.

     So it’s with a sigh he gets up and walks over to where the commotion is, face twisted into a glare. “Alright we can do this either the easy way or the hard way. It’s your choice.” He says the big guy, looking over to the younger man as if to show that he’s here to help if things get ugly because they just might with how this is going.

while yuri is most definitely curious about all this he. has a hard time around water thanks to a certain incident (looks at zadue and just sighs a lot) so that’s something to deal with! he probably won’t want to use his water bottle but he might if he really has to. and if he has to he will steal (provided both muns are good with that/we plot it out!)

     “Happy New Year.”

     Yuri looks up from where he sits, a small smile on his face. The fireworks are nice and all, but he’s not one for really reflecting on the year and all. He’ll wish people a happy new year because that’s what you do, but that’s about it. He’ll do what he has to do to make the new year great. And he’ll do it with his friends beside him as well, because they all deserve a good year.

     After all, he himself had said that you make the future. Trust the path that you choose and create it with your own hands. And that’s what he’ll do.

     “A winter festival, huh?”

     Yuri muses to himself out loud, walking aimlessly through the now darkened city. It’s a weird thing for sure, this festival and the city for sure, but he’s learned to deal with it. Still doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what to do with this exactly. There wasn’t really anything like it when he was growing up in the Lower Quarter, or at least he doesn’t really remember it.

     What he did know however, was that it was cold like really cold. He’s dealt with the cold before, fought in it no problem! Still doesn’t mean that he has to like it. The season does have it charms, he has to admit, despite the weather being well...how it is.

     Though seeing all the snow on the ground brings back some rather fond memories, when he was younger. The kids he grew up with loved playing in the snow, he did as well, doing whatever they could. Snow angels, snowman, riding down the hills, and...

     “Wha-hgh!”

     Snow ball fights as well. And he seems to have been caught in the crossfire of one, looking from where he got hit, only to see someone younger than him trying to look rather innocent. Oh, he wasn’t gonna let this slide at all, no!

     “Oh that’s it! It’s on now!”

     And just like that he’s gather up a snow ball himself, throwing it at the person he saw before. This meant war after all!

"Thank you for the gift you got me, Yuri! As my Master informed me this is a holiday where you gift others. So, I got something for you--" He holds out a small box. Inside the box is a wood carving of a wolf holding a sword in it's mouth.

     “Hey, you’re welcome. That’s what this holiday is about after all.” The words are easy and light, like the grin on his face.

     Though he raises an eyebrow in surprise when a small box is held out to him. He really didn’t have to do that…but he has a point. This holiday is about giving after all. Still he accepts it and opens it.

     Eyes widen in surprise, but they soften, along with the rest of his expression. The craving is well made, and it reminds him much of Repede, who he wishes was here, but also of himself in someways. Perhaps it’s the sword or maybe it’s just everything about it.

     “Thank you. You really didn’t have to get me anything but I’m grateful. And this means a lot more to me than you think.”

Honestly, Yuri’s first reaction is to push people away when they try to help him, unless it’s during battle. During battles he understands that they all have to help each other, and he gets that. He’s done it so many times himself. But outside of that, he doesn’t get why people would help him. He doesn’t like letting people care about him so much, and there’s actual very few people he’ll let care about him. Those are the only people he doesn’t want to push away when they try to help him, because they’re people that he feels comfortable around and seeing the more ‘vulnerable’ side of himself.
