@tfwaurora-blog
although imagining aurora high was entertaining, gabe laughed and shook his head. if everyone in their group was fucked up there’d be no one to think things through, and god knew gabe and nix need all the help they could get. “as much as i’d love to see that, i know i’d be the one to end up taking care of your high ass.” not that he’d mind; he and aurora always seemed to be taking care of each other. whether it was something stupid they’d gotten themselves into or something really serious. sure they’d joke around and sometimes fool around, but there were times when gabe’s protective side was apparent for the girl. it was his way of showing he cared for someone since often he didn’t know how to say it. gabe moved her long locks away from her face before wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her in close to his side. “oh,” was all the boy could say in response, thinking her troubles were most likely boy or friend related. “fuck— aurora i’m sorry.” the boy started rubbing patterns in her arm with his thumb, knowing from full experience what his friend was going through. although it was a little different— gabe’s parents were addicts, living in a low income neighborhood and neglecting their small child entirely. by the time he was three he was taken from his parents and put in foster care. after a few different, overcrowded homes he was brought to the taylor’s who eventually adopted him and gave him more than he ever could have in his previous life. “hey, you don’t know that. i know you’re probably angry… fucking pissed actually, and you feel betrayed but you have no idea— your parents may have taken you out of a shit situation and didn’t want to hurt you as you grew up by telling you.”
aurora just laughed as she wiped her eyes. gabe always knew how to make her laugh when she was upset even when they were little. she would cry to him and he would tell a joke trying to stop her from crying. “nix and marian would be too distracted making out.” she teased and rolled her eyes at the thought. “we always take care of eachother. we always have.” she whispered as she cracked a small smile. her eyes said low on the floor not wanting to look at gabe in the eyes. she bit the inside of her cheek and sighed. “it just fucking sucks.” she said in a low voice as she looked at the sky. the brunette faked a laugh as she thought about it. “they didn’t even tell me about it. they weren’t going to and I was so happy to have a perfect family —but they’re no my parents. not my blood and I won’t ever know who my real parents are. even if they are crappy, but I just.” her eyes glazed over to gabe. “it fucking— hurts.“ her voice cracked at the last word and her vision started to become blurry. she hated crying in front of people she was usually the person to help people feel better. she was angry and upset, but it made her sad more than anything. she looked up at gabe and just smiled weakly holding on to him feeling as if she could break any moment she let go. “i know emotions aren’t your thing.” she chuckled as a tear went down her cheek. “i don’t know I just want everything to be the same. i don’t like change.” she muttered as she looked at the hotel they were staying at. “after this whose to say we just lose contact will everyone gets married. then never see eachother again.” aurora shook her head at the thought. “nah you and marian will be my maid of honors.” she joked and looked at him. “thank you,” she whispered laying her head on his shoulder. “for putting up with me even when I act wild as fuck cause I know im not the easiest to deal with at times and for watching over me. i love you, dummy.” she laughed as she messed with his hair. the brunette felt better knowing how good of friends she had.
“i think she’s still asleep,” nix offered easily, glancing back at the door almost guiltily. “we were pretty busy last night.” the male couldn’t help but add this second part, even though he knew that it was spiteful and vindictive. after her jab about having sex with gabe while they’d been at the fair, though, he felt like it was his right to rub his own sex life in the brunette’s face. after all, the whole reason they were broken up was due to her infidelity. bragging about having sex with his best friend felt like throwing salt in an already aching wound. it felt only fair that he brag about having sex with marian. “you look fine,” he offered, spotting a hoodie that belonged to either himself or gabe laying on the couch. throwing it over his head and pulling it down to his hips, he watched as the female checked herself out in the mirror, tapping his foot impatiently. he watched as aurora grabbed the car keys, following her to the door. his curly brown locks were sticking out every which way, and a large hickey could be seen on his neck. but unlike the girl, he wasn’t too pressed over what he looked like. not this early in the morning. “yeah, sure. you can drive,” nix nodded, hopping into the passengers seat of the car and pulling out a cigarette to smoke on their drive over to wherever they were eating.
