I have to say I can't stand taking metformin or any medicine for that matter, but I have come to see the benefits. Pcos is tough to deal with, but metformin does have some benefits. These include: -reduces insulin -testosterone and glucose levels This im turn helps in: -reducing acne -hirsutism -abdominal obesity -amenorrhea and -other symptoms. In a study conducted by VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) 11 out of 24 women were given metformin and they "experienced a reduction in insulin levels, which slowed the activity of an enzyme in the ovaries that stimulates excess production of testosterone. As a result, testosterone levels also dropped." These are great results, but make sure to do your research, because there are side effects. To name just a few: - malaise - GI disturbance - vitamin B12 malabsorption - anemia - liver and kidney problems - and a few more. Every woman that has pcos is different and their symptoms present differently. Therefore although it might not work for some, others may very well benefit from taking it. I used to get sick from the slow release version, but since my body adjusted, I haven't had any problems. Just be sure to take it with a medium to large meal. This drug is definitely worth considering if you haven't already.

When I first decided that I wouldn't let #pcos beat me, I had no idea how I was going to fight. I didn't feel physically, mentally or emotionally strong enough. Then, I decided to do the #21dayfix to help me lose weight. I never imagined it would lead to me becoming a coach and loving my life and my job! Would you like to have the kind of freedom that allows you to work from anywhere? Or maybe you want to be there for your kids? Maybe you just want to lose some weight, but need more accountability. Coaching has given me all of these things and so much more! Want more information about what I do? Join our 3 day sneak peek into coaching. All you have to do is message me or email me at [email protected] and I'll take care of the rest. #coachlife #reversingmypcos #freedom #workfromanywhere #spendmoretimewithyourkids #spendmoretimewithyourfamily #weightloss #wl
I don't even need that, but it would be nice if I didn't feel nauseous whenever I took my meds. Thankfully, I don't need the much anymore. #pcos makes it difficult though since no one really knows what to do for it. At this point, the only thing that really helps me is eating the way I need to and working out. What works for you? #pcos #pcosawarenessmonth #teamteal #medication #badsideeffects
For those people who believe that pcos won't effect them just because they don't have it, I say think again. Men can't get it, but husbands, brothers, fathers and other male relatives are effected daily just dealing with someone who DOES have it. Instead of acting as though it isn't your problem, how about attempting to understand or being there for the family as well as the woman who's suffering? #pcos #pcosawarenessmonth #1in10 #teamteal #fightlikeagirl #compassion #understanding #vulnerability
