@ruhlare you
Spending my life wanting to seize every moment and for time to run slower is just as wasteful and foolish as spending a life wishing I had wings.
No sé si me entristecen más los pájaros que alguna vez tuvieron que acostumbrarse a ver cambiar todo su entorno, o los pájaros de mi jardín, que desde que nacieron no conocen otra cosa más allá de una ciudad.
I’d like to go like a flower engulfed by magma.
When the time comes, becoming something else, joining nature once more.
It’s neither abrupt nor sad; it’s just how it’s always been and how it should always be.
Gelena Pavlenko (Ukrainian, b. 1969, Kiev, Ukraine) - Early Twilight, 2014, Paintings: Oil on Canvas, Private Collection
growing
Today I went shopping to the same place I went to as a kid, and saw a little girl with a slinky who looked a bit like I did at her age. And my first thought was, “Oh, to be her, still unaware of all the things that will torment her as the years pass.” But then I looked at where I was standing, being able to make so many decisions about my life that she couldn’t about hers. And I realized I didn’t want to be her. I was her, once, but now I’m here; and I like being here, as horrible as I do find it sometimes. I like growing old.

I’ve realized my favorite film and my favorite book are those and not others because of almost nothing else but the conversations in them. And I really like that.
If I was a girl in a book, this would all be so easy.