aurora bit down on the inside of her cheek as hard as she could to keep from yelling at the male. the thought of two made her stomach twist and she wanted to throw up. —and when they displayed affection in public she felt as if they were punching her. it hurt her the most to see him happy with someone else that wasn’t her. he could’ve dated anybody, but he chose her. she just smiled at him. “that’s nice, really thanks for letting me know.” she faked a laugh as she turned her head to face him. “yeah i know how you feel.” the brunette said just to be spiteful. she rolled her eyes as he tapped his foot and wanted to turn around and back hand the curly haired male. she walked with him to the car and got inside. once her eyes glazed over to his cigarette. she let out a snicker in disgust and started the car. “i don’t know why the fuck you people smoke.” she muttered as she drove onto the street. “gabe and you. I don’t even know if marian does it, but it’s nasty.” she said in a low voice. smoking was something she never understood he did and it pissed her off. it never gives a high like weed does but it’s just there. “you could’ve picked a drug to do and i wouldn’t have mind so much.” she said locking my eyes with him for a moment before turning away. her eyes were low on the road, trying her best to pay attention to the road not nix. “so how are you doing?” she asked as she stopped the car at a red light. she turned to face him and smiled sweetly. her phone vibrated, but ignored it. her phones screen was shattered due to her throwing it. she passed some cars in the lane and turned left. her eyes scanned the area and quickly found what she was looking for. it looked like an old diner that was from the 70s. the brunette pulled in looking for good place to park and finally she found a perfect place which was close to the front. “come on, love.” she said as she got the keys out the ignition putting them in her pockets.
a soft, barely audible yawn left his lips as phoenix gazed through bleary eyes at the neon alarm clock on his bed-side table. hazy light streamed through the half-closed windows, illuminating marian’s naked, splayed-out form. the sight brought a lazy, contented smile to his lips. fuck, last night had been amazing. what he had with the other female was good. no, it was spectacular. so why did he have to keep reminding himself of this fact every time aurora was anywhere near him? nix shook his head, climbing out of bed and hunting down his boxers and a pair of jeans. lingering feelings: that was his problem. lingering feelings that would surely dissipate with time. pulling on his pants and grabbing his smokes, the male softly closed the bedroom door so as not to wake his girlfriend. stomach rumbling, he glanced up to see if anyone else was awake, only to spot the cause of the majority of his problems. “hey,” he greeted, raising his arms into the air and stretching like a cat in the sun. “hungry?”
aurora knew the voice and she silently cursed on her breath. she looked around, but she knew he was talking to her no one else was awake. the brunette turned around with one of usual smiles on her face. “hi.” she greeted the male in front of her. her eyes met his and in a moment she looked away. “yeah, actually.” she admitted scratching the back of her head. “do you wanna go get breakfast? is marian coming?” the brunette asked politely cause even though it hurt seeing the two marian was her best friend. maybe that’s what hurt her the most, but aurora knew she hurt the male much worst. her eyes slowly moved from him to his body. she knew what happened it was all they could talk about at the fair was about them fucking. which pissed aurora off, but she could never admit it. even though her and gabe joked about having sex they hardly did since it was just something that happened when the two drink too much. —but aurora only had a platonic affection for gabe and cared for him as her best friend. now here was nix. the guy who she still loved, but wouldn’t admit it to herself. “let me just make sure I don’t look as tired as i feel. my back is killing me.” she muttered as she checked herself one more time in the mirror fixing her hair and making sure she didn’t look too tired. she wasn’t wearing much makeup cause it was too early. “ill drive if that’s fine with you.” she said excitingly as she grabbed the car keys from the table her hand on the door knob looking at the other male.
aurora yawned as she got up from the bed she was sharing with gabe. marian and nix slept in the same room so aurora and gabe were stuck together. the brunette bit the inside of her cheek as she looked at her friend next to her. gabe was passed out asleep, so she slipped out of bed. she took off her shirt, she was wearing to bed to sleep. she pulled on a shirt over her bra and grabbed her jacket. she slipped off her pajama pants and put on shorts. she stretched and walked into the bathroom. aurora’s pulled her dark brown hair into a ponytail. she freshened up and walked to the living room. everyone was asleep and aurora didn’t know what to do. she was hungry and was dying for something to eat. the brunette didn’t want to wake anyone knowing how cranking people were in the morning. she bent down to put on her flats.
