Fidanthic — (adj., noun; from Latin fides “trust” + Greek anthos “flower”) An aroace tertiary attraction label for individuals who experience nonromantic, nonsexual connections rooted in clear boundaries, understanding, and trust—without the expectation of progression or the desire to escalate their relationship. Within a fidanthic bond, a person may be called one’s “sanctum.”

Definition — Fidanthic describes a form of nonromantic, nonsexual attraction or orientation rooted in deep emotional trust and mutual understanding. It is characterized by connections that blossom slowly and organically, often grounded in safety, shared emotional space, and a sense of untraditional intimacy. A fidanthic connection may look like friendship to others, but is often experienced as uniquely significant and affirming.

Label Form — Adjective: a fidanthic bond, fidanthic attraction. — Noun: I’m fidanthic, I experience fidanthity.

Erotic Attraction

it is a tertiary attraction where one has the involuntary urge to derive erotic pleasure from a subject to satiate one's libido. it involves the desire to receive erotic pleasure through masturbation, sex, or even through mental stimulation. erotic attraction often causes physical arousal or other physical effects such as a faster heart rate and heavier breathing.

erotic attraction differs from sexual attraction which is the broader desire to engage with sexual activities with an individual in any way. sexual satisfaction is the enjoyment of a sexual bond between people and the acts surrounding it, and it concerns maintaining a healthy relationship and emotionally fulfilling sex life. erotic attraction is more personal and simple in nature, involving the very primal need to receive pleasure.

sexual attraction may not always involve erotic attraction; one may have the desire to engage in sexual acts with an individual, but these desires may not be erotic or arousing in nature. erotic attraction is usually derived from sexual attraction, as sex typically leads to sexual pleasure. however, in some cases, erotic attraction may arise without sexual attraction being present at all, especially in kink/bdsm.

it should be noted that most people inevitably become aroused if they are touched in a certain way regardless of their erotic investment in situation. erotic attraction is mostly to do with preference and satisfaction. someone may still feel erotically unsatisfied even if they become aroused or achieve orgasm. erotic orientation is to do with how someone prefers to achieve erotic satisfaction.

anerotic

lacking erotic attraction is called anerotic. having normal erotic attraction is called allerotic.

i am not comfortable with coining "hypererotic" as it would likely be a part of hypersexual disorder. i am not hypersexual myself but people who are are welcome to coin hypererotic and go into depth with it.

one may have a differing sexuality from ones eroticism. someone who enjoys having sex but does not experience arousal or libido satisfaction from it may be on the anerotic spectrum. someone who does not experience sexual attraction to others but does experience arousal & satisfaction from having sex may be asexual and allerotic. someone whose sexual and erotic orientations match are erexic. erexic can be considered a conformant term, as it's the typical and expected way for sexuality and eroticism to manifest for an individual.

some anerotic terminology:

autoerotic: only prefers to masturbate for erotic satisfaction.

ectoerotic: only prefers to have sex with others for erotic satisfaction, does not masturbate.

fictoerotic: only erotically attracted to fictional characters and/or scenarios, may masturbate, may prefer roleplay during sex.

kinkerotic: only prefers to receive erotic pleasure via kink. the kinks one prefers may vary. includes terms like masoerotic, sadoerotic, etc. can also include fetishes.

grayerotic: in-between anerotic and allerotic in some way; may experience erotic attraction infrequently or very situationally.

demierotic: only prefers to recieve erotic pleasure with those one is emotionally close to.

aegoerotic: only prefers to seek erotic pleasure through fantasies that do not involve oneself

apothierotic: does not experience erotic attraction whatsoever and does not want to experience erotic pleasure through any means. may be comfortable with sex, but does not want to receive erotic pleasure during it.

Atypical Quadrant Attraction

A term denoting quadrant attraction (flushed, pale, ashen, and pitch attraction) that is somehow atypical or non-normative within the context of the original implications of quadrant attraction on Alternia.

For instance, an example of atypical quadrant attraction could be a flushed relationship between more than two people, or an atypical pitch relationship in which the people involved feel what would be considered more traditionally pale feelings for eachother. Anyone may use this label if they feel it describes their attraction. It was made for Homestuck fictionkin/introjects/etc, but is not necessarily exclusive to them.

Community attraction flag!

Here's the coining post for community attraction.

The symbol is from flaticon.

color meanings; dull pink for passion, orange for community, light yellow for flexibility in attraction & feelings, cream for lack of attraction &/or feelings towards community/communities, light purple for connection, and dark warm purple for stability.

The circles are about groups (psychology); innermost to outermost meaning the ingroup(s), peer/primary group, and the out-group &/or reference group. That's what they're made in mind with.

Quadrant-Based Attraction Model

The Quadrant system is the structure for romance established in the Homestuck webcomic. My intention with this post is to provide terminology for people who already use the Quadrant system in their romantic life. However, you are allowed to adopt this system if it is new to you and you find it appealing. If you’d like to read more about what’s already been established, the in-comic explanation starts here and a wikipedia page on the system is here.

Anyway, onto the terms.

Flushed (or) Matespritic Attraction: An attraction similar to our current definition of Romantic Attraction. Characterised by feelings of romantic love, and / or sexual attraction. Some gestures of Flushed affection may include hugs, kisses, and sex.

Pale (or) Moirallegic Attraction: An attraction founded on a desire to support, protect, and form a commited and deep emotional relationship with a person. Some gestures of Pale affection may include Hugs, Papping (ie patting / caressing intended to calm a person), and Jamming (Sessions of emotional vulnerability).

Pitch (or) Kismesic Attraction: An attraction founded on a simultaneous hatred and respect for another person. You could think of a Pitch relationship like a committed rivalry that takes on characteristics of a romantic relationship. Like Matespritic attraction, there can (but doesn’t necessarily have to) be a sexual component to Kismesic attraction.

(I personally feel like I’m not qualified to define how a Pitch relationship looks beyond this, as I do not experience or understand Pitch attraction myself. I don’t want to disclude it from this model though, so I will leave it up to those who want to use the term to differentiate between a healthy and an unhealthy pitch relationship. Abusive relationships are not Kismesic relationships and I strongly discourage you from using this label for relationships or attractions which are harmful to you.)

Ashen (or) Auspistic Attraction: An attraction founded on a desire to help two other people maintain a healthy relationship + prevent them from developing a toxic or otherwise unhealthy dynamic. Ashen gestures towards others in the relationship could include breaking up / preventing fights and helping to defuse feelings of anger.

These definitions are all flexible, and you’re free to define each type of attraction however suits you, personally, best. You are also free to decide what gestures of affection and affectionate terminology you would like to use in regards to your attraction, and it doesn’t have to match up with what I’ve posited here.

You can also decide whether you consider all of these attraction-types romantic, whether you consider some platonic / queerplatonic / alterous, or whether you consider them completely seperate, etc. You are also under no obligation to adhere to or label any or all of these types of attraction.

Each kind of attraction can be towards specific genders, EG being “Panmatespritic” or “Akismesic.”
