There are little girls who are growing up with a female Jedi, female ghostbusters and a female doctor. Some of the most iconic roles in the media are female! Those little girls are going to run the world one day.
FOX has confirmed a new order of X-Files episodes for the 2017-18 broadcast season. Season 11 will have 10 episodes starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about anything in the Tiva fandom, but for those of you who have been following me since day one, you know that Tiva was originally the primary focus of my blog before Gary Glasberg tried to shoot that ship down in flames after Cote’s exit. Anyways, for those of you who follow me for The Mentalist content, just ignore this post and scroll on.
For those of you who are actually interested in the fic that I’ve started below, thank you :) I plan on it being a multi-chapter fic dealing with things after the season 13 finale of NCIS. I have to say it’ll be my fist multi-chapter fic. I hope you guys enjoy it!
“Tony…” she breathed, light seeming to pour out from behind her as she sat in the car seat next to him.
“I am pregn-”
The light that made her seem so angelic moments ago now turned threatening as he realized that it came from oncoming car only seconds away from slamming into the side of their car.
“Ziva!” he managed to yell out before being jolted by the impact of the oncoming car.
Tony snapped awake, sweat pouring down every inch of his body soaking the sheets. Sounds of his erratic breathing filled the cold silence in the room. For the third time that night, he sauntered into the bathroom to wash his face with some cold water, though the water couldn’t wash away the ache in his chest and the pain that he felt. She always tried to tell him she was pregnant in these nightmares. Why hadn’t Ziva told him about Tali outside of his dreams?
These past few nights had all been the same. Falling asleep was hard enough, and nightmares about Ziva dying plagued Tony’s dreams. So far, nothing seemed to put a damper on the nightmares. Every night after being jolted awake three or four times within the few hours of sleep that he got, Tony would give up on sleep, resigning himself to stay awake and find something to occupy his mind. Normally, if he couldn’t sleep, he’d play something on his piano. The smooth feel of the keys beneath his fingertips, and the soothing notes emanating from the piano were usually enough to put him at ease so that he could fall asleep once more. Things were of course a little different now since Tali was asleep in his guest bedroom. Tali. Their daughter.
Her name echoed in his mind. Tali, Tali, Tali. He couldn’t help but go and check on her. After tiptoeing down the hallway and stealthily cracking the door open, he slipped into the room. Unlike every other room in his apartment, this room felt warm and safe. There Tali was sprawled out over the bed belly down on the mattress. One of her tiny arms jutted out above her head halfway covered by wild brown curls while the other laid almost straight out to her side. As he listened, he heard a faint snoring sound coming from his daughter’s open mouth. She snores just like her mother. The single ray of light coming from the cracked door dimly lit the room, and something in Tali’s go bag caught his eye. The light reflected off of something. A glass from a picture frame placed on the side of the interior pocket.
Careful not to disturb his sleeping daughter, Tony moved over to the bag cautiously shuffling diapers, wipes, toys, and clothes around to retrieve the picture frame as quietly as possible. The black frame felt warm in his hands as his eyes adjusted so that he could look at the picture within it. Paris. The image of Ziva with her arms wrapped around his waist on the back of that moped in Paris filled the frame, and tears began to fill his eyes. Having her arms wrapped around him like that, made him feel so close to her and loved by her. He’d do anything to feel her that close again.
Tony stood the black picture frame up on the nightstand next to Tali’s bed and quietly slipped out of the room. Before closing the door, he took one last long look at Tali. He stood in the doorway and watched her little body rise and fall with every breath. It was hypnotic and therapeutic, helping to ease his mind enough to will him to try to return to his room to sleep. After all, he needed all the rest he could get to help him sort things out tomorrow.
Questions gnawed at his mind as he laid in bed surrounded by the darkness of his unlit bedroom. Why would Ziva put a framed picture of her and Tony in Tali’s go bag? How did his ninja die, but his little girl survived without a scratch? Where was the body?
Tony squeezed his eyes shut attempting to force himself to eradicate those questions from his mind and will himself to sleep. All he saw when he closed his eyes was that damn picture from Tali’s go bag. Who carries around a framed picture in a child’s travel bag? Why did Ziva choose that picture in particular? Then, it clicked. Ziva had used pictures to secretly communicate her whereabouts before when she’d hidden out in Israel over 2 years ago. Could she be doing the same now, or was he a fool who was giving himself false hope that she could be alive?
False hope...to hell with false hope! He’d been willing to drop everything and lay down his life to find her when she’d vanished in Somalia. He hadn’t given up on her when most others had.
“There were no survivors.” It was an abhorrent phrase he’d heard when the ship Ziva was on had capsized before she was held hostage in Somalia and when he had been notified about the mortar strike on the David farmhouse. Warm resolution welled up in his chest. He hadn’t given up hope on her then, and he wouldn’t give up hope now. Not until he had answers. Tali deserved to have her mother in her life, and if there was any chance that Tony could give that to her by finding Ziva, come hell or high water, he’d sacrifice everything he had to do it.