after a case of beer and three too many episodes of ‘the first 48′ gabe was ready to get out of their grungy motel room and start another night filled with liquor shots and making friends with strangers. he was stepping out to smoke a cigarette when he saw aurora sitting by the railing on the phone. not wanting to butt in, he stood back, leaning against the stone wall of the motel. gabe imagined aurora would probably hit him for eavesdropping but it wasn’t like he could understand french anyway. when she threw her phone, gabe let out a sigh and retrieved it for her silently. “this is why you can’t have nice things ror.” the screen was totally obliterated, leaving tiny splinters of glass on the concrete. “aren’t we all a little fucked,” the boy asked in response flatly as he sat down next to her. as far as comfort went, gabe was a little lost. if you were looking for fun, trouble, or a release, he was your guy, but any action requiring a little empathy wasn’t his strong suit. “yeah- why do you think people turn to drugs?” gabe let out a dark chuckle but from the looks of it, he wasn’t helping. through their years of friendship, gabe learned to get aurora laughing when she was upset. that was the gabe taylor way, deflect as much as you could from the actual problem and pretend it doesn’t exist. from the tears that brimmed aurora’s eyes and the dark look in her eye he could tell that wasn’t going to work this time. “look, sorry i’m an ass. are you gonna tell me what’s going on?”
aurora’s dark brown eyes followed gabe as he brought the phone back to her. she let out a laugh as soon as the phone can into her vision. the screen was destroyed and she looked down at the floor. she dried her eyes as her friend sat down. she knew how gabe was with emotional type of things. “maybe I should just start smoking weed to help me.” she joked and cracked a small smile. she moved her hair out her eyes and looked at him. her smile faded away at the thought of what was going on behind her happy smile. she sat down besides gabe and put her head on his shoulder. she wanted to break down and cry, but she knew she was stronger than that. “well—,” she said looked at her hands. “my parents finally told me I am adopted. well they didn’t tell me, I found it when I was looking for my birth certificate.” she chuckled and looked at him. “my parents aren’t my real parents. my real parents gave me away. I always thought my parents were my real parents, but my real parents didn’t want me.” her voice became shaky and her eyes looked down. “pretty fucked up how easy it is to give someone up.” as her voice cracked. she didn’t know how to feel but her heart hurt. she always thought there were no secrets in her family, and that they were happy. —but she was being lied too. “my parents probably wouldn’t have even told me.” she laughed bitterly biting down on her bottom lip.
aurora sat there on the railing with her phone pressed against her ear. “Arrêtez! vous avez menti à moi et attendez-moi de revenir à la maison? Merde. vous n'êtes même pas mes parents.” she practically yelled into the phone. in a quick motion she shut her phone and threw it across the parking lot watching it hit the ground then shatter. the brunette ran her fingers through her dark brown hair and let out a small sigh. her vision started becoming blurry and she could feel the tears build up in her eyes. “fuck.” she screamed and hit the railing not caring as people looked at her weird. she was a mess and didn’t know what to do anymore. aurora bit down on her bottom lip as hard as she could and could feel blood. then in the corner of her eyesight she noticed a figure standing there. she faked a smile and looked down at the ground beyond the railing. “you probably think I’m a fucking mess too and I wouldn’t blame you for thinking that.” she laughed bitterly at her own life. she used the sleeve of her sweater to wipe the tears from her cheeks. “you can only be so happy for so long before things turn to shit.” her voice turned wicked and she felt numb as if this wasn’t real. as if she was dreaming and she could never wake up. her eyes said low on the ground feeling sick to her stomach. aurora turned around her hands still gripping the rails and just looked down. she knew her eyeliner was probably running, but she didn’t care anymore. she felt broken which was a feeling she had never felt before and it scared her.
with a huff of indifference, gabe rolled his eyes and admitted, “fine it was good, whatever.” he continued poking at her sides, looking up at the water damage on the ceiling in an attempt to look unphased. “but if i’m gonna do this prank with you gotta ask me to marry you,” he offered with a sly grin. gabe removed a hand from her waist and waved his ring finger in front of aurora’s face. he totally just wanted to see her squirm and give into him but he was just as serious. the boy was usually the pranker, not the prankee, and he doesn’t take it too well when the joke’s on him. “payback’s a bitch! put that ring on my finger babe.”
