New Year, new wire, new desk! Now I can’t wait to see what new pieces come out of this inspiring new set up. What a huge upgrade from my travel bag of trinkets. I can’t thank my friends enough for supporting me and gifting me this wonderful desk. Also I may have a fetish for assembling furniture so the three day assembly was massively fun. It’s hard to pick favorites but looking back on 2020 and seeing all the beautiful work there are definitely some that stick out. Here are my favorite pieces from the past year. I love seeing all the new techniques I learned, such as mastering a clean weave on a translucent opalite so that it’s completely see through, learning how to do coils for cord decor, using a graduated plier set to create a “bubble” effect for abstract wraps, making bail- less pieces and even a bracelet whose design included a locking feature for seamless worry free wear. 😳 I hadn’t realized how many firsts 2020 brought to my jewelry style until I really took the time to look through everything. As 2021 comes around the corner I can only marvel at the amount I learned during 2020- it was a difficult year to be sure but it definitely pushed me to be better. I hope that everyone out there finds something beautiful about 2020 despite all of the mayhem it brought. Reposting this one with higher quality photos... don’t mind me. 😬😂 A while ago I made a bubbly looking sodalite ring in copper... Today I decided to make a matching bracelet! Call me crazy but I really enjoyed making this bracelet. 😅 The design locks shut on itself in a pretty seamless way which is really satisfying to me... 😶 Though I suppose it could be worn open as well.. 🧐 For anyone who doesn’t know sodalite, it is the Scholar’s stone. A deep ocean blue with streaks of salt deposits and iron spotting it, Sodalite is what happens when lapis forms without pyrite.
