Tempo House is a recording studio in Baltimore, Maryland run by Craig Bowen and Jared Paolini. We are equipped for both analog and digital recordings. Outside engineers are welcome.

FMR Audio RNC 1773 - Stereo Compressor/Limiter

Utilitarian compressor with very precise controls. Although still analog, the detection is microprocessor controlled so the signal stays clean and quiet. Normal mode is fast and responsive, “Super Nice” mode internally routes the signal into three compressors in series with increasing ratios in order to minimize any artifacts.

Urei LA-4 - Compressor/Limiter amount: 3

Smooth optical compression with 5 selectable ratios, each with a slightly different envelope characteristic. All of ours have had their signal paths upgraded for better fidelity. Perfect for vocals and bass but also good on pretty much anything that doesn’t need super fast action.

Focusrite ISA 428 - Mic Preamp

FMR Audio - RNLA 7239 - Stereo Compressor/Limiter

Similar design to the RNC but with different software controlling the detection so attack and release envelopes react differently.  Log Rel lets more transients through during compression. Sounds good on toms, drum buses and synths I don’t know what to do with.
