   “ Best friends. “ He corrected, his lips hovering over hers and his eyes seemingly searhing for any sign of hesitation on her face. Only when it seems impossible to not do anything or pull back, he pressed on. 

    Lips capturing hers first, tentatively. Uncertain almost, feeling like they might have broken some weird friendship covenant by doing this but ultimately…not caring. He’d wanted to kiss her since they were ten.

          Time sat still. The universe holding its breath while it waited for something. Anything. To happen. All she could do was focus on the color of his eyes.

          Isobel’s first kiss should have been with him. Instead it had been with Tommy behind the slide on the playground. She cupped his cheek and gently parted his lips. Suspending any and all thought for a moment. Hoping that he wouldn’t freak out and run away.

            His smile stayed a bit longer, clinging almost desperately to the edges as she got closer. His heart jumping with her step. Beating a little louder in his ears he almost doesn’t hear her. 

            “ You’re so dumb. “ He murmurs, leaning in closer. 

     No one could blame her. She was only trying to cheer him up and they could most definitely make out and it be okay. The world wasn’t going to implode. At least she didn’t think so.

     She’s only a breath away. “You’re the one that’s friends with a dummy.”

          She stepped closer to him and invaded his space. Not that it was anything new. “Come on. First time for everything, right?”
