WOMEN IN ELECTRONIC MUSIC

this is a mix i made to to highlight women in a genre that is predominantly male, from bbc radiohphonic workshop pioneers delia derbyshire and daphne oram to modern dance producers like nina kraviz. because women have historically been limited to being vocalists or “performers” in electronic music, i wanted to emphasize the production aspect and chose to emit more vocal oriented genres (e.g. synth pop and trip hop). this page is a decent reference if you want to find out more.

venezuela makes it so easy to be an enemy of everyone

i’ve gone to two barbecues with my parents and it’s mostly middle-aged venezuelans (it’s summer! that’s what we do apparently) and i can confirm that many venezuelan middle-class emigrés are beholden to uh, a kind of fascism but i feel wrong to use the word as it also colludes with the state propaganda apparatus deployed by olive-draped bourgeois shits to affirm it’s own left-ness in front of a social base which they really just are in the process of systemically destroying

BUT back to this—i felt a certain deep continuity between these people and—no not the hardcore 2002 generation exilees—but to people such as this guy who goes to PODEMOS rallies in spain and takes pictures of very precariatised service sectors workers and labels them ‘if these people knew TRUE poverty they wouldn’t be advocating ANARCHY’