“thank you, babe.” aurora laughed as she ran her hand through her hair. she bit the inside of her cheek then rolled her eyes. “fine,” she cleared her throat then looked into gabe’s eyes. “gabriel, my love, will you marry me?” she joked trying to sound as serious as she could holding the ring to him. she laughed as she placed the ring on his finger. “we are in love.” she yelled choking out a laugh wondering what the people next door would think. “we are engaged.” she laughed and wrapped her arms around his neck jokingly.
gabe made a disgruntled face as aurora climbed on top of him and tried to push her off with no success as she pinned him down. “get off of me!” he snatched the ugly ring off his finger and shoved it down aurora’s shirt. “i’m abusive? you just went out and bought a fake ring so you could convince me that i got married, you idiot.” he couldn’t stay mad at the girl for long though no matter how annoyed he was. gabe let out a laugh of his own, tickling her sides as she lay on top of him. “nix will probably hit me and marian will just stand there in shock and mutter about how irresponsible we are,” he responded with a nod. “let’s do it but we have to be really convincing.”
aurora laughed louder as he asked her to get off of him. “noo.” she yelled and gasped when he threw the ring down her shirt. “fuck you,” she joked as she shook the ring out with a chuckle. “come on it was kinda funny you gotta admit and I got you so good!” she smiled at him. “it was a really good prank too.” she began laughing feeling his touch on her sides. “wouldn’t expect nothing less from the duo.” she shook her head with a chuckle. “nix will probably be more pissed at me than you and yeah I expect that from marian.” aurora laughed at the thought of the two. seeing their faces would be priceless. “now you’re talking, yes! it won’t take them long to go crazy.” she admitted biting her lip.
gabe grew silent, shooting daggers at his friend across the room. he was pissed that he could be so gullible but glad it was all a hoax, bringing his hands to his chest as he threw his head back. “fuck you!” he yelled, pointing at aurora. gabe slumped down to his knees in defeat. he let out a sigh of relief and rubbed at his temples. “oh my god, i fucking hate you,” he said shaking his head with a chuckle. “you are so lucky you’re a girl otherwise i would have punched you.” gabe was elated that he wasn’t responsible for taking care of someone else; god knows he could barely keep track of his own shit. “no. i don’t want anything to do with you. get away from me!”
aurora just chuckled as she watched her friend fall to his knees. “im sorry,” she smiled as she grabbed him. she pulled him next to her and laughed. “at least you aren’t really married cmon what kinda friend would I be if I let that happen?” she laughed as she sprawled herself on top of him. “I’m sorry!” she laughed and yelled as she laid on him. “you’re so abusive.” she laughed as she looked at him. “no, no, no. listen phoenix and marian have no idea about what happened. I think we should give them something to freak out about, husband.” the brunette said as she put her chin on his chest with her eyebrows raised. “you know nix would flip the fuck out and marian would probably have a heartattack on the scene.” aurora chuckled at the thought of tricking her friends.
when aurora flashed her ring gabe felt as if his eyes were bugged out of his face and his jaw was on the floor. his mouth formed the word “oh” but no sound came out. gabe took a deep breath, his fingers combing through his hair again as he tried to process it all. “why would you listen to nix? and why would you lie and make me believe i put a ring on some loose butter face? not a great way great way to start off a marriage Rory!” honestly he felt better that it was aurora rather than some random girl, but he wasn’t going to admit that. at least this way they could fix it and forget about it, then find a way to laugh about it in a few years. “wait i- i was naked,” he realized out loud, meeting her gaze again with wide eyes. “did we…” he paused, not wanting to finish his question. sure, they had fooled around before, but this time nix knew, and probably heard.
aurora looked away in a sad fashion. she just laughed and hid her face in her hands. “im just kidding. you aren’t married to me or anyone. the ring is fake and this is mine.” she gasped out as she fell to the ground holding her stomach as she laughed. she couldn’t stop laughing and tried to breathe. “we aren’t married I promise you. last night I brought you back here. I didn’t even see nix last night. he doesn’t know neither does marian.” she laughed and then looked up still laying on the floor. “no we didn’t have sex, you were naked cause you took off all your clothes thinking I was some girl trying to get into your pants. so I slept on the floor so you wouldn’t try anything,” she began to laugh again at the thought. “i have an idea on how we could have some fun though.” she suggested trying to stop laughing.
