Dangerous? A little, though she and the Hyuga were more safer here than they had been during the War — though it didn’t mean they were out of the woods quite yet, the seemingly endless fog had been lifted from his eyes, it didn’t mean he was suddenly sweetness and light. No, he was still very much a dangerous man who had no qualms in ‘correcting’ those that opposed him, figuratively and literally.
Her honesty was refreshing, most would stammer out an excuse or defiantly tip their chin at him mentioning such a thing. Book finding itself once again pushed to the side in favour of the Uchiha entertaining conversation with the young Kunoichi. “It would be foolish of me to blame you for your discomfort, considering all the things that have happened.” He admitted, head tilting a fraction to the left as he spoke. A low chuckle escaped him that rolled into a moments quiet, funnily enough it seemed like a petty game of who could draw out the silence longest. “Now you find yourself working for me, interesting how things work, no?” He had been the bad guy, the villain, the murderer of countless men and women during the fourth war. “A piece of advice, don’t dwell on it. It’ll only end up souring you in the long run, and I don’t appreciate sour assistants, makes for poor morale.”
If he had wanted to stab her, he could of done so, it would be so very easy to do. If anything, he could move with such precision and speed that he’d have punctured the polearm through her chest without her so much as registering what had happened until it was too late. Luckily for her, this wasn’t the time, place nor scenario that warranted such a severe reaction.
The kunoichi’s brow furrowed when the Uchiha chuckled. She wasn’t sure what to make of it. Not quite sinister but also not quite friendly either. Perhaps that was just where he stood at this time. “Yeah… interesting…” she replied, brows furrowing further. She mulled over his words. He was right… lingering on that fact would get her nowhere. This was a different time and place; the circumstance had changed.
“Well I can promise you that compared to Neji I won’t look like the sourpuss,” she muttered, mostly to herself, not passing up a chance to make a jab at him. She sighed and briefly wondered what her teammate would think of their new boss. She’d stop by his dorm later.
Silence lapsed between them again. It was kind of hard to focus on sharpening weapons when she could feel a piercing gaze on her form. Her brown orbs caught sight of the book he’d set aside earlier. “So,” she started slowly, feeling strange about making small talk with Madara, “You like to read?” There was no war here and as far as she could tell it honestly didn’t seem like Madara had malicious intentions here. For now she figured the smartest move would be to play nice, she could be civil with him though she would still tread cautiously.
