From what I know: gunmen entered a kosher marketplace in France on Friday, the day before shabbat so it was busy, and started firing. 2 people were killed and 5 hostages who were women and children were taken hostage.

I really like the use of 'partner' for 'person you're dating', since it's simple and gender neutral etc

but my brain automatically translates it as code for 'gay' since it's such a classic pronoun-dodge thing that it trips me up hardcore when straight people use it