“why would you leave me alone when i’m that drunk!” he practically yelled, grabbing the pillow back from the girl and hitting her with it again. “that’s the first rule of Vegas! or at least it should be- that’s fucked up Rory!” he spotted his t-shirt flung over the lampshade and his pants in a heap on the floor and threw them on. his wavy hair was sticking out in different directions and smelled like cigarettes and bad decisions. gabe had gotten into a lot of shit in his life, and always managed to weasel his way out of it, but this time he had no clue. walking back over to aurora, he took the water bottle from her and chugged the rest of it, then took her hand to pull her to the door. “c’mon let’s go. i gotta figure this shit out and i don’t want to be here when my fucking wife gets back,“ he said, shuddering at the thought of calling anyone his wife.
aurora groaned as he hit her again and got up on her feet. she watched her friend get dressed than put a sweatshirt over her tank top. “well you know most people would listen to aurora, but honestly I didn’t think anything would happen.” she muttered as she scratched the back of her neck. “no wait!” she scrunched her nose as she let out a small sigh. the brunette turned around and contemplated what she could do. she knew gabe would have a heartattack but there was no wife for him to see. as gabe was turned around she quickly grabbed her ring she was given too by her parents as a gift for getting into college. “I’m gonna be honest with you, gabe, and the reason I made up the girls is because the girl is me.” she said turning her eyes low as she showed the male the sliver ring on her finger. her ring instead had her initials engraved, but he wouldn’t know that. “nix told me not to say anything and to forget about it.” she half whisper-yelled as she walked to the other ring. she laughed under her breath and knew she was being evil by missing with her friend. “i have no idea what happened last night.” she lied once again and shook her head.
“wha- she’s coming back? she stayed here?” gabe knew he got pretty drunk last night but even on his worst nights he could wake up and remember something. he raked his shaky hands through his hair and pulled on the ends, letting out a sigh. this was his worst nightmare come true. the boy couldn’t even muster up the words to express his feelings toward people he actually cared about, much less a stranger. “who is she? what happened?” he asked as he began to pace the small hotel room. he spotted his boxers on the floor and slipped them on, then turned around and threw the pillow he was using as a shield at aurora. “and why didn’t you stop me from making life altering decisions when i’m hammered!?”
aurora bit down hard on her lip as she tried not to laugh at her friends reaction. she pulled the book away from her face. “yeah i crashed on the couch so you two could have fun.” she smiled sweetly at him. “she’s pretty but not like super pretty. I don’t know maybe a five on a hotness scale?” she shrugged as she got up and grabbed her water bottle. the brunette took a swig and smiled at him. “i think her name was Sarah? honestly I can’t even remember, to be honest. she was totally all over you.” aurora smirked at her friend as she took a seat on the couch. the brunette let out a fake gasp as she felt the pillow hit her. she grabbed it and attacked the male. “I told you not too drink too much, Gabriel.” she squealed as she tackled him with the pillow. “you came home later what was I supposed to do?” she said as she repeatedly hit him with the pillow.
That morning Gabe woke up with an extremely dry mouth and his head feeling heavier than a bowling ball. He groaned as he brought his hands to his face, rubbing his eyes when he felt a cool, unfamiliar metal against his skin. Shit. He pulled his hand away slowly, holding his breath as he opened his eyes to take a look. Upon seeing the gaudy gold ring on his finger, Gabe’s stomach plunged and his heart started to race as he began to panic. “What the fuck!” He flew out of bed, quickly realizing he was naked and grabbed a pillow to cover himself. “What the fuck is this?” he cried, waving his as he looked for his friends around the room. “What the fuck guys, you let me get married?”
aurora’s eyes moved from the book in her hands to the frantic male in front of her. nix and marian snuck out together before the brunette even awoke so she planted herself down and decided to catch up on reading. “didn’t I tell you not to drink too much?” she smirked looking at his ring finger. “aw the lucky girl must have went to go get you something to eat before you awoke. she should be back anytime.” aurora let out a small laugh as she pulled her book back up to her face. “I can’t believe you got married.” she snickered but knew it was fake. the brunette had bought a fake ring when she went out shopping and thought it was the perfect way to have fun with gabe.
i do not fear many things but i suspect that losing him would TEAR me open & invite in a v o i d of undying & fatal despair.
