pet peeve: people thinking that accusing a woman of "acting just like a man" is Ever a valid criticism
it's most often weaponized against women of other marginalized identities (trans women, woc, wlw, butches, nd women, etc.) who are already othered and degendered
even in progressive spaces it ends up being frequently employed to police acceptable expression of womanhood. sapphics being told we are just as "bad" as men in our sexual attraction to women (i could digress about the over-misuse of the term "male gaze" in wlw spaces but i shan't), butches being told we have internalized misogyny for being masculine, trans and/or gnc women (especially ones who are autistic) accused of mansplaining, "male socialization", so many other things that at this point it could easily be substituted with "that's not very ladylike"
in the event where it IS being used to addressed actual shittiness, there's a weird deflection happening where a woman's capability for awfulness is immediately contextualized by relationship to ~maleness~ that minimizes personal responsibility- it's not bad because it's "like how men act", it's just bad.

Rana and Ahmed (@ranafam2) are educators from Khan Younis, with Rana as a statistics professor at the Islamic University of Gaza and Ahmed as the principal of his school: both institutions have now been destroyed.

My name is Ahmed Al Yazji. I am 20 years old living in Gaza and in need for urgent medical treatment after being dangerously injured by a recent Israeli airstrike.
On Nov 11, 2023, I was at home staying peacefully with my family when an air strike hit the house causing severe damage to the building and serious injury to my neck.
The medical images show part of a rocket still present in my neck which according to the report will potentially cause me complete paralysis if not removed.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to do the needed surgery in Gaza due to lack of medical expertise, the damaged hospitals and equipment caused by the war.

During the current Gaza war, my house was completely destroyed resulting in the loss of my business and all our belongings.
