Travel Guide to Peru - Machu Picchu Tours Offering
Machu Picchu, one of the most famous sites in the country of Peru, is now included in the list of seven new wonders of the world. Machu Picchu is located on a ridge above the Urubamba Valley at about 2400 meters above sea level. Because of its cultural and spiritual significance, Machu Picchu was included in a watch list of one hundred most endangered sites by the World Monuments Fund in 2008. It is believed that the first inhabitants of Machu Picchu are dead within 100 years of its creation, probably due to smallpox, a disease Spaniards introduced into the region during their conquests, although there is no record that Spaniards have been to Macho Picchu. The story of Machu Picchu peak coincides with the era of the Inca Empire around 1450AD. There are many beliefs regarding the construction of Machu Picchu, but the real purpose of Machu Picchu can not be said any agreement with precision. Some think it might be a prison, while others believe it was a defensive retreat. Most archaeologists have speculated that it is the estate of an Inca emperor. But the reality remains a mystery. The most important feature in the history of Machu Picchu is this architectural beauty. It was built in the same way as the pyramids of Egypt with massive stone taken across the country. There is clear evidence of their creative spirit that they cut the stones with such precision that the stones fit together tightly. The stones are not bound by a mortar, but they are tight enough that it is very difficult to fit a small thin knife between them. The fact that the ruins still stand almost intact stands testament to the quality of the execution of Inca construction techniques, especially given the area is prone to earthquakes and strong storms. It is a mystery Inca stone cutting accurately, without the use of modern technology. There is a myth that foreigners have come and help! It is widely acknowledged that Hiram Bingham was the first person to discover Machu Picchu, but there is evidence that the explorers reached the site before Bingham. A longtime researcher of Cusco Waisbard Simone said he found engraved names Enrique Palma, Gabino S? Sánchez, and Agust n? Liz? GAINS on the rocks at Machu Picchu July 14, 1901. Again, in 1904, Franklin allegedly spotted the ruins of a distant mountain. He informed his friend Christian missionary, Thomas Payne living in this area on the site, who with his fellow missionary Stauart E. McNairn claimed to have climbed into the ruins in 1906. The Incas were surprisingly advanced for the period of time, as shown in the design and construction of their ceremonial centers. Some other examples of architectural intelligence and competence are Pisac Ollantaytambo and Cuzco.
