The artesian spring fed water of the San Marcos stays a constant 72 degrees, is home to eight endangered species and, flows crystal clear all year long- allowing us to remain the longest continually inhabited place in North America.

The Eyes of the San Marcos River is a volunteer organization started in March 2014 by Zach Halfin and Derrick Lee designed to help clean up the river and raise awareness. In April they received a $500 grant from the Texas Wild Rice Festival which helped them get started.
